Yeah - I am very pleased to hear that I am not the only one left. Wow- that will be tough on your legs doing the 5K at this stage- especially when you are not used to running on concrete. Most important thing is to take care of your knees- an injury of them would be awful. I am actually going ok - and it staggers me to say…

Where is everyone????? I posted two full days ago and not a soul has done so since. Are people still doing this - or has this thread moved elsewhere???

From my experience so far - as limited as it is - the finish dates will continue to be even more widely spread, not because of the start date necessarily but because of varying reasons people have to postpone days - or repeat days or even repeat weeks. My daughter started a week behind me - but then injured her foot…

January girl - try not to be embarrassed at what is happening- I actually acknowledge what is going on( to those around me as well if necessary) and try my best to continue what I am doing. If the hot flush( we use a slightly different term here in Aus) stops me from continuing what I am doing I just ask those around me to…

I have always been of the belief that you burn more calories in the cold- the body has to work to maintain body temperature. I am not so sure how significant it is though - especially in temperate climates.

Please can I join in late- although I am a titch ahead as I completed D1W4 yesterday - but just found this group and you seem like a lovely group of people. I have not done any running at all since I left school way back......... way way back really as I am 55 and after a very bumpy few years am finally beginning to take…

polar ft7 - I love it, Comfortable, easy to use- I don't need any other fandangles for what I do, I have never had a single problem with signal drop out - it has worked perfectly from the day it arrived.

Just completed W4D1 and am delighted to say that it went pretty well!!! I was really worried about two five minutes runs- but overall they were fine - I was glad when it all finished but continued to walk for a further hour afterwards. I can't believe that I am in week four already and running ,with relative comfort for…

Here in Australia the recommendation is 2 fruit and 5 vegetable per day. When following this recommendation I have never exceeded my sugar levels. I must say though that I don't generally choose to have added sugar in anything - although I am aware it can be high in the small amount of prcessed food that I may eat

I am in Australia and I believe our sizes are the same as British sizes. I am currently at 89.3 kg which comes out as almost exactly 14st and i am just renewing my wardrobe with size 18s- they fit well , have a normal amount of space for movement but are certainly not loose- BTW I am exactly 5.5. I have an older shirt…

Decisions made by you for you - have absolutely nothing to do with other people, you control you and what you choose to best look after you. Hold your head high with pride for what you have managed and don't give a spare thought to others opinions of the processes you have chosen to get yourself into a healthier situation.…

Lisa- yes my dog is a westie - and my wonderful companion for almost everything. He loves the c25k program and when we are just walking, which we do every day, he often tries to get me to run as well. I give in sometimes but generally want to preserve the rest days as my old bones definitely need the rest. I am about to…

I am having technical problems tonight for some crazy reason and have managed to lose two posts that I have been almost ready to post. I am thrilled to see so many people taking part in the Menopause thread - it is clear that there are many issues that we share as a group and others that are specific to smaller subsets of…

Well the old woman in the group has managed to make it to the end of week3- so did day three today and it wasn't really that bad and I still had some energy at the end of it. I have had a sneak peak at week four and it looks challenging as they really up the proportion of running to walking and there are two five minute…

Managed w3d2 yesterday without a hiccup although messed it up initially by accidentally starting w6d2????? I realised when I just kept running and running on the first running sector that I had run for at least 3 minutes probably more that I had managed to start the wrong week. I then reset it started at the right place…

Inkdgirl- I am sorry to hear that your knee has given you a hard time in week four and hopeful that rest will do the trick for it and you will be able to get back to it before long. My right knee is occasionally a bit iffy and I have been nursing it along carefully. I managed to do d1w3 today and am pleased to say it was…

Well done to everyone for your progress- I start on week 3 tomorrow. Debbie

Week 2 day 3 completed - although for some reason what came easily for day2 was a real struggle today- I felt like I had lead weights in my legs an right from early - I could feel the lactic acid build up in both my calf muscles. Good thing is that I did it and then walked at a good pace for another half hour. Two days…

Week 2 day 2 just done and dusted and must say it was the best session so far- feel like I am getting into a rhythm. Still tired at the end - but just fine after a few minutes. First use of my new heart rate monitor- and have to say I was a bit disappointed in that it indicated that I had used only 162 calories rather than…

I managed w2d1 yesterday to my great surprise as i was very worried about 90seconds of continuous running. It was actually better than I expected- and after the time was up, had a short break and continued walking for a further 45 minutes comfortably.Perhaps an old dog can learn new tricks! Debbie

Well done - that is incredibly good in just 6 weeks - and surely must go far in wiping away some of your embarrassment. Now that you know what you need to do you just have to plod it out. Work some of the foods you are craving into your allowance as it is not good to be constantly craving something that is not achievable.…

Well done everyone who has managed to finish all three days this week- YAY!!!!

Week 1 day 3 completed and maybe a bit easier today - I am still breathing and haven't had a heart attack as yet - so that has to be a positive. Apprehensive about next week- but still there and still determined. I still have not come to terms that at 55 I am trying out at running! Debbie

Week 1 day 2 completed - and ough I have to say my legs were screaming at me initially - especially my knees. Once I settled in it was better and even though I limped (not literally) over the line - I actually think I felt better in the last few cycles than I did yesterday. I am definitely not saying it was easy- I am 55…

I have IBD - as in Crohn's disease and know the difficulties of finding what irritates you as an individual. The best thing is to keep a food diary - with space for body and physical reactions. I am on a committee for an onlne support group for people with IBD and without doubt we all have separate triggers to cause us…

You can download the app onto your iphone and also hear that there are android apps available as well. It just makes it easy as the program cuts through your music and tells you when to walk and run and it also gives you distances and times if you have downloaded the gps component of the program. Just wondering how you go about starting a new sub forum? Good luck people who are giving it a go today:)

I'm in as well - and because it is already late Tuesday here in Aus I finished my first day today and survived it. I am 55 so as this is my first ever try at running since I left school in the seventies - I am pretty proud of myself:) Love the way the app directs you so well and if you pay a tiny bit extra it measures your…

oops - sorry to repeat what welshgirl was saying we must have typed them and only posted seconds apart. Perhaps it accentuates the message as you won't have a running buddy for maybe 18 months or more. Have you considered a mature dog from a shelter?
