Thanks for the ideas everyone. :)

I was with my mom yesterday who struggles with her weight, and she told me her friends were all going to this personal trainer who is helping them lose weight. One of the first things she said to me is they told her their trainer said no carbs after noon. Knowing my mom's love for carbs, I told her no way was that…

I wonder this sometimes too. My activity varies from day to day. I have mine set at sedentary because I work a desk job. However, on days we are busy (I work in a surgeon's office) I am on my feet a lot of the day. On other days when it is quieter...usually Tuesdays and Thursdays when the doc is in surgery...I do a lot…

Not sure what's wrong with having a cookie or a peanut butter cup every day. I have a treat like that daily myself. And I agree with those that say it's not an addiction.

Well, even if you do put on weight, it will only be water weight and not fat as long as you're still eating at a deficit during that time. Not a big deal.
-
There's nothing wrong with eating fat. As stated above, your body needs it. I eat granola all the time. Love it, but I agree that it doesn't have a lot of protein and doesn't keep me satiated on its own. I usually have to eat it with something. Plus, it can be sort of a calorie bomb. Still, if you like it, find it filling,…

This.^^^ I've had a serving of Cheetos for the past couple days. I was craving them so I just fit a 1 oz. serving of them into my calories. Denying yourself the foods you love can be a recipe for failure down the road. You can have Doritos as part of a healthy diet. You need to make an eating plan that's sustainable.

I was eating the Bumblebee brand chicken salad snack on the run packs until I watched the news today. Don't think I will be eating them again, lol. That kind of turned me off of them, but they were good. I like the bbq, chipotle, and classic chicken salad ones. Maybe someday I will be able to stomach them again, lol.

Use measuring cups for liquids and the scale for solids. And your diet can consist strictly of "healthy" food and you can still gain/maintain weight. It's not about what you eat. It's about how much you eat.
-
No that's not what I'm saying, lol...nevermind. :)

Well, for the record. I typically weigh the bread before toasting, but I have weighed it after before just to see the difference. I was basically bringing this up as a general wondering as people have posted questions about this before...in regards to weighing food before or after cooking. I don't really use "toasted" or…

I usually gain a few pounds of water weight. In terms of cravings, forget it, lol. My cravings are horrid the week before my period. I am absolutely ravenous, and if I don't allow myself eat more I even get light headed and get the shakes...not to mention what it does to my mood. It's been that way my whole adult life. :(…

Yes, and that means that same piece of bread would add up to fewer calories toasted because it weighs less when measured. Say I don't weigh my bread until after toasting, it could come up to 10 or so calories less (going by the weight) than if I weighed it and ate it untoasted. That's why I always wonder if food should be…

Well, it does seem like a strange question. However, I have noticed something about toasted bread. It weighs less in grams than untoasted bread, but that's true with a lot of things once you heat them up. Frozen foods and meat are the same in terms of weighing less after they're cooked. But if you weight the bread before…

Seriously, you're killing me. I did not need to read this while in PMS mode, lol.

To start my life completely over. Would have done SO many things differently.

I completely disagree. In fact, my eating pattern is the exact opposite of that. But you will get various opinions as different things work for different people.

No. I eat the majority of my calories (700 to 800) between 9 and 10 in the evening and go to bed within an hour. I've lost 85 pounds doing this. The time of day you eat makes no difference in terms of weight loss. The saying that you shouldn't eat after a certain time is a myth. Unless you have a medical condition like…

Maybe you just don't want it bad enough. I went through most of my life saying I wanted to lose weight so bad. I tried and quit over and over. This time around has been different for me for several reasons. It's not just something I have to do but now something I truly want to do. Before, while I did want to lose weight, I…

I do a form of it because it works for me, and it's basically how I've always eaten even before I lost weight. I'm not a breakfast person. So I often don't start eating until around noon, and then I have my last meal around 9 or 10 p.m. So I have about a 10 or so hour window when I eat, and then a fasting period of about…

Why do a fast and a three hour walk? That can possibly lead to another binge. There's no reason to fast and increase exercise. You have to eat 3500 calories above maintenance to gain a pound. OP will likely not gain anything from this but water weight. There is no reason for her to punish herself because she went over her…

Meh, I ate over 3000 today. I'm logging it and going back to my deficit calories tomorrow. It was good, and I enjoyed it. I'm not going to regain the 85 pounds I've lost in one day. Don't give yourself a guilt trip over it. Log it, and move on. Just make sure it was worth it. ;) Nothing more annoying than eating that many…

^^This. My daughter is almost 13. I have already had the "talk" with her, but I've also made sure to let her know I'm open to discuss it again or answer any questions she has at any time. I would rather she talk to me than her friends, so I feel letting her know she could come to me with any questions at any time is…

It's more important to get your calories in. I see the protein and fat MFP gives me as a MINIMUM. And I rarely go over on sugar, but when I do it doesn't bother me. At the end of the day, weight loss is calories in vs. calories out, but you also need to eat enough to fuel your body. Eating too few calories is more…

You have to get to the point where you can be around that food without it bothering you. He's obviously not going to change, so you have to change your mindset. It can be done. I've done it myself. I live in a house where there is always yummy food around, but I've also learned to manage portions and make this food fit…

I've lost 85 pounds...50ish to go.
-
Why no protein or sugar? That's pretty limiting. And if you are eating less than 1000 calories a day you really need protein unless there is a medical reason you can't eat it.
-
Quest bars are pretty gross, but a lot of other people seem to like them, so they are worth a try for you I guess so you can decide for yourself. I like the Pure Protein bars myself.

If I'm being honest, this^^^. I still eat the foods I love and fit them in my diet, but I have to be mindful of how much and when (since I save the bigger portion of my calories for evening). I can't just go to my local Amigos everyday and eat two giant burritos smothered in ranch and salsa. Well, I could, but I would gain…
