I track my mfp steps when I walk on the treadmill and wherever I go. I usually come close to 10,000 most days and on occasion go over. I don't typically track my weight training or cardio any other way. I eat back all that is given me on mfp and it's been working well for me. Took a bit of tweaking but it's great now.

But also, like in my case, mfp gave me that number since I am sedentary and want to lose 2 lbs a week. Thankfully I'm doing cardio and weights so I get more t eat.

Hi, is this thread still active? I like the idea of eating 2000 calories a day. At 1200 plus my exercise (50% eat back) it usually brings me to about 1500 a day. I get so hungry sometimes. Are you both still eating at 2000 calories a day? If so, how much have you all lost?

Awesome. Thank you ninerbuff I appreciate all of your help.

Thank you so much AslSmile. I totally (finally) understand. Makes lots of sense.

Thank you so much for answering my question. So even with a substantial amount of weight to lose (at least 50+ lbs) this is the way to go? Eat at maintainence +15% on days lifting and maintainence -10% on cardio or rest days? Instead of the usual mfp's at 1 lb a week or 2 lbs a week etc. It feels scary to do Lol but I'm…

I hope mine goes down some. I'm working very hard!!

I'm new to lifting weights. I'm not quite sure of something. If I weight train while losing weight that's good as I understand it but when I get to my desired weight then I would have to "eat to gain" in order to build muscle? Is that right? Also been seeing "recomp" a lot. What exactly does that mean? Thank you in advance.

I eat back 50% of my steps on my iPhone which is synced with mfp.
-
Thank you for that information.

Me 4 LNS 5

That's great. Keep up the good work. Tracking has been key for me.

Sunday is my rest day and other than shopping or taking a walk I do rest. It's hard though because I love the gym so it takes effort not to go lol.
-
Thanks. Does that also include if you weigh it and track accordingly?
-
I have weighed chicken with bones and skin then weighed the bones and skin and subtracted.

So glad I asked the question as I've learned a lot of important information.

Oh not at all. I just opened it today for that reason. :-)

Hi no medical issues like thyroid but I do have hi blood pressure. Yes I have had some downward weight changes. I was 235 on June 30 and today I am 226. But the bulk of that was lost in the first 2 weeks. I did realize from the responses that I am indeed eating more than I even realized so I'm making this changes NOW.…

Thank you. You're so right. I just weighed my banana and my mango and it came out quite differently. I'll be weighing everything from now on. Again thanks.

Thanks. Makes sense

After reading another post from Francl127 about how off packaged foods are I think I will weigh them also.
-
Wow that's a big difference. Thank you for weighing in. Pun intended.
-
When you put it that way... Lol yes!!! Update. After reading another post about the discrepancies from someone who does weigh prepackaged, it can be substantial.

Me 3 LNS 5 Woot woot 3 day streak.

Thank you so much. Congratulations on your awesome weight loss. Hopefully I'll be able to one day eyeball food and also have the discipline to stay within reason without tracking. Thank you again.

Thank you for a lot of great information. I'm going to buy a tape measure today and start measuring each month. Also I'm putting the scale away. I think it a mental thing that I think if I don't weigh myself each day I'll gain 10 lbs lol which is impossible if I am tracking. Thanks again.
-
Thank you. I've been at it for awhile now. I've been trying to lose weight since forever but got serious about 2 months ago. Before I was losing at a good pace but it's gone to a creep now or like I said a gain

I'm not sure about that but if you have a smartphone you can track your steps. You just go to "home" then look all the way to the bottom right of your screen where you'll see 3 dots with the word 'more' under it. Click on that then scroll down and you'll see 'steps'
