Me, too. I'm lean enough and I'm enjoying eating maintenance calories. I may do a small cut in May but I have not been motivated to try and stay sub-20% body fat for the last few months.

Chicken thighs, eggs, carton egg whites, canned chicken, beans, Greek yogurt, whey protein. These are my daily sources of protein. I get around 120-150g per day.

I walk my dog pretty regularly and it's great for both of us. It's the only cardio I do, outside of the odd 20 minute FitStar routine. So, yes to helping you lose weight. Not going to gain muscle walking the dog, though. Consistency is key. The more you walk the better shape you will be in and then you can get back to body…

I used to see a chiro for chronic neck issues and he always told me to rest and ice the area after my adjustments.

I hear you. I loathe treadmills or any kind of cardio machine. I do like hiking or walking & biking in the warmer months. I do strength training 4-5x week and the little bit of regular cardio I do is enough.

Hilarious!

I didn't think I had any loose skin. Until I was doing a plank and looked down toward my belly! But, I'm 48 and had a baby at 42. I don't think my skin is going to snap back anymore. In general, I'm happy with my weight loss & fitness & I try to not look when I plank :D

I have a Fitbit Flex. On days I don't log exercise it gives me a Tdee of 1700-1800 calories & I do seem to maintain on that.

Yup. Snow day here. Kid is home because school cancelled. Screws up my workout schedule. But, I can go shovel snow for some cardio.

Wow, you look fantastic!

I'm 5'2" tall, 118-120.

I'm nowhere near the level that the photo of the woman above is in. I'm 5'2" & 118-120 lbs & 48 yrs old.I've been lifting for 3 years after some years off from most exercise. Got pregnant at 42 & gained some unwanted weight for the first time. At 30, I joined my first gym & loved lifting, though it was mostly machines. I…

I was definitely more bulky when I was 22 lbs heavier and not lifting.
-
*kitten*, really? That ain't fair :s Remind me to never bulk.

Yeah, those "afters" do not look natural. at. all.

Oh, but they would if they could!

I think women can expect to gain .5-1 lb of muscle per month if eating over maintenance and training consistently. But, you can't just gain in your glutes. You can target working your glutes if you have something to work with. Everyone has glutes, of course, but some glutes are very underdeveloped. Bret Conteras' Strong…

You can build muscle if you do the right things to do so. Eat a surplus and lift. But, just lifting alone (without the calorie surplus) isn't going to turn anyone into Arnold. Squats will firm up whatever glutes you have. But without the materials needed to build muscle (food!) it isn't going to happen. Or, at least not to…

Here is my before and after. 4 years between the photos. Even though I am sitting in the first photo I think you can see how bottom heavy I was. It wasn't just pregnancy pounds. All the women on my mother's side have huge butts & hips. Now I'm glad for my pear genetics. I'm quite muscular and my butt & hips still give me…

I had to get very, very lean to lose my bust. Since sub 20% body fat was difficult to maintain for me, the girls are back but I didn't gain any significant fat in my hips or anywhere else.

Do it, it's never too late! @middlehaitch & Ernestine are proof of that! I'm going to be 47 in less than a week. I started progressive lifting a couple years ago and the benefits are amazing!

Yum! Pierogi?

Also, I lost inches from all over at the same time. But, I had more fat on my lower body so as I lost I still looked bottom heavy until I gained muscle in my upper body. I really chased fat loss to lose my hip/butt fat but got so lean on top that I lost my already small, 34B bust. I purposely gained a little fat back so I…

I'm 5'2" & 47, also a pear. When I finally stuck to eating at maintenance consistently the inches came off steadily. I went from 137-118 in about a year ( I set loss to .5 lb a week). At first I lost 9 lbs but went on vacation & gained some back, had to start over. I was at 130 lbs then. My hips were 40". In 5 months I got…

I found a used power cage, only bar & free weights on Craigslist. I'd started doing StrongLifts 5x5 at the gym, loved it and quit the gym. You can go to the SL site and look at lift videos to learn how. There is a free app, too.

Thank you, I will look into programs to do that.

If you have fat to lose you have to lose it through eating at deficit. You can't tighten up fat. Exercise for health. Lift weights to develop firm muscles once the fat is gone.

Thanks for the responses. I'm doing: Monday-back & chest Wednesday-quads, hams, abs Friday-triceps, biceps, calves Body weight warmup before lifting plus walking & 30 minutes of cardio. I do think I was working beyond my ability to recover, previously. Hopefully, I can find out what is going on with my shoulder. I recorded…

I'm 47, almost 48 and yes, periods got much heavier. Until this month. 2 days, very light. It's crazy, the hormonal changes. I guess I'm peri menopausal. I got pregnant at 42, btw. 5-6 months after stopping birth control with no other interventions. Good luck!
