  • i'm on my 2nd plateau & my trainer just has me switch my diet from calorie oriented to carb- oriented. i'm trying to stay around 40 carbs a day w/exercising 5days a week. try it & see how youdo
  • Kettle bell swings using a dumb bell & plank jacks.... why do cardio when you can burn calories while strength training doing your cardio
  • I don't have that much time to do 1 set of cardio & 1 set of strength workouts. I've been blending them together based on what my trainer has done with me. and also, i don't use machines b/c i don't belong to a gym & need to be able to workout anywhere with or without dumb bells. I have a set of dumb bells at home but i've…
  • if it was easy to lose weight... everyone could do it.
  • i wouldn't do diet & exercise at the same time to the poit your life is turned upside down. its such a lifestyle shock for most - including me - that its near impossible to maintain forever. In 2009 i decided to start exercsiing in 2010 & then be aware of what i'm eating & try to avoid crap... and then in 2011, i started…
  • Chobani has a lot of sugar in it compared to FAGE. Costco has these frozen berry medly i put in it with a packet of splenda & a few tablespoons of flax seed meal (omega 3)... FAGE has lot more protein. Chobani is over rated for nutritional value
  • My cheat meal which is healthy - cottage cheese, a few dried cranberries, almonds and then pineapple or mandarin oranges. Costco has these amazing tortilla crusted... or chipotle crusted tilapia fillets that are only 150 calories each & I eat them over costco stir fry vegetables... when i did atkins eons ago, i couldn't…
  • flavored vodka & diet or regular sprite.
  • it sounds like you have a good setup already. how about those bikes when you sit? those seem to be the 'in' thing... or a rowing machine? biggest loser uses those ladder machines. no ideas on the racquetball
  • i notice that a little bit of 'salt' makes it taste better when i season myself vs using quaker oats. I use steel cut oats vs instant & then add raisins & either maple syrup or some brown sugar.
  • agree w/the first person. You shouldn't be dieting but changing the way you are eating FOREVER. until you can accept that people can't eat crap everyday, you'll continue to be a yo yo dieter. think of what triggers you to eat the foods that are causing the weight gain... often it's poor planning & when you have to eat…
  • i do "ladders". it's when you take a few exercises & do 10 of each exercise, 9 of each, 8 of each... 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 ,... then do 2 of each, 3 of each..4 5 6 7 8 9 & back up to 10 of each. they are great because you can focus in on a few body parts for strength/weights, you know exactly when you are 1/2 day done w/the…
  • it';s just the dressing.... caesar is high in calories (but low in carbs)....
  • i agree to change the foods you are eating... i know this is a big no no to most people, but it's been helping me w/my hunger issues i've had lately (i work out 6 days a week & overall eat healthy w/low carbs)... i started taking these pills from GNC... it's only ONE time a day and has a little bit of an appetitie…
  • It is the ratio of vertical to horizontal distance covered while runnning converted to a percent. 4.5% incline (or grade) means 4.5 feet of elevation gain for every 100 feet of forward motion.
  • i've been working with a personal trainer & he's taught me to do my workouts with strength training & cardio. alternate a cardio move to get your heart rate up there... then do strength training... then cardio, etc. i've burned up to 500+ calories in less than an hour in his classes.
  • MFP is already subtracting calories off your daily calorie goal to lose the weight. if you are burning more calories with exercise & not eating them, your body supposedly goes into starvation mode & starts storing calories & you won't lose as much weight. My trainer was just lecturing someone who was complaining about not…
  • well... you are drinking slimfast so it would appear you want to lose weight... protein shakes are better for you than 'slim fast'.... less carbs is key... My trainer says always mix carbs/protein, protein & fat,... never carbs & fat. i mix my protein shake w/a 1/4cup of half/half or cream & the rest water so it tastes…
  • get the chest strap ones... they are more accurate, know you heart rate all the time.. you get used to wearing it... my husband, 3 girlfriends & co-workers all bought the duo one - about $60 on amazon or $90 at sportmart. the have a timer, calories, time spent above your 'zone', in your 'zone' & below you zone....
  • my girlfriedns & I have a duo sportline & we love it b/c it's simple to use.... Amazon has it for $60 ... get the chest strap
  • you eat the extra calories b/c MFP is already shaving calories off your daily intake so you can lose weight... possibly 800 if you were using a 2000 calories diet.... 800 calories shaved off per day X 7 days - 5600 calories a week saved... so 2 lbs or so.
  • do you have a weight bench so you can lay on the floor angled underneath to pull yourself up? yes you can use resistance bands but for the record, it is nothing like doing an assisted pullup. and i think one of the segments is mainly pullups...
  • yes, you can subtract fiber from carbs for net fiber.... but minimize bread, rice, pasta, .... protein & vegetables!!!
  • I have the problem when i jump rope or do deadlifts... recommendation? kegals & maxi pads!
  • There are tons of ways to work your abs withour doing "crunches".... planks - static side planks, side plank dips, extended arm planks, planks on the elbows, spiderman planks (google it), etc. mountain climbers, pushups & burpees work your abs... you can do plank surrenders... go in push up (plank) position with arms…
  • Just remember, it's a lifestyle change, not a diet change. whatever changes you make need to be 'forever'... that is the key to success...
  • push ups on the stairs, lunges around the room, high knees, jumping lunges, burpees
  • chocolate protein shake w/frozen yogurt?? that's probably as much of a cheat as you shoudl go.
  • I did the c25k a few weeks ago... had issues w/shin splints - my trainer said it's because i wasnt' stretching enough after running... so stretching helped but the big thing was that i bought new shoes.. i went to **** ponds & spent $130 on brooks b/c i need a lot of cushion in the ball of my foot. I ran 5 miles that week…
  • Hello??? she's asking for recipes.... and with a 7 month old, i'm sure she doesn't want to spend too much time at the library or reading a cookbook... at least for me.... we're always busy. Costco sells a bag of stir fry vegetables that are awesome steamed (pea pods, water chestnuts, red peppers, mushrooms, baby corn,…
