Also, the way my kids and I have still been able to remain polite in her presence is to remember all of the crazy things she says and the pain she inflicted has been going on for decades. My husband did not have a warm loving childhood, However, he has become a wonderful husband and an amazing father by making sure he…

You can't change her so don't even worry about it. I've used the phrase "Thank you! That is a very interesting idea. I will have to think about it." There is no where for the fight to go. She doesn't need to know I did think about it and decided to disregard it. She used to complain to me about the most rediculous things…

I have some great ones but I'm just going to bed and have a busy day tomorrow prepping for a pre-thanksgiving dinner. I can post them in the mid day but that might be too late for you.

This is my favorite. I've even cut the milk and the shortening before but I prefer it this way. Oh - for those who don't know me .... I find great satisfaction in preparing wonderful meals and sharing them with those whom I love. I take great pride in converting old family recipes into more healthy versions my family still loves without sacrificing the flavor in the process. If I don't spend adequate time in the…

Tpers and DrakesGirl are screen names I made up for my daughters in order to meet the minimum requirements to start the private group. They are wonderful dynamic young woman that I will introduce if they ever start using the site.

Fififox's yummy dairies helped inspire me to create this group. She's a wonderful mother of two who lives in Ireland. She is motivated to spend more time in the kitchen so she can limit her families intake of processed foods. She has even inspired me to watch Dexter!

Ladytinkerbell99 is our latest member. She is a remarkable woman who volunteers in many capacities and still finds time to log onto mfp regularly. She is a new new friend but the more I learn about her the more I like her. Please join me in welcoming her to our group.

Doing the math it is cheaper for us to have a nice meal at home than to go thru a drive thru. Just because your family goes thru the drive thru doesn't mean you need to eat it. Start cooking your own food in small quantities so you can have a nice dinner and an easy lunch. You can lead a horse to water.....

I loved baked apples but have never tried anything like this. We are making a pre-Thanksgiving turkey with all the trimmings on Saturday so I think I will add this as a yummy dessert option. If I can wait that long to try it.

Thanks! I'll have to try it soon!

We've done this methods successfully for years at VBS and picnics. I put ice in the big bag and sprinkled with table salt. If you add frozen berries to the small ice cream bag it goes even faster. It only takes a few minutes and is quite fun.

We are all watching what we eat or we wouldn't be on MFP. Eating cholesterol in and of itself doesn't automatically raise the cholesterol in your body. Check out http://www.3fatchicks.com/does-eating-eggs-raise-your-cholesterol-level/ Or here is the info below. How Cholesterol Is Accumulated in the Body Contrary to popular…

The donvier machine is nice and in your price point. Although you can always use a bowl that goes in the freezer and stir with a whisk at 15-30 minute intervals. The more you stir the creamer it will be.

I make low cal homemade "puddings" that have between 5 and 50 calories a serving. I make a lemon "pudding" by adding lemon juice, 0cal sweetener, cornstarch, 2 cups of water, and 1/8 cup egg beaters and cooking until thickened. I make a chocolate version using water, cornstarch, 0cal vanilla syrup, 1/4 cup milk and 1-3/4…

The point of the oil is not to effect the pasta. Although you are correct that the oil does not touch the pasta and has no effect on it. It does effect the surface tension of the water. Some pastas release a lot of starch into the water which can foam over if you are not using a big enough pot or sufficient water. (ie…

Cardio is strength training for your heart! Some people are focused on being the "perfect weight" or the size of their muscles. Sadly they don't think of their heart until they have problems with it. Pesonally, if you are an either/or type of person and won't do both I would chose to strength train my heart cause without…

Generally there is already enough salt in the pasta so unless you are a salt junkie you might want to try not salting the water and discover for yourself which you prefer.

Can't stand ground turkey unless it's the 99% FF. Then it's a matter of what you do with it. The people who can't cook a moist chicken breast will tend to have bad experiences cooking ground turkey. In the right hands it can be a wonderful ingredient to cook with.

I never thought to puree the beans before. I will have to try this next time. :D

I cook mine in the slow cooker and they turn out fine. My mom and grandmother have always said that when making chili, soups ext with dried beans DO NOT add the tomatoes until the beans are at the desired tenderness. They swore that adding the tomatoes (or any acid) too early would make the beans tough. It may be an old…
