The UK one is in September but unfortunately I couldn't get the team together as people were interested but then dropped out for various reasons. I might go along to cheer people on though as the route is not too far from where i live. How did your Ragnar go in May?

Great! we need to bust the misconception NOW that women that lift will get bulky. So not true and your after pic shows, way to go!
-
Cool, thanks for the info. I think I'm going to sign up, I just have to get the rest of the team!

You should be fine, especially as its a 5k. If you were looking to longer distances, you would have to find a happy medium. I lift and run up to half marathons and its taken a while to get the balance right but you can do both. Also, most runners now incorporate strength training to aid their running but again, you have to…

Hi! I still want to do it. Its the first one here in the UK and has been popular so places are filling fast. So you enjoyed it, was challenging and did you cope ok with the lack of sleep??

I agree with all the above, best to ease yourself into it, that's how my husband started. You really have to get yourself checked out with regard to vitamins and minerals etc as I considered becoming vegan but I have severe iron deficiency so would have to be careful that I get food containing the right nutrients to keep…

Yes, it was really nice to hear why people had decided to do it and it wasn't just super fit people so it gave me the confidence to want to do it!

Cool thanks! I think I should join a group, I just need to sort out childcare.. The documentary was called from fat to finish line. It was mostly people who had lost lots of weight and decided to take part in the Ragnar. I also saw lots about it on youtube. Hope it goes well for you and I can't wait to hear all about it!

Lots of factors here but it depends on the level you train at. The heavier you lift, the more muscle you build and the less fat you have so you get that tight look. The women who are 'ripped' probably work out more than the average person. Runners and yogi's, same thing depends on the amount they train. I run 4 times a…

Me here too! feel free to add me x

Training for 10k in May then I have a 10 miler in June / (would like to do Ragnar when it comes to the UK September so that's a maybe) and a half marathon in Oct.

Hi! I can recommend kettle bells. They are really good for strength and toning. While it seems like you are just lifting a weight, it makes you sweat lots (well me anyway!!) and its just a few movements. You can get anything from 5lb up to 20 but as you are just starting I think 10 may do. Have a look at some youtube vids…

I extended my lunch break shh, don't tell my boss! managed to do 3.16, miles so my balance with a day to go is 5.21
-
Hope everyone is well! I'm inching towards my goal. Ran 4.26 Miles Sunday (in the driving rain!) 8.37 miles to go to goal for Jan
-
Managed 2.59 today in my super short lunch break, balance 12.63 to go! (my challenge seems small compared to everyone else! maybe i'll double it next time...if i have time that is!
-
The UK is FREEZING today! Anyway 2.56 miles logged today in my very short lunch break - 15.22 miles to go. Time for me to step it up as January is nearly over!

Running and lifting. Running made me drop weights fast and lifting gives me more muscle definition while making me look leaner than when I just ran, but I suppose its whatever your body responds to. Brisk walking/swimming or dancing can achieve fast results too!

My little girl got sick so the long Sunday run went out the window! still, I managed 6.24 miles so my balance is 17.78 today. Hoping to get some more lunch time runs in and a few after work as the evenings are getting a bit lighter here in the UK.
-
Tiny steps towards the goal (I'm really time poor at the moment) Sunday 1.91 miles (did a quick sprint before going out I could have stayed in bed but decided not to!) Today 2.32 miles (only had a 30min lunch break today so had to get it done quick) 24.02 miles to get to goal. Hoping to get 2 more in this week - the long…

Hi! I do a combo of kettlebells and running. I find the weights help me with endurance/stamina in my running. I'm looking to start lifting properly to get leaner (lost quite a bit of weight but want to get better muscle tone).

I meant to say 30 miles in previous post! Only had a short lunch break today so did 1.75 miles so 28.25 to go...

Happy New Year all. I'm in (again). I tried in Dec but got injured so back on it this month. Will commit to 30 hours
-
Hiya! I'm from the UK so feel free to add me. I've been on and off again a few times but determined to stay this time.. :)
-
I'm in! I'll commit to 35 miles - did 2.33 miles in my 30min lunch break today so just over 32 miles to go!
-
Just read the update, that's great! I think he can now see how much this means to you xx

I'm sorry you are feeling so down, life is hard enough. Have you tried talking to your husband and asking for his help and support? It comes across loud and clear that you love him and if he loves you as much he will be willing to help you. Maybe he can come home and fix dinner 2/3 nights a week and maybe get a cleaner if…

Hiya! I use go old vaseline with a little aloe vera gel. A little sticky but it works for me. I don't tend to sweat too much, I use it for the bra rub/irritation I used to get when running. The body glide sounds good..

Not a nice man. If you are not confident enough, tell your husband and ask him to step up for you and if he doesn't/won't it might be time to be brave and pull your father in law aside and tell him that you will not accept the way he is treating you. Your weight is your concern and next time if he sees you eating and gets…

Sometimes when you make changes partners/friends feel threatened, like you don't love or have time for them anymore but if she really cared she would support your journey. Y are doing something positive, so keep going and maybe you will find someone who will journey with you!

Hi! my pace is about the same as yours. We may be slower than others, but much faster that people that don't try. Well done on getting a place for the London Marathon. I didn't get a place but will be out supporting those who did!
