Lost 150lbs while going through the change. Keeping it off will be the bigger challenge for me as my arthritis worsens and calories bought with exercise stop being available, but for now I'm ok. :)

I find things that I like that meet my macro needs, but truth be told I could do better abt getting more fruits and vegetables in place of grains.

Congrats!!!!

@psychod787 Thanks for believing in me! Sounds like you have a lot going on, but are still making it work. *hug* You might find someone who is also health conscious. Hubby wasn't obese like I was, but he bought a Fitbit to track his hikes and basketball games. Then one day he shocked the heck out of me by signing up for…

Now that all the sand in my hourglass has moved to my middle, I think shopping in the Jr's section could work for me! I have 34-35" hips, but my waist is 27". (Used to be a 25" waist and 37" hips during my thin phases. I have to dress very differently now.)

@cypressfey I bring as much pre-weighed food with me as I can. All my regular stuff like sugar-free yogurts and pb2, chicken, tumaros wraps, lite cheese sticks, tea, stevia, fat free half n half, light margarine, tic tacs/sugarless gum/hard candies, dark chocolate, etc. I aim to only eat out once per day and usually try to…

I do an upper/lower split. M/W/F upper, T/Th lower. It's not optimal for a beginner like me, however my primary consideration is that I don't want to be sore or tired on my weekend hikes, so it is what it is.

The wait at Longhorn was over an hour, so elder son went with a second choice to celebrate his 20th birthday. Ended up at Governor's, where I was able to get a lighter dinner than I would have at longhorn (garden salad and broiled scallops.) I don't regret stealing fresh kettle chips and fries from everyone, but do feel I…

What she said!! *hugs*

Three times I have tried to get that one. Always sold out!

Forgot to add, you have to let it soften up or instead of being creamy it will be grainy. Huge difference in the experience.

I like peanut butter cup and birthday cake best. Chocolate is so-so, but did not like chocolate almond. Tastes like amaretto. Mint was all right, but not much chocolate. People rave over red velvet, but I found it a bit fruity. Heard great things about cookie dough and salted caramel, but since vanilla isn't my favorite,…

46, post-menopausal, 5.2.5", 118lbs after a 150lb loss. I eat 1500-2200 a day depending on activity level. Sedentary days only get me 1350 cals, so I keep moving.
-
@cypressfey A gain in a single day means nothing. Water retention and food babies can account for a spike. Are you maintaining on 1200 cals a day? Or do you mean you had 1200 cals for that special supper?
-
@passenger79 If you have had your Fitbit for a while, you should be able to tell if it's overestimating activity cals. I know when I see green bars worth more than 60 cals during a walk that it's over the top.
-
Most likely. I am lousy with portion control, and logging helps me not forget what I have eaten. I don't mind doing it. It's just a part of my life now, like early morning exercise sessions. :)
-
Aw, thanks!! I guess I am just caught up a bit in regrets that I didn't do this 25 years ago. :)

Look up hiking groups and clubs in your area. Don't just look for national and state parks, keep an eye out for local conservation groups and trails. Also, visit sites like backpacker and look for books on hiking. "Wild," "Grandma Gatewood's Walk," "The Barefoot Sisters," and "A Walk in the Woods" are all entertaining. The…

Have done it with hot chocolate. It didn't stay suspended, so had to keep stirring. Also, it was pretty thick, but I didn't mind that. Ultimately, though, I prefer it in my yogurt. Would rather eat than drink it.
-
Portion sizes were still reality-based, and we were more active.
-
@Colorscheme Yeah, I read my phone pacing up and down my hall, and my Fitbit will say I burned 5 cals a minute instead of 2.5. Big difference, especially since I do it several times a day!
-
Also, baking flavors like vanilla, almond, etc will work in hot coffee, but not iced unless you added it while the coffee was hot. (Otherwise all you taste is alcohol. Learned that the hard way trying to flavor my yogurts.)
-
Torani sugar-free syrups and fat-free half n half.
-
Forgot to add that sugar-free maple syrup plus mustard makes a nice glaze as well, if you like that combo. Also, cheese was another change I made to help cut back on sodium. If you like it on sandwiches and burgers, a lot of brands are doing thinner slices these days.
-
Also forgot to add that when I had high BP, cutting bread servings wayyyy down really helped.
-
I use potassium salt. No-sodium broth is helpful as a base for soups and sauces. It needs to be refrigerated, though, and used quickly. Herbs, spices, mustards, and vinegars are all helpful seasonings as well. (For example, instead of bottled hot sauce try vinegar and cayenne pepper. Mustard, Truvia, and vinegar are nice…

My Fitbit lies to me when it is set for my real height. I had to make myself shorter on my profile to get the burns to come closer to my data, and even then since it isn't consistently wrong/right, I still can't use MFP as a NEAT system. Switched to tdee instead.
