What are those home kits called? any links? I'm interested. Ty in advance:)

You want dextrose, fast acting sugar that goes to skeletal muscle ca 15 mins before high intensity. BUT, make sure you're really working out at a high enough intensity that you're actually burning off those carbs, or they defeat their purpose. For further info search r/ketogains. I also recommend experimenting a bit.…

From my understanding, some cancer types are so devious they not only feed on glucose, but can also shift their metabolism to feed off of glutamine and lactic acid (?). Which could possibly be why keto alone is not enough vs very resistant cancer cells. A caloric restriction is needed on top of Keto for those instances.…

Congratulations on reaping in on all the hard work you've invested in your health this year. You've certainly earned it having the courage diving into experimental protocols like the Blood Sugar Diet. If it is of interest to you, the new channel by Dom D'Agostino Epigenix Foundation has lectures with all the latest within…

No cells can use fructose as energy (like alcohol ethanol) So depending on sucrose content, using fruits as preworkout is mainly a placebo effect. Only the liver can handle fructose...by converting it to glycogen or fat. If you want a banana, have it, but try make conscious choices. I agree with Stephie that a frozen…

I'm a Big Eater and can easily pack down thousands of LCHF calories within 6-8 hrs. I'm someone who the more I eat over several days, the more I can and wanna eat :( I need rules. Currently I'm trying OMAD (One Meal A Day) with success. If I take a snack or small meal outside of the rules once in a while, I don't stress…

@kmn118. Maybe for you. I don't have any guilt about eating carbs. I'm at the higher end of lowcarb anyway. I only take notice of effects of patterns. So I'd like to imagine my observings as "neutral".

Yes. For ME carbs aren't created equal. I don't restrict any vegs. I love vegs and my body loves vegs too. The trouble starts when I eat too much GRAINS and SUGAR...too often. It's a question of volume and frequency. Once in a while is OK, but if I pile on the pasta for dinner every day my mind gets frazzled and fragile,…

If you're losing "tons of inches and down 2 sizes" you're in effect doing a recomp. Which is kinda like the holy grail in fitness. I'd try a calorie cycling approach before carb cycling. -300 to -500 kcal on rest days and + same amount on training days. Try it 3 weeks, reassess results? Remember that the the scale is…

You have the right kind of stubbornness :) Congrats on your incredible health turnaround that you have shared with us throughout your journey!

IMO, symptoms like feeling less hunger, forgetting to eat, feeling more energy and drive to do things is a better measure of keto adaptation. Oh, and mental clarity! Too much simple starches make me feel lethargic, depressed and have lots of vague pains and feverish. YMMV. To answer your question about weight loss and…

MY WHOOSH INDUCING RECIPE: (when everything else fails to move the scales) Yup, have tried carb cycling with success, replicating a whoosh every time. BUT there's two big caveats to my protocol. So it would maybe not be practical for others. 1. Only refeed when training hard to minimize glucose spike: I used to do a…

It's made for TV as entertainment and as such has very little to do with dieting IRL, IMO.

Congrats! what a great milestone and turning the diabetes around too :)

Beautiful drawing ! Glad for your success :)

@nvmomketo ty for the share!

OP, if you have high BG, exercise can be used as a tool to lower it. The body works on demand and supply. It won't need to make more glucose (from burning stored fat or glycogen) when it already has easy accessible glucose as energy! This is part of the reason why exercise makes the tissues spent more insulin sensitive!…

Yup, being keto adapted is a truly wonderful thing. I chose when to eat. My body is no longer a tamagochi I have to feed every 4 hours. Enjoy the new feeling of boundless energy! Just be mindful of not training too hard :) It's easy to forget to stop just because it feels so great to be able to keep pushing.

It looks like CAC is more precise measurement for all cause mortality than Risk Factor. http://www.thefatemperor.com/blog/2016/8/10/repeat-after-me-calcification-score-blows-away-risk-factors-always If you ever worried about cholesterol and heart disease, check out this lecture by Ivor Cummins: Cholesterol Conundrum…

Diarrhea is a sign of the body literally dumping excess substances. Overdoing MCT is a classic invitation for disaster pants in LC communities. Same with too much salt or magnesium etc....When in excess of some things like salt, fat, some minerals the body gets rid of [insert substance] the fastest way possible. For those…

I stopped weighing and logging July 2015, so I guess I have an anniversary. I went down to lowest weight and size in Oct, but regained some after starting dating and less fasting hours due to work. Now that I'm back on track with fasting, often doing OMAD (OneMealADay ) I'm slowly losing weight again, despite not counting…

Fiber attracts water. With higher fiber intake you HAVE TO increase water considerably. Or guess what...you get constipated.

Ty OP for the good share. It mirrors my own experiences too. She correctly states that one can be in ketosis and not lose from stored fat, cause it depends on "calories OUT"-equation. That one can be in ketosis and not be keto adapted. And that one can be keto adapted despite short term deviations from a keto plan. It's…

The more physically active you are...the faster the body uses excess sugar. But only intense activity dips into muscle glycogen. Even when keto adapted...the body never forgets spending glucose as primary fuel. So if you're a very sedentary person or get injuries that change activity level...I'd lower carb intake. To OP,…

Fasting is the fastest way to elevate ketones and thus get back into ketosis. This is a biochemical fact. HOWEVER, I agree with @Kirkor that programming the brain into thinking of fasting as a punishment won't help heal your relationship with food. Fasting is a tool, just like keto. BUT...you said you "still only consumed…

Ok that's good to know :) I hear your grief about not being able to run. I've had injury myself that has set me back a great deal. 2x physiotherapy/wk has helped but it IS frustrating that recovery can be so slow. At least now I can take off sweater without crouching (frozen shoulder). Health is underrated. Sounds like you…
-
@Phrick. I don't know the extent of your injury...but are you sure it's a good idea stressing over "training for the race" when you have an injury? If I were you, I'd consider what protocols (training and diet) are best suited to recover as priority #1 rather than put added mental strain of a race in mind. Re keto…

IF = Freedom from feeding. OP, I have similar experiences as you. On HC macros the glucose rollercoaster made me sooo hangry. I really enjoy that I often forget about eating nowadays. Plus the added benefit of catecholamines mobilizing energy from STORED fat is what I want anyway. It's really weird how NOT eating reduces…

Pure olive or coconut oil ;) Just kidding ;) not. I actually have a small, 25 ml, makeup jar with CO in my purse or a bag of pork rinds for emergencies. I seldom have to use it since I do IF. Low maintenance and no fuzz. Sorry it wasn't the recipe you asked for.
