Well this (no longer?) bear welcomes you
-
Hmm Indeed. Dead bears are less hot...

Bears are fine. I was (gulp) a bear. But a prediabetic bear is less than hot :( So... maybe I'll be a bear trapped in a thin otter body? As to Lady Bears? Hmm.. I guess so. My Granny had facial hair too. Must be genetic *wry smile*

Feel free to add me too. Half way though. Let's motivate each other

A wet otter? Now that sounds good...

So boys (and girls) I thought it was time for an update. I had gotten to the point of being so ashamed of how I looked, that I would only even use a black and white photo Well here is an interim shot in colour; some 3 stone lighter (42lb) - another 2 stone to go

Good luck! It is possible to turn things around, very, very quickly. In two months I normalised my blood pressure, normalised my cholesterol, and ceased being pre-diabetic (and dropped 20lbs)... I'm still on the journey, and I am half way there, but you can do it; and you are likely to start to feel the benefits very soon.…

A shaved otter? Interesting concept. I like my stubble. I like my chest/tummy hair. Over two stone lost, I even start to really like how I look generally. I haven't been able to say that for a very long time. SH

Visit your doctor. I did, and I wasn't as heavy as you. Even though I was (and am) aiming for 2lb a week, I shed 12lbs (7 then 5) in the first two weeks. When we are big, we often hold on to a lot of water, and also we lose our glycogen stores which are heavy. It wouldn't surprise me if you saw an even bigger drop…

I had a civil partnership (a civil gay "marriage" before the Govt would allow the term) six years ago. Now gay marriage is legal, I will "upgrade" as soon as it the mechanism is decided upon.

First pick your otter...

Which would you like, Jon?

I was warned that with my family history, that I was looking at being diabetic in 15 years if I didn't lose weight (and I wasn't even mega obese). At the age of 37 that was frightening: In just over two months I have gone from pre-diabetic state to normal, very high blood pressure to safely normal, and dropped 4 BMI…

Nice otter!

An otter, huh? *wry smile*

London here :)

Hello from the UK too. A lot going on in your head; understandably - maybe visit your GP and see if they can offer some support? Also, please lose weight for you, not for your partner. If it's not for you, you'll end up resenting him even more, and there will be a circle of arguments. As a man, I can say men can be cruel…

Like you, I was uttra sedentary. Now I walk everywhere. I mean walk everywhere - I don't take the car, I don't take buses. I use my two feet. If I have no where to go at weekends, then I create an excuse to go out and walk to it; the journey their part of the experience. If you have an iPhone the pedometer that is built in…

London - feel free to add me

One of the things I do for a living is teach cooking on a budget. 1) Processed foods always, always cost more. There is no "added value" in basic items, the big food manufacturers make their profits by adding water/sugar/fillers and charging much more. Make your own sauces, and suppers 2) No it doesn't need to take a lot…

I like salad, but who wants to eat it all the time?! In fact I think we are setting ourselves up for a fall if we radically change our diets to new foods we don't really like, only to then change them back when we hit our goals. My current diet regime includes double (heavy cream), stilton, a glass of whisky, pork, fish,…

Always happy to be added. I am looking to lose 60lbs... I work in food, and cook from scratch daily... I just eat far, far too much of it. Portion size, portion size, and MFP is great at really highlighting what you're eating. It's great to have MFP friends as there is no hiding - just log every snack, no hiding, and…

Hey! I'm English too, so talk about losing four stone, not sixty four pounds. I log on every day, and will cheer you on SH

Hi Rich, Another guy here - looking to lose almost 60lbs, but going well after just a week. Feel free to add me (or anyone else who wants to add) Shane

London here too! Feel free to add

Feel free to add me too. I'm someone who cooks from scratch daily... I just eat too big of portions!
-
Hey! I'm new too! Add me if you'd like to - we can support each other? Shane

From the UK too. I'm trying to be active, so it keeps me on track. Feel free to add me

But you have taken the right step to lose it again.. praise for that rather than beating yourself for the past? Feel free to add me SH
