Pork is a bad example because it comes in a package. That one is easy. I was trying to think of non-packaged items. How about fruits and veggies! But... realistically, I am a creature of habit and mostly eat the same kinds of foods. I think they should all pretty much be in my history...

Indeed they do not lol. But for example, I don't know how many calories are in 4oz of pork off the top of my head. Or how many calories are in 20grams of rice off the top of my head. MFP knows. Things with a label, I can log on paper but those without...I won't know without MFP's help.

I put my phone into 'Airplane Mode' just now to play around. It looks like I can still add by the 'Create New Food' button if I have the label handy.. Just curious though, if I wanted to mass add before I go back out of service, do I just pick a random day in the past to add everything that way it's already in my history…

Thank you. Going to be camping out of service for an extended period of time and won't have wifi. It's a scary thought knowing I won't be able to log :/

This!! I feel like you are over-complicating it. Track everything, you'd be suprised how many calories you wouldn't be logging..which will hinder your results.

It's all good! It's necessary that you do that, though! I can't tell you how much that chart helped me in the beginning when I started to lurk on the forums. It might save someone else that's reading. Thank you for being on top of it!

On the original post, I said I ate 1140 calories a day. I meant to say I eat 1440 calories a day. It is now edited!! Thanks!

Astoria here...non-rainy days are few and far between!! I have some weights, medicine ball, and step for aerobics at home and tend to use YouTube for my workouts! It's free and I'm out of the rain :)

I've lost a total of 3.4lbs in a month when I'm shooting for 2lbs a week. I should have lost more by now. I'm really wondering if 1,400 calories is enough since everything that I've read about BMR says I should never eat less than 1,700 a day... you can actually GAIN if you're not eating enough...thoughts?

I've only had one day in the last month that I would consider a "cheat day" food-wise, but still made sure I was under my calorie limit. I do not eat out either. I've considered getting a food scale. I have been measuring everything possible but not weighing.
