I need your ideas for more protein please!
I'm quite a way off hitting my protein macros, on 40/30/30. I need to eat dairy and gluten free, highish fibre and 2 tbsp ground flax seed per day. I've been having that soaked in almond milk for breakfasts, but I could do with adding more protein to that meal in particular. I have tried adding nut butters, nuts or seeds,…

Hi all I have 6 stone of weight to lose, and wil be calorie counting on MFP. Would anybody in the UK who has similar goals be interested in joining…

There must be someone else here who does/did comfort eat or
Please help. Does anyone else emotionally eat, or just eat a ton of food without even realising it until afterwards? Last night I got in from work, and because I was on the phone (getting stressed out by the phone call) I ate not only that but half a block of stilton cheese with celery! :noway: I was done before I realised…

Why peanut butter & almond butter?
I often see either of these mentioned in diet formulas, or in people's posts. Why, what do they contain/not contain that is so good? I'm trying to break free of my old thinking, which would usually have included "peanut butter is bad for you because it is high in fat".

Chicken and root veg soup
I am pretty chuffed at how well this one turned out so thought I would share. I made a big pot of chicken stock from the carcasses - you could use the equivalent of chicken stock cubes. Chicken stock (or stock cubes and water) 1 swede 3 carrots 4 Parsnips 2 onions 3 garlic cloves Salt & pepper to taste ground nutmeg I just…

Lowering & improving my carbs... please would you look at my
I am finally, begrudgingly, admitting that it is sensible to eat less carbohydrates. I have been on Nerd Fitness and am going to be slowly adapting my diet to paleo/caveman as and when things run out of my store cuboards! Its only the second day since I decided to adapt my diet over, and I still have quite a lot of…

Any human biology/ physiology experts? Burning Muscle vs fat
Hello :) I know a bit about physiology through my equine science course (anat & physiology inc. exercise physiology & nutriton for horses) but obviously we humans are different from horses, so I am interested in the human physiology of weight loss, and have a backrgound which means I can understand and want quite technical…

Help please! Eating on the hoof, let's hear your ideas!
I hope this thread will help lots of us, not just me. I'm a typical, busy person. I am a full time mature student, and I work two jobs. Today for example, I studied for 3 hours this morning, then will go to job no.1 between 11.30am and 6pm, then I'll work 7pm til 11pm in my second job - it will take about 40 minutes to…

Identifiying and dealing with the cause of your excess fat
I think this is a really important subject for ALL of us on here who are losing weight. I've always battled with my weight, and I know I comfort eat. achey muscles and general tiredness and sleep deprivation wh
Hi all I'm sitting exams for university the next month or so, and wanted some nutritional advice. I study best late at night, and work shifts, so sleep patterns can be erratic at the best of times. Mostly I just move my day that way and have a lie in, but days like today I have to fit in with society and be up and about…

Yesterday was AWFUL in the opposite to normal way - NEGATIVE
Hi all Well yesterday was a horrendous day, although 6 months ago I'd have said it was brilliant. I managed to end up on MINUS 550 calores! Had an unexpectedly loooong evening shift as a waitress (only just started work again this week, so at the mo I'm logging it as X hours slow walking, although after week 2 I'm going to…

*Grump* I need help to get more protein
Hi all Just a quick post to say I am really struggling to eat enough protein. According to many on here the target values are quite low, and I'm not hitting that on a regular basis. Probably not helped by the fact that I am an *almost* vegetarian - almost is because I'm not veggie, but I don't eat meat unless its ethically…

Strength training?
Hi all I have searched the forums but I guess I'm, doing it wrong because I can't find what must be a really common topic: what counts as strength training? I have been doing only cardio so far but am conscious that I need to include strength too. I do a pilates class once a week, and I'm not sure if that counts as…

Is the calorie to exercise calculator on here really accurat
Hi all Fairly new to this site, but I am amazed by the amount of calories that exercising burns on here. Fair enough I have a heck of a lot to lose, but even so... 20 minutes on the Cross trainer burning 300 calories... really?? How accurate do you think the exercise calories are?
