I say GO FOR IT! (as long as you continue to keep feeling good and meeting your goals). My entire philosophy for my weight loss goals have been to try things and if they work, keep doing them. As long as I feel good and the scale is moving in the right direction, then it's the right thing to do. You are in your early 20's,…

Saving - thank you!

I've lost 13lbs with no barely any exercise at all, just watching calories and keeping them pretty low (usually around 1350 a day but I am flexible). Some walking on more indulgent weekends.

Hi Sarah! Are you counting calories? How many are you eating a day? I've been seeing fairly steady losses at between 1200-1500 per day (usually around 1350). I find that weighing and measuring all my food precisely is really important. I also rarely eat out at restaurants, because it's so hard to accurately count calories…

I like this idea too! I've made salad rolls with rice paper wraps in the past, filled with noodles, shrimp, mango and fresh basil, then dipped in peanut sauce. It's incredible but a little high in cals with the noodles. Great idea stuffing them with veggies and using hoisin. Re: bread - I'm not sure if it's available…

Yes!! THIS >>> http://www.seriouseats.com/2014/09/diy-instant-noodle-cups-food-lab.html I'm super stoked on this group of recipes. They look super easy and delicious. Enjoy!!

So many great ideas! I'll be using some of these tips too - thank you!

Lol - you are hilarious and you look great! Way it go on 30lbs and on a huge lifestyle change!!

I have treats every weekend :) I firmly believe that for me it's the most sustainable way to go. I don't want to feel deprived at all. My idea is to eat like my thin friends, to indulge and then balance the scales with lower cal meals and activity.
-
If that was my only planned treat for the weekend, I'd get a small of my absolute favourite and make it fit into my day..

I've lost 13lbs in the last eight weeks and had plenty of booze. Usually I go for lower cal options (club soda or diet mixer) or wine, and I watch my snacking during - but I don't drink on an empty stomach. I try to get a bit more exercise in on the days previous or following as well. Life is short, enjoy it!

I generally have been thinking of calories as a weekly thing! I'm also dabbling in 5:2 fasting though, so having higher and lower calorie days works for me. Also just lifestyle wise, I like to indulge especially on the weekends and feel better about it when I balance the scales with a super low cal day or two during the…

I do the pita pizza thing all the time, tortilla sometimes too. I love it and think it's a great substitute for take out. Mine are around 4-500 cals and hit the spot when I am looking for something quick and satisfying. It's also cheaper than delivery!
-
I would freeze half! Meatballs are such an awesome thing to have in the freezer anyway - thank you for the inspiration, I might make some this weekend! Also a word about eating old food that smells or tastes fine, if you are going that route your best bet is to reheat the food VERY WELL. Get it super hot!

Hi! I have a hard time with the mentality of "quitting" any food or food group, unless it's for medical reasons such as celiac or diabetes. I have tried it in the past and quit sugar and grains and find it just sets me up for a rebound where I say "*kitten* it" when I'm super tired or stressed or whatever. The all or…

I love to make a fancy sauce or two in advance and bring it in a container! Lemon thyme cream sauce, homemade bbq sauce, hollandaise, etc. They would be such a pain to make while camping but can add taste and delicious calories to any meal.

I don't necessarily think of it as money, but I definitely budget it better than I do cash! That's why pre-log my food most days and swap out foods for what I REALLY want to spend my cals on.
-
You can still be a picky eater and lose weight, just eat less of what you do like, or figure out how to make still-satisfying lighter versions of your favourites. I love pizza and regularly make pita bread pizzas now, for between 300 and 400 calories. I love pasta but now eat it less often, and have less of it when I do.…

I'll share my diet! I have definitely gotten results and am feeling and looking great after losing 12lbs in six weeks. - On sedentary days I stick to 1200 calories a day (this works for me at the moment) - On active days I eat back my activity calories - I pre-log most of my food so I can budget my day and feel satisfied -…

It totally depends! I am a stickler for comparing in the grocery aisle. I look for calories first, then protein and sugars. If there is only a gram or two extra sugar but a significant savings in calories, without sacrificing protein, I'll go lower fat IF it doesn't ruin the taste. Currently, I eat: 1% Cottage Cheese Light…

Fruit: nectarine, raspberry and apples Vegetable: broccoli (I LOVE it roasted or grilled and in broccoli salad and with warm dressings, dip or cheese), salad greens because they provide the base for huge incredible salads I've been making almost daily. I'm also a fanatic about using citrus and fresh herbs for cooking -…

Wow such an inspiration!! Congratulations, you look wonderful!!!

SO grateful for My Fitness Pal and that I have finally accepted the truth that weight is all about calories in/calories out. Super grateful that negative thoughts about my body and my weight no longer take up space in my head. What an incredible relief to have them gone for good! I don't have the body I want yet, but as…

Butter for flavour, coconut oil for baking or in dishes where the coconut flavour is welcome. olive oil in salads or as a spray for most cooking, duck fat where the coconut oil doesn't work, and a very good roasted peanut oil for some delicious asian meals.

I haven't used it, but my perception of Tinder is that it is for hooking up.

For myself, I absolutely do my best and most of the time weigh my food and am very precise about it. Knowing I am so precise normally, I feel totally okay with estimating in situations like you have described. If you are really good about measuring 90% of the time, I think you have a bit of wiggle room.

I used to like them, but when I got pregnant even the thought of avocados made me nauseous. If I knew there was one in the house I would feel sick. Blerg. Now I don't mind having some guac to dip a chip or two in, but that's pretty much as far as I'll go. I'm not a fussy eater at all, but there's something about avocados.

This is a wonderful idea! I'm in the northwest too, but in Canada - we do have similar climates though. Mushrooms and berries are what comes to mind for me first as well. Also nettles. Do you have them in OR? Obviously forage carefully and research first as you don't want to be stung. Do you have wild ramps or fiddleheads…

Absolutely! Focus on calories right now, rather than things like organics. For real, you will get so much more bang for your buck. Sometimes cheaper can mean fast foods and things like that, but it can also mean whole, simple foods. A head of lettuce (rather than an organic package of fancy greens), some chicken thighs and…
