Even though diabetes type 2 is considered preventable, genetics do play a factor. What our parents and grandparents ate is thought to have an influence on if we get pre-diabetes or not. Something like 1/3 of adults in the UK are pre-diabetic. I am on a diabetes prevention programme at the moment. Mine is definitely from…

I'm gluten, dairy & sugar-free and try to avoid processed foods. If it could be free from any of the above I would like a dominoes mighty meteor pizza, chip shop chips with tomato ketchup and good strong grated cheddar, washed down with original coca cola, and Ben & Jerry's cookie dough ice cream to finish please.

I had an amazing salad in a restaurant that I like to replicate: rocket, smoked sundried tomato (non-smoked works if your can't get smoked), shavings of parmesan, and sunflower and pumpkin seeds- toasted in tamari for full effect.

I'm not starting, but continuing. Could use an accountability buddy :)

Lean Caffiene do a bone broth powder, would that work for you? It says no preservatives or additives apart from sunflower. I get mine from Amazon. I add it to savoury meals, couldn't tell you if it is truly tasteless like it claims. Not too sure that it wouldn't work out just as pricey as meat though?

Fancy being an accountability buddy with me? :)

I would think nutrition is most important for the best chance of avoiding saggy skin as you lose weight. That and of course not losing it too quickly.

Another recovering carb addict here. Its no wonder you feel sleepy after carbs and then are hungry again, that's the insulin talking. I used to think I could never give up my carbs. My mindset has changed, and now I enjoy high protein, high fat food (I eat paleo, google it) and my attitude towards eating has really changed…

I need the name of this app!

Yesterday I discovered the Holland & Barett tubs are £5.29 for 1kg, and contain pure organic peanuts, nothing else, which makes it both cheaper than my regular brand (wholefoods) and better for me - win win! Oh, and I still enjoy the taste, which is the only thing I was sceptical about! I think the actual brand is called…

I thought HCG just meant you were a Huge Chunky Giraffe... I'm sure she doesn't want that. I'm on the rainbow diet. My favourite day is Brown, where you get to eat chocolate, steak and beer in unlimited quantities!

Have you asked your doctor about it? That would be the best place to start in my opinion. If you're in the states and the doctors is going to cost you (I don't know the ins and outs of how insurance works over there) then have a good google and see what comes up?

Geek no.2 here. Its not negative reinforcement either, unless you have someone shouting "Fat Fat Fat!" at you in the canteen until you choose the salad option  Now there's an idea...! I do understand what you mean though. Facing up to what you are right now, and loving yourself regardless is the best thing…

I can't recommend the insoles I bought enough - best £16 I ever spent. Google Insoles4U. No, I'm not paid to advertise them.. but I should be!

The humble egg - versatile and cheap as egg and chips! Make your own meals, rather than buy ready meals or already prepared things. a bag of potatoes will do you jackets, roast, mash, soup etc. Rubber chicken. Roast a chicken, have roast chicken with whatever on day 1. Day 2 is cold chicken and salad or in a sandwich. Day…

I've looked quite extensively into them, and not found one that I was totally happy with that wouldn't cost me a small fortune by the time i'd bought enough stuff for it. I think just eating raw organic vegetables (and include pulses, beans, nuts or quinoa for protein if you're going to do it for any length of time) and…

Yikes, I don't envy you with that choice - microwave or college food! Is it possible to choose good options from the catered menu - e.g. fruit and vegetables? Do they offer healthy options? I think if I were in your shoes I would try to get my breakfast (they should at least have a healthy cereal and/or fruit & yoghurt…

I refuse to allow destructive people to camp out in my head rent free.

It might help if you tell us what you are eating

Stress eater. I know I'm at breaking point with stress if I go off food, and can count and name on one hand the times that has happened. My problem is I get physical symptoms in my stomach when I'm stressed, that go with eating, ergo "perfect" comfort eating. I have typed myself a little set of mantras to read every night…

I opened mine up to friends this year. Last year I made some odd food choices which suited me, but attracted well meaning but ultimately demotivational comments from friends. This year I want to be accountable to my MFP friends. It does affect what I put in my mouth... a bit! but then if I have a disaster I just don't log…

Wow, lots of support here, thank you! ts funny, Its funny, I posted a while back wondering if anyone else was int he same boat and no replies... perhaps that was just the time of day I posed (from the windy UK) rather than becuase nobody else does the same?! I have given up chocolate for a whole year.. that's…

I seem to end up in a rhythm of McDonalds twice a year, and perhaps visit some other fast food place once every other month or so. I do tend to buy prepared sandwiches at fuel stations though, so if that counts I have it about once a week and am really trying to be a lot more organised as I rarely crave them, just end up…

You're hogging the thread

Wow thanks for this thread! Most vegetable based soups would come in at around or under this mark.

And this is the main reason I often either don't have enough protein or end up eating more meat than my budget likes. Just can't seem to get enough protein in a veggie diet, which I would much prefer!

If I knew the answer to that, I wouldn't be here myself :flowerforyou: Have you tried filling up on high bulk low calorie foods? Have you suddenly cut from previous portions to small ones, when it might have been better to gradually cut down? Are you eating consciously, slowing down when you eat and savouring every…

Hi everyone, can I join? I'm in the last 6 1/2 months of my degree, and damn its HARD to avoid mindless eating while trying to write essays or revise. Hints and tips on avoiding eating unnesescarily, or what to eat if I've got the revision munchies are DESPERATELY needed! xxx

 I like your fiesty-ness - god help any punch bag that's near to you today  Yes I do get your point, and I don't know the answer. Perhaps muscles are only used up to a point then fat? Horses, I'm telling you, are so much simpler! Diet, fat, muscle when there's nothing else.
