  • I've just had shakshuka/huevos rancheros - to make things easier I often use frozen sliced onions and peppers. Always a savoury breakfast for me .... can't do sweet in the morning!

  • An interesting thread for me as I have eggs every day for breakfast and beginning to get fed up! I don't like sweet foods, particularly in the morning, so can't have shakes, smoothies, etc. Occasionally eat leftovers (in an omelette!) I can't get my head around eating non-breakfasty foods. I love breakfast and need…
  • Marci, I love your hummingbird glasses!
  • I love Breakfast threads .... my favourite meal. Food & nutrition are basically what we are interested in, otherwise we'd all be slim and not need a site to help us lose weight. People join every day, I assume, so new threads on Breakfasts are very useful.
  • After 6 weeks I've lost 15lbs thanks to MFP - would like to lose another 14lbs. Six weeks is the longest I've ever stuck to a diet and put that down to being so aware of the calorie count of everything I'm planning to eat. I think those of us with a tendency to gain weight will forever have to count calories - doesn't mean…
  • Wine and cheese - I love both and can't be happy with a little so have none. Since joining MFP (4 weeks today) I've had two small glasses of white wine and 200g of mature cheddar. Do miss them but I'm being brave! :drinker:
  • It's a bit more than a kiss - it's a smoochy kiss! You don't snog your kids or your gran
  • My goodness, you've done so well and look absolutely fantastic - all in a relatively short time too! A real transformation.
  • I said 'fresh' pasta was higher in calories as they add oil to it to stop it sticking together.
  • WAW, you're mixing apples with pears here! Fresh pasta will be heavier to start with as the moisture has not been dried out - you can't work out how many calories are in 100gm of the stuff by comparing it to dried pasta. The calories for that fresh pasta will be as it says on the bag - 150gm/240 calories.
  • Sorry forgot to add, you weigh before cooking.
  • You say 'fresh dry' pasta from the refrigerated section - if it's in the fridge section it's not dry but is uncooked! That pasta is higher in calories because they add oil to keep the strands/pieces separate, otherwise it would turn into a big blob. The calories per gram are for pre-cooked , pasta, rice, couscous, etc.
  • Your son's diet sounds fine to me (mother, grandmother, RN here!) Please don't send him to the stairs as punishment - for one he doesn't need to be punished for eating as well as he does and two, it could develop into a behaviour issue and become a battle of wills. As for breakfast, my hale and hearty 8 year-old grandson…
  • Every day - can't resist!
