  • I'm not a huge fan of eggplant, but I do like eggplant parmesean. 1) Take 1 egg plant and cut into slices. 2) Dip slices in beaten egg whites (3) and then dip in bread crumbs. 3) Place on baking sheet and bake @ 450 for 10 min or until slightly brown. 4) Pour 1/2 C of spaghetti sauce into bottom of baking dish. 5) Layer…
  • I know it is hard, but you will never lose the weight unless you eat well. I would say start with a small change this week and add small changes every week. for example, only eat the exact portion of foods this week (even if they aren't the best). Next week replace one snack food with a fruit that you really like, etc.,…
  • I think MFP overestimates. I don't use HRM, but when I use the treadmill at the gym, I always get less than MFP.
  • Not sure about the calories, definitely check with your OB so you are doing things as safely as possible. I did want to encourage you with exercise. I worked out with all of my pregnancies, but especially my third. I walked, jogged (first trimester/early second, after that it felt uncomfortable to me so I didn't do it),…
  • If I'm over (which I try not to do too often, but it happens), I go for an extra walk or jog :) don't stress, that's not too bad. Most programs give you a range anyways.
  • The only thing I can think is maybe you are eating too much. I also gained a lot of weight while training for a marathon. I ate back everything I burned and then some. I also ate junk to refill my body, maybe look at the quality of food you are eating too. I actually pared back my workouts for an entire month until I got…
  • WTG!!!!! That's a grea change!!!
  • It does make sense. If I eat back all of my calories I don't lose. If I am really hungry, I eat some of them back, but never all of them. I've heard some people say to eat them all back, but like you, I tend to splurge on my exercise calories so it works best for me to not eat them. I also figure this gives me a cushion in…
  • Agree with early in the morning after bathroom naked, but the most important is to be consistent. Even one meal, your clothes, a drink can change your weight. Always weigh at the same time of day.
  • It seems like there is always a party/event where I don't have a lot of control over the food. I have to do things like this a good bit and this is what works for me: 1) Eat well during the day, but on the lighter side. 2) Drink lots of water all day to fill yourself up 3) Get a good workout in the day of the party as well…
  • Every week I lose even a little bit I treat myself to something. I will buy myself a new compact, lipstick, nail polish, pen, anything small just to give myself a little congratulations. I also reward myself for bigger losses by doing something nice for myself like a hair cut and color, special day out, movie, etc. I have…
  • Well said!! Even though I am still 10lbs away from my goal weight, some people have already saide "how skinny" I look, but it is just because they are used to me nearly 17lbs heavier. Sometimes people say things out of jealousy or just b/c they dislike change, especially good changes for someone else. Stick with it and be…
  • I agree to just start running. Aim to move for 25minutes. Start off running and if you need to walk, walk and catch your breath, then run a little bit. Just move that whole time and you'll be back to running the full 25 in a few weeks. As for the food, I would try to drink as much water as you can and add in some healthier…
  • Just want to say it is so great to see so many tall women on here!!! When you are tall, you feel like your weight is so high, even when its healthy for you. Glad to see my goals fall in line with so many others!!!
  • The BMI can be helpful, but it has to be taken with a grain(or lots) of salt. In college when I was playing soccer (running miles everyday, lifting weights, probably the best shape of my life), a nurse actually wrote down that I was obese because I was outside of the BMI for my height (5'8" and 168 lbs). My husband is the…
  • Great job!!!! That must feel really great!
  • Just go for it. My first 5K was a Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving and it was sooooo fun!!! The atmosphere was really relaxed and some people ran really hard and others walked, pushed babies in strollers, etc. I trained for about 2 months before my first one, but you could walk and do less training. Oh-I was also newly pregnant…
  • Just saw this post, but glad I'm not the only sweaty girl!!! I sweat terribly whenever I do any workouts...I def have to shower right after.
  • HI! For me, I had to change my diet in order to lose weight. I trained and completed a marathon and actually gained weight. As for your house, I would try to get your family on board with healthy eating. You can still keep a few snacks around, but if you are eating well, the rest of the family will follow. My kids are…
  • I'm 5'8" and would like to weight between 145-150, but I may stop at 150-155 if I think that looks and feels good. I have a big bone structure and muscular build. I am currently at about 158 and feel really good but would like to lose just a bit more.
  • I began running about 4 years ago. I hadn't run since college so I definitely was not in shape for it. The best thing to do is start really slow. Aim to go a half mile walking and running mixed, then work up to running a half mile/walking a half mile, then running a full mile. After that add little goals. I also find that…
  • Exactly. I sprained mne as a high school student and it still bothers me to this day with stiffness and popping. I have found the alphabet tracing and slowly rising up on your toes really helps. Also, overall strength training seems to help. If it is still really bad there a are soft braces and air casts that you can wear…
  • Interesting article. I don't weigh everyday, but I do weigh a few times a week. I have tried losing weight without using the scale, but I am always in too much denial. Keeping close track makes me think about what I'm eating and inspires me to make better choices.
  • Don't give up your sweets completely!! There are sooooo many awesome, low cal treats you can find to replace your other sweets. I have a minute made frozen lemonade every night. I feel like I'm getting a treat but it doesn't hurt my calories!!!
  • Congrats on grad school!! I'll be there soon along with working and raising three kids so I know how hard it is when you are busy. I would recommend making a small change every week. For example, eating only the proper serving size at each meal, then the next week, cut back on snacks, the next week adding an extra fruit,…
  • I love running and walking outdoors best for the same as above. I get bored on the treadmill. I do like the treadmill for extreme weather (heat, snow, ice, freezing temps). If you can afford it and will use it and have space, it may be a good investment. I trained for most of a marathon on the treadmill.
  • Awesome question!!! I love that no matter my weight, my husband always finds me beautiful and attractive. Having said that, I appreciate when I recognize I need to lose a few lbs he is very supportive and joins me. I guess I want someone who will support me no matter what, but also wants the best health for me! I love…
  • I know.....it is dissapointing to find out how much everything is. One trick that has really helped me is trying to order the "healthier" options at restauraunts, but I only eat about half of my meal. We go out to eat a decent amount so this has allows to still eat out, enjoy food, and still lose weight. Good luck and good…
  • I agree, it is much more about how you look and feel then a number. When I was in college playing soccer and lifting really heavy weights, my weight stayed around 165 (I'm 5'8") and I looked great, but now after 3 babies and almost 10 years, even though I still run and lift weights, I look much better when my weight is…
  • Wear my bathing suit and feel really good about it!! Congrats to everyone!
