"For the first time ever, overweight people outnumber average people in America. Doesn't that make overweight the average then? Last month you were fat, now you're average" - Jay Leno I don't think it's ever too early to start teaching your family what real food & nutrition really is.. I mean unless you want your kids to…

Its the culture.. being stuck in the office for 8+ hours a day. I don't even look at the dessert table anymore at company sponsored events/meetings. I'll always go up with my team but grab a water bottle and maybe some crackers if they're unsalted. I'm the only female on my team and they know I eat pretty clean (we spend a…

I have a real sweet tooth so I love fruits.. def more than veggies. Strawberries, mango, grapes & watermelon. I recently learned that corn is a fruit (always thought of it as a veggie) so I'd add that too lol =P I still try to get at least 2 - 3 servings of veggies but I usually need some sort of dressing or dip with them…

haha I'm sure your colleague didn't mean to tempt you. I work with traders too.. the last thing they care about is how much they weigh without their wallet in their pockets lol bring your own delicious snack (like fruit, carrot sticks or even a protein bar) or eat something filling right before your meetings - you won't…

aww you're slimming up nicely! you're so beautiful! keep it going! =] ps. love the tat!

I have about 10-15 lbs to go but running, yoga & weight training really help me. Weight training may change the scale a bit but it'll tighten up those problem areas and boost your metabolism making maintenance easier. For your stomach, eating clean & early will do wonders especially when you have less body fat. Remember..…

bump I'm yet to find the right pair although I hear Sony makes some of the better earbuds for running / working out.

Get out there and try the machines! I used to be like this :-P get in and get on the treadmill and then leave. It did nothing for me. Go try the machines or weights - with a trainer or someone that can help you first though. You'll feel so much more accomplished and actually want to jump in. When I'm doing cardio or…

CHOCOLATE.. anything chocolate.. milk chocolate, dark chocolate, mint chocolate, chocolate caramel, chocolate hazelnut, choco-raspberry, chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate cake, etc... I resist it pretty well now but I still have cravings randomly for like a snickers bar.. I have chocolate protein bars and I'll have…

oh and make sure you're taking a multivitamin.. I hear it means your nutrients are unbalanced so your body feels unbalanced.

I used to be able to on drinking/party nights.. my cheat days used to take me to my maintenance level if I was in a binge mood. find foods that satisfy you (like veggies or yogurt) before you start feeling like you want to binge. If I think I'm in a junk food craze I'll have a piece of fruit or down a bottle of water first…

I suggest you get a second opinion from a medical professional before being so intuitive in your clean "cheat" meal. You wouldn't want to seriously harm your body.

I feel sorry for people that stress about what other people that they don't know do or don't do to better themselves. I suggest a diary or a shrink or finding something productive to better cope with such a stressful situation (cleaning or preparing food perhaps - don't worry you don't have to log it).

Well said.. I volunteer in the evenings serving food at a center and yes I have a lot of serving and cleaning to do for a lot of people that I don't do on a regular basis in my own house. For me that works up an appetite so I know I've been working up a storm. To each his own. You're not with them all day and maybe some…

^ Just because this was worth re-posting.. I realized that once I stopped "counting" I had so much more energy and piece of mind to spend my time on other things.. real things. You're so young and have soo much going for you.. Keep yourself aware of what you're consuming but don't let it be the center of your world. You're…

I totally understand how you feel. I've always been a healthy weight but hated feeling "fat" and "unhealthy" so I joined. (140 was my highest - with clothes & sneakers on.) But I wanted to be "skinny." I stopped counting for a while but to be honest I don't even remember how I used to eat before counting. =/ So now I've…

Some weeks you'll lose more, some weeks less. Have you spoken to your nutritionist about this? I suspect that because of your ED, your body's more sensitive to dietary changes and you probably need a professional to look at it. Good luck and get a second opinion! I'm sure if you're feeding your body appropriately, it will…

Maybe a diet break is due? If you've lost the motivation maybe you need to step back and re-assess where you are and how far you've come and how far you want to go. Everyone's different.. for some people it takes a couple months, others are better off making small changes over the long term. Grab a picture of the old you..…

MFP gave you that number because of the age, weight, height & activity level that you entered when you signed up, basically your BMR x activity level. Do you see yourself losing weight at 1750? Have you tried eating your exercise calories? If you're maintaining you should be eating back at least some of your exercise…

As long as you're getting adequate rest & nutrition and your body doesn't feel wiped out, if this is something you enjoy doing.. why not? I aim for between 30 - 150 minutes 3 - 5 days a week depending on what I'd like to work out and how motivated/energized I am that day lol

For the average Joe, I wouldn't really count it, unless grocery shopping really is that taxing on your body. I find it's one of those things that you just do and is already part of your daily activity calories. It's like logging going to the kitchen to make yourself a sandwich.

I'm 5'3" looking to lose between 10 - 15 lbs. Would love to have someone close to my goal! Feel free to add me! =]

^^this is a great list.. generally exercises where you're using the push/pull movements in your arm. I would also add that push-ups are great for it too. And there's a lot of great machines for your lat's if you workout at a gym.

oh wow these responses were quick! I'm going to up my cals for a bit and see where it takes me. Thanks everyone!!

Or maybe to gain weight? I don't think this is an even comparison. No one knows where on her journey she was. Was she a different height than you? or muscle to fat ratio? or she could even have been a really unhealthy skinny person -- starving herself and trying to work off the little that she had? A lot of people are…

Kudos to you for getting into your diet & exercise so early! Unfortunately, you can't really spot reduce so if your body is hanging on to belly fat it may be the last place you're going to lose. I'd keep up with the cardio..cardio is a great calorie burner.. you could try some HIIT (look it up - many people use different…

It's most probably water retention. 2 lbs x 3500 = 7000 calories over maintenance. Unless you at that much when you went out to eat (very unlikely) I doubt you have much to worry about. A lot of times when you eat out, you add a lot of sodium into your body that you normally wouldn't. That combined with weight gain from…

Anyone could do this, but you definitely wouldn't feel your best. As he pointed out, there's "a disconnect between eating healthy and being healthy." I wonder where his Twinkie diet would have taken him if he had followed it long term. And all he wanted was a healthy body fat, not a minimal one. And if you want to be at…

I agree with all the above posters: 1.) Your diet looks great! Keep it up! 2.) Increase in calories is a great idea. You don't look like you have a lot to lose and it would def be easier with a little more energy. 3.) Increase in protein. Maybe even a protein supplement if you need <- Would also be a good increase in…
