  • Shakeology is not only overpriced, it's DISGUSTING! It's completely unpalatable unless you add a bunch of other things to it to make it taste halfway decent - which also adds to the cost. A whey protein shake and a multi-vitamin probably has a better nutritional profile anyway. Shakeology is all smoke and mirrors.
  • I could easily eat 714 cheetos. That's all I really have to add to this conversation.
  • My advice is if it's questionable (as in you really shouldn't eat it or very well may get home and completely pig out on it), don't put it in the cart! This is the hardest step for me, walking by all the Ben & Jerry's, spicy Cheez-its, and all my other vices... but if I don't put it in the cart, I won't buy it, and if I…
  • A protein shake. Because I had fettucine alfredo for lunch yesterday.
  • Oh, man. Where do I begin? A chicken burrito from Chipotle. A big mac, a whopper, and a large order of burger king fries with zesty sauce. Filet mignon au poivre with sour cream and chive mashed potatoes. A pepperoni pizza, extra crispy, from our favorite local pizza joint. A couple pints of ben & jerry's. All washed down…
  • You say, "I know my diet can be improved." I think therein lies your answer. If you want a defined midsection, your diet should have very little room for improvement. Ask anyone who has a defined midsection - I'll bet you their diet is on point at least 90% of the time.
  • I don't like fast food, but I had it today for the first time in 18 months.. a Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich for lunch.. and it was DELICIOUS. I'll probably go another 18 months before I get another craving like that, but I gotta say.. a bacon sundae sounds absolutely fabulous.
  • ^ This. Little fluctuations in weight over time are normal, but if you let yourself go you open yourself up to relationship problems. I honestly believe each partner has a responsibility in a relationship to maintain their health, physical/mental/emotional "fitness," and yes, WEIGHT, to the best of their ability.
  • It would really bother me. It's not about trust or jealousy or anything like that for me. I don't care when my fiance watches porn or checks out other women as long as it doesn't interfere with our sex life. And I trust him completely, I don't think he would do anything reprehensible at a strip club or anywhere else.. but…
  • Take on new projects, ask your boss if there's anything else you can do.. You shouldn't be bored at work, honestly. The only time I think about food at work is on my lunch break.. I spend the rest of my day, you know, working.
  • I'm from upstate New York. Way upstate. In the Adirondacks. It's absolutely the boondocks up here. Anytime I'm traveling and I tell someone I'm from New York, I get, "What was it like to grow up in such a big city?" Or, "wow, the big apple!" Or something along those lines. New York is a lot more than just New York City.
  • Granted I didn't read the entire thread, but I don't really see any arguing or acting like babies. People have strong opinions on stuff like this. And they should, because our food system affects our health and everyday lives. A little debate over frankenoatmeal won't hurt anybody.
  • Oh I get what you're saying and I totally agree. I'm a huge fan of WT myself and I heart lifting heavy.. BUT, the reality is for most people to find a fitness program that they will actually stick with long-term, it has to be something they enjoy doing. I love lifting, so it works great for me.. somebody who despises it…
  • Do what you enjoy and what you'll stick with, whether it's running, walking, strength training, swimming, whatever. Some people will tell you you HAVE to lift weights, some people will tell you you HAVE to do cardio.. do what you enjoy. Elite marathon runners have low body fat percentages, and so do bodybuilders. You can…
  • I think the point was that you can learn a lot of useful information by searching a topic if you have a question. Searching a topic also prevents you from being the newb everybody jumps on for posting the same topic they've seen a billion times. Of course you're free to post whatever you want, but search before you post is…
  • I don't think anyone meant it to be mean or rude, but you must realize you said you know you can't spot reduce, then asked how to spot reduce. So you already know the answer to your question. But seriously.. eat well, do cardio, strength train, and have patience. We all have areas of our bodies where excess fat hangs on as…
  • Spot reduce and minimize are the same thing.
  • Water weight, hormonal fluctuations, hell if I eat a pickle one day I weigh 2-3 lbs more the next day due to water retention. Daily fluctuations are nothing to stress about. What matters is the long-term. For me, if I weigh less today than I did 2 weeks ago, or even 3 months ago, that's a success.
  • Can't spot reduce. Cardio, strength training, clean diet, and perhaps most importantly.. patience.
  • Right. I'm certainly not advocating a 1200 calorie diet for anyone. For the vast majority of people, 1200 calories isn't nearly enough. I completely agree that calorie intake should be at a level that's healthy, sustainable, and supports fat loss without excessive loss of lean tissue or negative impact on metabolic…
  • I work out at Planet Fitness. I certainly don't love it, but it's cheap and it works for now. The worst part is the smell. I wish they had stricter rules on personal hygiene/dress code. I've been a member of several gyms and never encountered this before. The place almost always smells like sweaty balls. To the point where…
  • Fasting has its pros and cons, and I'm personally not a fan of it. But if you're going to do it, I'd absolutely have protein shakes. Make them with fruit so you get at least some nutrients, and take a multi-vitamin. Don't do it for more than one day, and certainly don't do it often. Just my opinion, I really don't know a…
  • Right, I understand that and I don't disagree with you at all. But when someone says, I've been eating X number of calories for X amount of time and haven't lost any weight, it's almost always underestimating intake or overestimating burn. If someone is truly eating 1200 calories for 3 months, they WILL lose weight.. if…
  • Increasing calories only works for some people, and only under certain circumstances. Conventional wisdom says if you want to lose weight, eat LESS.. and that's still true the vast majority of the time. When someone isn't losing weight, it's most often because they're either underestimating the calories they're eating or…
  • I just wear capris. I can't find shorts that don't ride up over my big ol' thighs. Between the bunching in the crotch and the searing pain of thighs rubbing together for miles on end... shorts are just not for me at this point.
  • Doesn't bother me what my friends eat. If they're eating junk, I just don't eat it. If they offer it to me, I say "no thank you." And I don't care that some of my skinny friends can eat all kinds of junk food, because my journey is about me. I want to be healthy and fit because it makes me feel good, and I know eating junk…
  • You look fantastic!
