Recently, whenever I'm craving something sweet, I buy grapes, berries, dried fruit in place of dessert foods. It might be something to think about keeping around, for situations like this.

The only sugars you should really be worrying about, unless you're diabetic, are added sugars.

Spinach, kale, and other dark, leafy greens. Although, for kale, I suggest locating some baby kale, if possible. It's much more appetizing, in both cooked and raw form. It makes a great salad.

Sounds like a good use for the lentils I have sitting around in my cupboard. Thanks!

It's good to know that exists, because I can't stomach Stevia. Thanks to everyone for all the replies! This gives me a good list of options to look into.

LOL, I don't even pretend to hold back my burps for ANYONE. Of course, I've also never even pretended to be anything remotely close to lady-like, so...

For this, I'd be willing to use whey. A lot of places around here sell the Bob's Red Mill products, so I'll have to see if one of them has it. Thanks!

I have a friend who started with Nike Frees, which are slightly thicker in the sole, and worked his way to the NB Minimus. That being said, definitely ease into it. You're working parts of your feet and legs that never get worked because of your shoes, so it's going to suck at first, and doing too much too quickly is going…

I don't think it's the advent of eReaders so much as the advent of internet shopping. I actually buy most of my physical books through the internet, because there is a larger selection out there and you can find most of them for a lot cheaper than you would at most bookstores. I also pretty much only buy used books, both…

Yes. Set aside time each day, even if it's only 10 or 15 minutes, and stick to that time, even if you have to set aside two or three short periods of time each day. Eventually, it'll become so routine that you don't even think about it.

I second everyone who recommended you seek out a dietician/nutritionist. For an adult, it's OK to learn through your own reading and trial-and-error, but for a kid, it's very important to get it right. She's still growing, so proper nutrition is key. Not getting enough protein or B-12 can be VERY dangerous for anyone, but…

I'm not sure how well it would work for long hair, but I've switched to the no-shampoo method: 1-2 tablespoons of baking soda dissolved in 1 cup water, applied every day or every other day; 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar in 1 coup of water, applied once a week for a conditioner. My hair was sort of gross for the first…

Wow, I was just trying to clarify my point. Sorry I've chosen to concern myself with a profession in which I wish to some day make money.

I get that it's possible to legally have hundreds of books for free, but it seems improbable that you could acquire 99% of your book collection for free unless you really don't care about what you're reading. Also, I don't know about your library, but mine only lets me check out 25 books at a time. I guess, if you were…

I get that, and there's nothing wrong with reading classics, but this person admitted to paying for only 2 books out of 300. That seems a bit skewed, to me, unless they're only reading classics or books with lapsed copyrights. It's possible, but it seems improbable if digital books are your main source of reading material.

People were calling the Olympic athletes fat. OLYMPIC ATHLETES. There's calling a spade a spade and then there's calling a spade a shovel because it doesn't fit into your ridiculously distorted view of size and "beauty". Plus, whether it's "publicly displayed" or not, your body is still YOUR body, and no one has the right…

That article assumes that everyone interested in clean eating is looking for some magic pill for weight loss, and that "clean eating" actually translates to "body building diet", which...is not how I understand clean eating. I eat whole foods because they taste better, they make me feel better, and I know what the hell is…

To me, it's eating as high a percentage of whole, unprocessed foods as I can afford. Whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, raw or minimally processed (read: cooked) nuts and seed, whole cuts of fresh meat (which, for me, is just fish), and the like. It's also about avoiding eating as many processed foods as possible.

I get that, but 298 free versus 2 purchased seems like a rather disproportionate number for absolutely every one of those 298 to be legally acquired, particularly if that's the poster's main medium for reading. Unless they're really only reading the ones that are legally free, which, if that's the case, I do apologize.

That's not really something you want to be proclaiming in an open internet forum. This is what I dislike most about e-Readers. Authors trying to make a decent living aren't going to make as much because it's easier to steal a digital copy than it is to steal a physical copy. If nothing else, buy the ones from the…

I prefer books, but I've been using the Kindle app on my phone to read books at work, because I already carry enough stuff to and from. It's pretty handy, I have to admit, but I still prefer to have the actual book in hand.

THIS. By my family, too.

I've actually found that the way I used to eat vs. how I eat now come out to about the same amount. The only difference really is that now I buy a lot of stuff at once and it lasts for a week or so. Before, I would buy just what I happened to be eating at the time, so each shopping trip or fast food trip didn't cost much,…

As a pescetarian, this is actually a really good thing to know. Definitely buying kosher gelatin from not on.

I don't know about the "under 1200" people, but the last time I had a pro-eating disorder person on my feed, it really wasn't helpful to my goals at all, and was actually pretty triggering in terms of my own mental health issues. I don't need that sort of toxic environment on a site that I'm using as a tool to improve my…

I saw some woman wearing them while riding her bike (in traffic), today, and I couldn't help but think that she'd probably have been better off just pedaling barefoot. I'd be terrified to try and pedal down a busy street with those on. They're really not that great for your feet, either, particularly if you're doing…

I'm related to the family that started L.L. Bean. I'm also legitimately related to Hilter's family, though I think it's pretty distantly.

Standing's also better for your body in general.

I use baking soda. No, really, it's the best deodorant AND anti-perspirant I've ever had. I had to stop using regular deodorants because I'm allergic to something in them, and those all-natural ones don't work worth ****.

Because, if I didn't, I'd be running off about 700 calories a day.
