Sounds like a good goal! For me, what helps is identifying reasons that I want to lose weight/get fit, and keeping those reasons in mind daily.

This is an awesome resource for easy/fast/vegan/delicious (I'm not 100% sure it's all vegan but many recipes are): http://minimalistbaker.com/

This is my favourite too. I use regular bacon if I don't have pancetta. Also a drizzle of balsamic or dusting of parmigiano reggiano - so good!

This recipe is so good! Baked "fried" chicken. I keep the skin on, it's a few extra calories but worth it. I also use Rice Krispies sometimes if that's all I have: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/oven-fried-chicken-with-a-corn-flake-crust-232683

I like a flex day once every week or two. Sometimes that means just having an uncounted restaurant meal or take-out, and sometimes it's a full blown party day with booze and cheese and deserts and all the good stuff. I try to make sure this flex meal/day is something I really savour and enjoy. Then I get back to counting…

Hi! I had the same issue and ended up deleting then reinstalling mpf on my phone. It worked, but now I want to reconnect them and can't seem to

I'm in! Newbie runner here. I completed Couch to 5k this spring and summer, and just achieved my first full 5k run yesterday - it was awesome! I'm going for 75k in August - eep!
-
I also strongly recommend the Couch to 5K program. I started in March and ran my first full 5k yesterday. I owe so much to this great training program. A couple additional tips that have been huge for me in staying injury free and meeting my goals:* run slow slow slow * take rest days in between Best of luck - I hope you…

Awesome!! Sounds like a real breakthrough. Congratulations on your wedding as well - all the best!
-
Good for you! I've been feeling *kitten* about some of my facebook but not really real life anymore friends and this is the push I need to edit a few out. No room for the negativity.

I got back on track with my calories after a long weekend - always tricky for me!

I'm 5'4.5 SW: 183 (down from my highest at nine months pregnant, 205) CW: 159.4 GW: 133-140 (depending on how I look and feel) Planning to get to goal weight early this fall!

This is the best advice. Great for anyone starting out.

(Sorry - I'm not sure exactly how to quote only your last statement) It is sad - I know. I have a close family member that spent years working in that system and truly believed that she was helping people and was going to make a nice amount of money doing so. She worked extremely hard, put a lot of questionable product…

Same!

Oh man:( I've had similar issues with family members and isagenix. What I found in the end was just to completely steer away from it in conversation and not engage. Do what you need to do to meet your goals and you'll see in the end who has a smaller waistline and bigger bank account. It's sad, really.

I just posted this on another thread but some of these might work for you too. About me (obvi we have different goals and needs): most days I eat 1200-1300 calories, and probably more like 1500-3000 a few times a month. I don't workout and am quite sedentary (for now, thinking of changing that soon). Here's my top tips…

I'm not sure if I have a great picture of what you're asking for - you want to eat more calories but in a way you feel is healthy? For me that means eating more fat usually. I eat olive oil, salmon and full fat cheese daily and if I have extra cals it always goes to wine.
-
I'm 5'4 and started at 183, now down to 159 in four months of actively eating at a calorie deficit. I took a two month hiatus in the middle and maintained at that time. I'm twenty years older than you, not sure how much difference that would make metabolism wise. Most days I eat 1200-1300 calories, and probably more like…

I don't snack much but always include a decent amount of protein and fat in my meals - I find if I've done that, snacking is a non issue. My occasional snacks are: Cottage cheese/maple syrup Plain yogurt/banana/chocolate chip Apple/cheese Celery/peanut butter/banana

I'm glad you are going to give it a go. Eating intentionally has been the single most important lifestyle change I've made in the past year. I wish you all the best! Feel free to add me here is you'd like. My diary is open to friends.

NAY. They taste disgusting and are an MLM scam. The way they work for weight loss is that they are an extremely low calorie diet. The weight almost always comes back, and quickly.
-
Good for you!! You pushed through and logged what you ate and made a note. That's awesome! I just want to clarify, I have absolutely taken time off from logging (or just estimated or quick added calories) for several meals or days, and even took an eight week weight loss hiatus and maintained recently. I believe that there…

OP, the best method I've used to manage to get my eating under control is to pre-plan and pre-log my food. Especially in the first month or two I really had to buckle down and eat intentionally. No grazing or mindless eating. It was hard but the effort you put in now will be completely worth it.
-
I'm celebrating an awesome 3.1lb loss with an Irish Cream coffee - and feeling great about it. Happy weekend, everyone!
-
I pre-log, usually the night before. I'm always flexible and change things around, but it gives me a good place to start!
-
OP I say push through! I found the first month tough and I really had to dig deep to find my perseverance, motivation and patience. And it was totally worth it. Feel free to add me here

I have no problem with the word "cheat" here. I don't mind "diet" either though I know it can ruffle feathers. My take is that as long as I'm still losing weight (because that's my goal) and feeling good (nice amount of energy, not deprived, generally getting *kitten* done), then flexible meals and days are absolutely…
-
+1 Great post, OP! It's about being intentional and budgeting calories in ways that help us meet our goals and stay satisfied in a way that works long term.

I use small glasses for wine, and usually pre-log and measure. I've also started having as many non-wine days as wine days. The spritzer idea is a great one too that I've found helpful. All the best to you! Feel free to friend me here of you'd like
