Confession! The batteries on my food scale are in need of replacement, so often the scale misses the first bit of food. For example, if I'm grating cheese onto my dish, it won't register until I know I have at least .4oz already - and then it'll start with .1. So I get .3 or .4 free oz of food. I'm loving this bonus…

I've had great results with intermittent fasting in the past. I was doing the 5:2 program and had joined a 5:2 group here on MFP. I was convinced of it by a BBC show touting the lifestyle and many purported health benefits (in particular regarding the brain and aging). For me, it was quite hard and though I did lose some…

Google Smitten Kitchen's turkey meatballs - they are awesome. I also like to do a version of Thai Laap (or larb/larp) with ground turkey. You can Google that too if you wish but it's basically a super fresh herbaceous meat "salad" that is amazing with rice and a little herb salad. It's also one of the few dishes my three…

It's essentially just a really expensive very low cal diet. They hype up all kind of "cleanse" claims but I think it's bull. I'm also really not a fan of multi level marketing.

I take French bread as referring to a baguette or the like - delicious!

Can you imagine? A MFP listing for random couch dirt and pet hair.

I just dropped a bunch of my salad into the crack of the couch and pulled it out, cat hair and all, and ate it. I had logged it already, so...

I don't like to use a lot of calories for breakfast. When I do eat it, it's usually toast (low cal/high protein) with light cream cheese and lox, cereal w. milk, a scrambled egg on toast, or oatmeal. Do you have a favorite breakfast food? That might be a good place to start.

Totally makIng this - thanks!!

I like popcorn in place of chips too, and spiralized zucchini instead of pasta on occasion. If I'm just generally snacky for something sweet and crunchy usually celery with peanut butter and raisins does the trick. I also love a bowl of plain yogurt with sliced bananas and a few chocolate chips - it feels treaty but also…

I have a decent lazy coleslaw dressing - equal parts half fat mayo and apple cider vinegar. Sometimes I cut the mayo with yogurt but when I do that I use a bit less vinegar, too much zip otherwise.

I put my olive oil into a little spouted bottle that just shakes out a few drops - a bit more than the spray, around half a teaspoon a shake. Works well for me for most of my sautéing. For me the oil choice really depends on what flavour I'm going for. Butter for eggs, pancakes, French toast. High quality peanut oil for…

I agree with some other posters here - diet talk is boring! That's why I save it for MFP. I do talk about it sometimes with friends who have been here before, who have lost and kept it off, but not in a general social situation - and never on Facebook. If anyone notices my weight loss and asks for details I usually tell…

I've got a nice White Ice going right now - a couple ounces white wine (from a box, all class  ) with ice, club soda and a bit of lime. It's refreshing, and a great way to keep the calories and hangover in check. Other great options: spirits mixed with diet drinks (I like vodka and zevia ginger ale with lime and a…

When I began I had a list of rewards. They are still around somewhere but the more I lose the more I think that feeling this great and being so much more confident is such a reward itself. Every successful weigh in is such an awesome victory! I will reward myself with a completely necessary shopping trip when I've reached…

How is your fat intake? I find fats pretty satiating and tend to do best when I go a bit over the mfp suggested numbers for fats.

Yep it's a great thing to know! Funny I was looking at the calorie content on this awesome looking smoked sausage my husband brought home the other day. The whole sausage was exactly 3500 calories. A year ago, I would have happily eaten half of it in one sitting.

Yes! That was my experience with cheese too! Huge happy dance when I realized I'd been way too conservative in my estimation for it.

For me, what's really helped is having lots of great supportive friends here on mfp. Some of them started with me at around the same weight (look for, or start one of the threads to find find folks with similar goals). Other friends were people who already had success and had learned lots of lessons along the way.

I love pasta too! Carbonara is my favorite and quite high calorie so that's only a once in a while thing now  What I usually do these days is if I have a high calorie sauce, I use zucchini zoodles instead of pasta, but if the sauce is lower cal or I want to focus on pasta I just use the real stuff but with better…

I eat two or three meals (sometimes breakfast, always lunch and dinner) a day, and sometimes add a snack. I'm not in the "eat often" camp. Works for me!
-
I don't log soy sauce (I'm not watching my sodium), hot sauce, mustard, spices. I would log the creamer though. I do log my coffee and diet drinks but it's more from habit than anything.

I sure do! I'm good with being in the red a couple of times a month. It's never because I just feel like gorging on some Chinese food at home on a Tuesday (for example) or because I'm feeling emotional or stressed. I save those times for when we have friends over for a gathering, or Superbowl, or a rare dinner out with my…

Those sound incredible. Handmade chocolate is always superior, IMO. Peanut Butter Eggs are great though - I have no time for the creme eggs but the PB ones are the bomb. Recent discovery: Butterfinger Cups. I haven't seen them in Canada yet (probably for the best) so I pick up one or two when I cross the border. So good.

I have wine or a hard cider most nights and I still lose. I think it's more important to accurately track calories (weigh and measure to a T) than give up on something you enjoy. Also, weight loss isn't linear and it's fine to not see a loss every single week.

This sounds like a wonderful recipe - thank you so much for sharing! I'm filing it right now. Cheers!

Wow - I'm impressed!! Going to use this in the future too, thanks!

LOVING this thread. A big *kitten* salad is one of my favourite things. Fresh/fatty/chewy/crunchy are all musts. So many great ideas here! Here's mine - Buffalo Chicken Salad A load of greens Half fat mayo & apple cider vinegar as dressing Optional black bean/corn/tomato mixed in Grated cheddar cheese Chicken tossed in…

I'm pretty lazy with my homemade dressings! For a creamy dressing I use half lower fat mayo and half apple cider vinegar, for a vinaigrette substitute I use either balsamic/olive oil or lemon/olive oil. This Caesar salad recipe is the bomb though: http://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1013104-classic-caesar-salad
