  • If you're just starting to lift, you probably don't even need creatine. Just enjoy the newbie gains while they last.
  • Oh for heaven's sake stop with the broscience. Studies have shown time and time again that weight loss and weight gain is all calories in vs. calories out. Yes carbohydrates, protein, and fat play different roles in the body and properly manipulating them can change your overall body composition. BUT it is completely…
  • I think everyone's mad not because she has these feelings, but at the way she expressed them. It's perfectly acceptable for her to be bothered by her husband's weight, and for her to seek guidance and support. But what's not acceptable is to do so in a way that disrespects and insults her husband. Saying "he looks soooooo…
  • I actually make protein "Zoats" (aka oats with shredded zucchini and protein powder). It sounds really weird but the zucchini makes the oatmeal so much more voluminous, so it ends up being a giant bowl of oatmeal. I switch up protein powder and the mix ins, but this was my most recent one.
  • Ignoring your husband's health for a moment, what exactly do you mean you fast 3 times a week to keep your weight down? This sounds relatively unhealthy and certainly unsustainable. I suggest before you try and fix your husband you get your own diet routine in check.
  • @mollieb76 I totally understand wanting to drop some weight before a vacation, but at the end of the day vacations are supposed to be for fun and relaxation. As someone who has let an eating disorder ruin many vacations and celebrations, the best advice I can say is enjoy your time there and don't worry so much about how…
  • Hardcore dieting before a vacation is a recipe for disaster. If you've been over restricting pre vacation you are more than likely to overindulge and gain back all the weight you lost and even more.
  • I use C4 as well, I find it definitely gives me the energy to get through my 2 hour workouts. That being said, since I'm personally pretty tiny I use it as both a preworkout and an intraworkout. If I down it too quickly or on an empty stomach the beta alanine makes my face tingly.
  • Lifting weights does wonders for the body, but you really can't increase breast size. In fact for most lifters our chest size goes down due to loss of body fat. The struggle is real.
  • Coming from the opposite spectrum, I can say that yes genetics certainly plays a role in body composition and body weight. But that shouldn't deter you from challenging yourself. Growing up my siblings and I were all borderline underweight, despite having the worst diets ever. Even at my highest weight, I was still 20 lbs…
  • Sorry, I hope my comment didn't come off as rude. If you really feel as if you're too sore to workout out, then don't. But I do think walking around a bit might help alleviate the soreness. But again listen to your body and good luck.
  • Yes. To be honest, 30 minutes of power walking isn't even close to pushing too hard. Besides working out will probably even relieve some of that muscle soreness.
  • Helps with what exactly? If it's with losing weight, it's really not going to do much.
  • Why are you asking for our opinion on this when there are countless threads about the dangers of "Green Smoothie Cleanses"? In your bio you say "My goal now is to make a sustainable lifestyle change". Clearly never eating solid food is not sustainable or all that beneficial. Stop looking for a quick fix and just put in the…
  • There are three possible reasons 1) You're underestimating your daily calorie intake 2) You're overestimating your daily caloric burn 3) You're doing both 1 & 2
  • While weight lifting is awesome, you won't really see a big difference unless your diet is in check. I noticed in your open diary that you generically log everything. I suggest getting a food scale, also when you add lifting into your routine you might want to consider upping the calorie intake a bit.
  • Try riced cauliflower. I personally do half rice and half cauliflower. That way you get the texture from the rice, but the volume from the cauliflower.
  • What people on here fail to understand is that most of your calorie intake doesn't actually go towards physical activity. Seriously. Most of it goes towards running your brain or your heart or other important internal organs needed to survive. In all honesty it doesn't matter if you don't feel deprived or weak eating a low…
  • There's this awesome guy on youtube (Brian Turner) who's a vegan bodybuilder. He's got a lot of great meal ideas on his channel along with full days of eating if you're interested
  • Just one tablespoon of coconut oil is 120kcal. You're better off using those calories for a small snack instead.
  • Personally I just weight myself every day and use the average for the week. I find that to be a better indication of my weight loss and weight gain, because it takes away from some of the day to day fluctuations.
  • No problem, if you really are being consistent with your exercise and your calorie intake, I suspect it's the hormonal imbalance that's the cause of the problem. Try looking up some threads here on PCOS, like I said I don't have it so they probably have better information on it. And like everyone else here says, don't…
  • I noticed on your profile it says you have PCOS, which could be one reason you're not losing weight. I personally don't have it, but I know the unbalanced hormone levels can cause insulin resistance. As much as I hate when people suggest this, but you might benefit from a low carb diet.
  • Greek Yogurt Cookie Dough. 1 cup plain non fat greek yogurt, 2 tbsp of powdered peanut butter, 1 tbsp of stevia sweetened chocolate chips, 2tbs of coconut flour, stevia, and butter extract.
  • Completely normal when you first start working out. When you strength train, you put stress on your muscles creating tiny tears. To repair itself, the muscle will take in extra fluid (which is why muscles look fuller and more 'pumped' when they have been worked). So if you haven't been overestimating your workout calories,…
  • To be honest, I really don't think you should be counting this walking as exercise. Although you are on your feet from 11-9, unless you are truly moving nonstop, you're probably not burning much. On top of that my fitnesspal tends to overestimate calories. I think people tend to overcomplicate everything. The best diet to…
  • Here's a good article on it http://www.muscleforlife.com/the-truth-about-protein-absorption-how-often-you-should-eat-protein-to-build-muscle/ I mean this information is interesting to know, but the rate your body digests protein really isn't going to affect your progress in the long run. If you like to eat lots of protein…
  • If you're using the banana to thicken the smoothie, I'd use xanthan gum instead. It's a thickening agent high in fiber that's negligible calories and just a small teaspoon of it makes a smoothie super thick and fluffy. If you add the banana for creaminess I'd sub almond milk for greek yogurt.
  • Haha yes. I hate when people are like you have such nice tone, the word is muscle. I believe you meant I have nice muscle.
  • I personally don't think you should go to failure since there's a higher chance to injure yourself. Let's face it everyone's form gets a little bit sloppy when they're fatiguing. As long as you're lifting consistently and your lifts are steadily going up there's no reason to put your body through unneeded stress.
