something that helps me curb cravings for food and overeating is fibre. Trying to get 25 grams or so a day is a bit hard, and i dont always succeed, but it does help me feel full longer. One thing to note with fibre however, you gotta drink a *kitten* ton of water

as far as I am concerned, the only wrong way is to not eat the pizza at all.

hell yeah Canada! I love being a Canuck :)

I'm so late to the party, but I love spin and got really into it a few years back (twice a day, five days a week). If you are going to eat, do it at least an hour before you get on the bike. Food will sit like cement in your tummy as soon as you start working hard. Also, take lots of water with you, and a small towel to…

Happy Hardcore. Keeps me on pace, keeps me moving forward, and makes me feel that runner's high before the high actually kicks in. It's not for everyone, but man is it for me. :)

I average about 4k a day at this point in my running, so let's also aim for 48k and see how I do. I'm also aiming to run three days a week for the entire month of November. So far, off to a great start.

there will be a day when suddenly everyone sees it and thats all they can talk about. I promise you, they will notice. They might already notice something, but they arent sure what it is and dont say anything until they figure out what it is.

I agree with this completely, and wish more countries would roll this out. It's known that obesity and smoking are related to poor outcomes for surgery recovery. I think it's perfectly acceptable to have people be a part of their recovery and life choices are a part of that. Moreover, we all make choices that affect us,…

completely. I havent even been at it that long, and i certainly havent been denying myself treats. They still taste as good as i remember at first, but after a minute or two not so much. Like a little piece of a chocolate bar is fine now instead of the whole thing, and another whole one after it. I still like it, just not…

I set a goal number when I started this last time (it's the third time for me I have gone up in weight and decided to do something about it over my life), but since trying to actively walk more and get in exercise three times a week, I'm considerably less concerned with the number on the scale. At this point, if I never…

I don't know how good it is specifically for abs generally, but I will say anecdotally that I started jogging using an app to get me to 10k from the couch. I see a lot of difference overall just from eating less and jogging. My abs are starting to feel engaged more often just doing regular things, I'm noticing some serious…

late to the party, but i'm a huge fan of soca when i want to feel good. Right this second it's Doh Panic by Flipo. Pumps me up :)

for my staples, I tend to keep dry goods on hand for snacking. Someone told me to focus on getting enough fiber and water in my diet, and so far it's really helping to keep me on track most days. Broccoli, carrots, raspberries, pumpkin seeds (raw unsalted), almonds, greek yogurt, skinless chicken breast, veggies, veggies,…

I'm doing 1200 a day currently and feel great! Key for me is getting enough fibre. If I work out and I have been trying to hit my fibre goals, I sometimes cannot eat back all of my calories and end up under for the day. Focusing on 25 grams of fibre, hitting or coming close to my protein goal, drinking lots of water and…

I'm super self conscious when I am running, all the time. Never when I am biking or doing anything else. Always just with running whether I run inside or outside. Sometimes I wear a hat, sometimes I wear sunglasses even if it's not super sunny (it's a security blanket thing I think). It might look crazy, but it works for…

Honestly the elliptical is a great piece of machinery to help you reach your goals and keep your joints safe. As you stated, you are already noticing changes in your body and have lost weight so that's all there is to it. It works for you, its a good part of your routine, and it doesn't hurt your body. You are pairing it…

I'll compliment a girl on her outfit, shoes, handbag etc. Sometimes if a girl is fussing or I can tell she's not feeling super confident i'll say something nice to make her feel good, but otherwise, talking occurs outside the stall. In the stall is me time, outside the stall all bets are off

anxiety sufferer here, and when it's bad working out isn't my issue. Eating is. I eat my stress. I eat my feelings. When i have a high stress day i talk to a lot of junk food, or just a lot of food in general. doesn't even matter what kind, how tasty, i just want to eat. Most days are okay, some days are not. I am…

my sentiments exactly. The thing that changes those people from resolutionists to regulars might be the atmosphere itself, and if people aren't a little understanding that everyone starts somewhere, those people might be chased away from a great opportunity to take care of themselves.

Judging others. Everyone starts somewhere, and we all are trying to get somewhere. Let people do what they do and feel good about their choice to do something healthy for themselves. There is no reason to butt into anyone else's workout unless you are giving them pointers to stay safe and injury free. Homie is grunting…

I have to say, I am very much in the same boat a lot of the time. For me, it's emotional. I have anxiety and I don't handle stress very well, so when I have an off day the first thing I reach for is food. Usually candy, chips, popcorn, anything sugary or fatty. Hell, if there's nothing in the house that's sugary I'll just…

I just discovered this thread and have to say, the pics are incredible. You do so amazingly well for yourself through hard work and dedication, but also a little forgiveness, which I think we all forget sometimes. I'm so glad you decided to put yourself out there and share with all of us that it is possible with…

when people say calorie counting is an issue, and think I have some sort of eating disorder they have to comment on. I'm still eating all the things I like, I'm just trying to figure out a balance and sometimes looking at what things are worth helps me do that. I don't understand why people think logging and watching…

Girl I need the motivation from friends sometimes too, I sent you a request

I'm a legal assistant/law clerk for an IP firm. Good times

There's absolutely nothing wrong with you sweet girl. We have all been there many, many times (at least I have). It's easy to overeat and not think about it until after the fact, that's just human. You are being so hard on yourself without realizing that you are aware and have acknowledged that you overate and feel…

Da Da Canada! Canuck in lovely GTA checking in. Hope everyone is starting the new year feeling good about their goals

I know exactly how you feel, I am very much the same way. I don't know if this will work for you, but I tend to cook extra when I cook my meals and then leave the extra in the fridge for when I have cravings. For instance, I cooked chicken and sautéed veggies this week and put the extra in the fridge in Tupperware. Last…

best answer to this entire thread I have read. It works for some people and not for others. Both sides are biased and we choose which side we best see ourselves reflected in. Eat what you can to stay healthy and happy, do what works and forget about what doesn't. You hit the nail on the head.
