Getting there and it feels great

I'm not a 'success story' yet, but I feel like I'm well on my way.
I started using MFP in 2012 as I was approaching my 30th birthday and was also going on an overseas holiday early 2013. I used it religiously and lost about 10kgs (22 pounds). I went from 80kgs (176 pounds) to 70kgs (154 pounds) and felt much more confident. 70kgs is not my goal weight, I would have still been in the overweight range in the BMI scale (I'm pretty short). As the rest of 2013 and 2014 rolled on, the kgs crept back up. I felt depressed and all those negative feelings about self worth and self consciousness came back. So, I am getting married this year and the mental weight was greater than ever. I am not one who is good at working towards a date or event... I am a procrastinator, so I'm more likely to try and push against it. Whether it's really the wedding or not, I think I have found a lifestyle that is actually working for me. I have dropped under 70kgs for the first time in about 7 years. I feel like it's a psychological barrier that has been broken. My old clothes fit me and I don't have that awful feeling when I walk past shop windows or mirrors. People have started to notice too. Anyway, I just feel really grateful towards MFP and I think that I may have started what will be the rest of my life with a healthy attitude towards food and exercise. Regardless of these big events coming up or anything external factors, I think maybe I've just formed a new, good habit. I'm not obsessed with the scale, I'm not afraid of food, I just know what is going to be nutritional and what I need and don't need. Anyway, for anyone out there who has read through this ramble, good for you, and stick with it. xo

That is brilliant: well done you! I am sure the most important thing of all is not the scale but the healthy attitude to food and exercise you are developing. But it is so encouraging when the scale records that this is changing things.0

I just love MFP and the people that are on it. I recommend it to everyone. We all have baggage. My weight problems come from many factors including a mother with binge eating issues, a poor attitude and knowledge towards food, being poor growing up, bad self esteem... it's all connected! One thing I've realised growing older is that weight itself actually means nothing, and the next time you see an obese person and think oh they must be so lazy or whatever, know they're struggling with other factors.0
