For some the 5:2 is a way to keep a very low-fi diet plan, losing weight slowly and not think too much about calories on non-FD. For others it's a way to be able to get away from dreary low deficit every day. For someone else it might be to be able to lose weight at all (was me). Many find that not tracking on non-FD eats…

0,4 lbs drop in scale weight could be anything. Including just a bit more dehydrated, TOM bloat on decline or any other detail. It's very often that people "stall" when they start exercising, even if it's not very intense, because the body is not used to that exercise. As soon as the body adapts to said protocol, it…

The body perceives alcohol as a toxin, so it gets first priority handled by liver. Meaning it probably slows down fat burning. I don't know if ketone production halts too. If you can lose weight drinking every day, then you're lucky. For many it would stall or slow. It literally steals hours from fat burning, depending on…

Not a pescetarian, but my diet naturally gravitate towards seafood often. Shrimps and shellfish? A bowl of steamed mussels in parsley, garlic and white wine italian style is yum! I prefer real food, but I have some pea protein on the waiting list of experiments. Try look up keto friendly plant proteins like hemp hearts ?

My mum too! She says "I'm too old to change". Which is not true, cause she has changed some significant things past years. It does not matter what I tell her, it's like she feels hopeless or something. Cause she rather prefers to slowly not being able to live on her own due to sarcopenia and emerging dementia, than to try…

Ty for all the input. I learn new stuff every day! The experience being dissed, made me realize that if it wasn't for the internet and having the opportunity to meet other souls with many of the same problems here and other boards, I woulda felt very alone. I only know one guy who's lowcarber IRL, but he's like semi-pro…

When I was on high carb macros, I got edema from time to time. Sometimes so severely and painful that I couldn't walk (put weight on feet) and hobbled around for up to a week. It has not returned after going lowcarb.

You're so much smaller! ...but, but...can you explain what color is what ? I'm having difficulty interpreting.

I'm not gonna meddle in the health discussion above. IMO, it's too narrow to look at only ONE variable concerning antibiotic use in meat industry. Look at the bigger picture. These are my thoughts: Kill off completely. When going on antibiotics, we're told to complete the cycle, because when the bacteria survives the cure,…

Yes and no, lol. I haven't wholeheartedly tried to shed since before xmas 2014. But I listen to body and naturally go through high and low days. Some days 1000 kcal net feels more than enough. Other days 2500 kcal net and I still want more... Hunger is an elusive feeling to dissect :s

If you need acid, could vinegar be of help ? I try make french vinegraitte with olive oil. My dad used that almost every day, so I prefer it. After reading dr. Fung, my vinegar consumption has gone up as well.

Omg, ouch! Sounds very painful. Did they say anything about recurrence or preventative measures at the hospital? You're such a trooper, I bet you're gonna research this more thoroughly than most doctors. Which gut bacteria is needed for handling the calcium-oxolate ? Gotta tell ya, I have newfound respect for the field of…

Did 30 mins strength class this morning + 90 mins Ashtanga-ish yoga (very bodyweight focused type). So I consider my quota filled for this week. Up to 20 secs hanging from the pullupbar, but still very painful. Not quite sure what I need to do to heal the arm :( August avg. daily steps so far is 10 654 :)

I posted and linked to dr layman's interesting lecture about protein synthesis and the 30g minimum last fall here in this group. I do not agree with him about «throughout the day» intake for gen pop. Maybe if you're bulking madly, yes, but not for cutting. A frequent intake will put body in fed state like snacks. I did…

Congrats! PRs are sweeter than candy! Love your tank top too, lookin' good :)

It might be just a sync'ing problem ? :) Try close the app. Clean out the cache and RAM. Re-open MFP. I like the app called Android Assistant, cause it's a multi-tool.

Great share and good overview! TL;DR Exercise speeds up the mitochondria's ability to burn fat and make more fatty acids "seen" by muscle to utilize. TL;DR You don't need to exercise to lose fat, but it will enhance the process. Obese people probably have much less ATP producing mitochondria than trained individuals = burn…

Switch things up. Try different tools or tweak old methods.Try different foodtypes than usual. Check your micronutrients. Improve sleep, stress less. And ofc calories count. Sorry for being Captain Obvious: If you want something to change. You gotta change some things. Good luck :)

More ELECTROLYTES! salt, salt, salt. Easiest troubleshoot. If that doesn't work, maybe your deficit is too high. If so more fats. (but keep a deficit). You're an active person? Then salads probably aren't kicking you out of NK. I'd start weighing if you wanna know what you're actually eating, though ;)

Ty @KETOGENICGURL, again a good share from you :) Many people on keto report lowering FBG, getting off medication, in effect remission of T2. For some very hard cases, keto alone is not enough. When you think bout the mechanics of keto and fasting: They are both dietary interventions that push in the same direction, but…

BG naturally fluctuates. OP, don't read too much into it, unless you're doing and getting CONSISTENT numbers out of range that can't be explained by natural fluctuations. I think this is better to consult with medical advice, so you can get tailored response to your specific case, rather than ask the internet, though.

This happened to me too when dieting. But I think it was the contrast from doing lowcarb and semi fasting during the week, then having a carb up + refeed on cals on Saturday when training very hard. Thereby reducing the impact of carb up and ketosis. My guess is that by making a contrast, the body «relaxes» on the refeed.…

This week: I went for a TRX class yday and ran half the way to get to class in time! (waiting for the bus would make me too late). An annoying thing with group classes is that they often overdo the tempo component. I slow down the repetitions and rather go deep squat for fewer than very high tempo with half of ROM. I…

@inspirationstation. Not sure about this, but the BG will fluctuate a lot throughout the day. It's the body mobilizing energy/regulating BG level. If it's rising in morning it could be that it's rising because BG is naturally low during sleep? Or if you're diabetic these processes are already somewhat damaged, making…

If it's acute pain, take NSAIDs. If it's not, I wouldn't. NSAIDs only treat the symptom of pain, they don't remove the cause, leading to a false sense of recovery. My N=1. When I was hospitalized for autoimmune attack (bloodinflammation that started as a strep) I was treated with Prednisone. I believe it aggravated the…

Never formally diagnosed with IR, but had many of the symptoms of it. Yes, have been able to push back the symptoms of very bad glucose metabolism with a combo of IF, LCHF and exercise. I can now even have moderate intake carbs without ill effects, minus grains. Ketgenicgurl posted this article by Fung in another thread.…

Yes! Good share, ty. I really, really like the big point he's making that fat loss is an often multi-factorial process. Many, many choices taken on a daily bases, not just ONE thing that is a gamechanger. This is why I always recommend to experiment, tweak until you find what YOUR body responds to. Too often I see that…
