I'm no expert by any means. However, I've heard of people who had been weight lifting for a while saying they wished they had started doing so on day 1.

I guess I was asking if I could lose weight eating 1800 calories worth of junk or is there only weight loss when you eat 1800 calories worth of clean/healthy foods. I agree on the part about making it easer to fill my nutritional needs. It was almost impossible trying to fit all the protein I wanted in a 1480 cal day.…

I thought so. When it comes to my diet though I want to be 100% sure :) Thanks for your input!

This is my favorite thread of all time.

That's actually pretty good. People who lose weight really fast normally gain it back just as fast. Slow and steady wins the race!
-
I know this is dumb, but I feel like if I eat at a maintenance I will gain weight. It's a lot of calories I will be able to eat in a day.

Definitely weigh your food! You'll see results depending on your eating habits (calorie deficit) and exercice. I know that's not the answer you wanna hear but it really does all depend on you. I saw results within two or three weeks. Food with high protein keeps me full.

Possibly. But since I haven't tried it yet I really have no idea. I just know that I have cut out a lot of my favorite foods in order to try to get in as much protein as possible all the while trying not to starve. I can't seem to find the right balance. (Feel full + get all my protein in + be in a calorie deficit)

Hmm, maybe I eat too many snacks? I usually eat my breakfast (egg whites + protein drink) at 10am. At 12pm I'll eat some chicken slices (2oz) with some grapes) and then at 3pm I'll have my snacks which is usually a banana with a 100 cal snack. At night time as a 'desert' I'll eat my granola bar which I REALLY don't want to…

Oh no, I would never take it to that extreme. I just wanted some input before I tried it. I really love my meat which I eat at dinner time. Because I'm lifting, I'd like to eat more of it. I don't count the calories I'm burning while lifting and I really don't care for cardio but if it give me some more wiggle room for my…

I'm not sure how many calories would be considered a nice dinner. Maybe 600-700? I only have 1500 cals to eat (to lose .5 lbs a week) and after a small breakfast, small lunch, and my snacks I feel like I'm not left with much left.
-
I do it all. Although, I don't track my calories burned for my weightlifting.

My husband says its mostly sitting and hearing people's testimonies. On the table you are sitting at there's a bunch of candy right in the middle and they refill constantly. I think I can however take my own snacks but I'm not sure if we'll have a fridge or not so it would have to be mostly fruits + peanuts that I take.…

I only drink water now. It's very easy to get rid of other drinks as I hate alcohol, beer, coffee, cokes, etc. The only thing I really loved was sweet tea but once I realized how much sugar each sweet tea drink had I never thought about them again.

I usually only have a piece of gum if I'm my tummy is growling but I can't grab a snack or eat. For example, during church or if I'm at the park and didn't brink snacks with me. I never swallow it and yet still make sure to log it in. Those calories add up! I've learned my lesson with mints.

Do you weigh your food?

Great information! Especially the part about not able to see a lot of muscle gain which is something else that was also bothering me. Not that I have been doing this too long (3 weeks) but because I'm such a newbie I didn't know when I should be expecting to see a difference. I'll be purchasing a measuring tape today. I…

Yes, I am eating at a deficit and hitting my protein goal (whether it matters or not it's important to me). The only thing that was really bugging me from my strength training was that I didn't know which way was more affective. Going to the gym, lifting heavy, and only doing a few sets made me feel like I was doing it…

Get stronger. Lose fat.

Thank you all. I had no idea perfecting a form was something I should always be focusing on. Now that I am aware, I feel a lot better! Even if I can only do 2-3 correctly, it's better than doing 8-10 incorrectly. I'll keep that in mind from here on out

This made me chuckle. Thank you everyone! I feel a lot better about the whole thing. Very new to the whole weightlifting thing so I am always coming up with questions and since it's so new I can't tell if it is something to even worry about or not. This definitely helps.

What she said :)

I'm not at all surprised at pizza being #1 and chocolate being #2. They are the reason I am here ;)

My thing is, why do WW when you can use MFP for free?
-
Lol I was gonna say.. I don't want to lose THAT much a week. Maybe before when I was overweight but now it would be a bit harder to do that.
-
Welcome!! Glad to see that you are motivated.

Egg whites. Yum yum yum.
-
Yeah but only for like, 2 weeks. I'm excited to start!!

The first time around I did this and was miserable. Always super hungry!! I mean I lost the weight and was always under my calorie intake goal, but I was tired and hungry all day everyday. The second time around (now), I'm paying a lot more attention to what I eat. Yes, still not going over my calorie intake goal for the…

That makes sense. Until now I have been working out with my husband. I will be starting strong-lift 5x5 soon!!
