  • Try Nice First. If I had a super power, mine would be to make people Try Nice First. Need to print to the community printer when I'm in the middle of my print job? Try Nice First. Don't have a grown up tantrum and storm from the room, cuz if you'd just asked, I would have paused my job. Sometimes I gotta wonder what's…
  • Ha ha! I almost logged 'toe nail painting' under cardiovascular exercise the other day.
  • I'm actually having a very similar problem - I find the planks very hard on my shoulders. Not sure if maybe I'm just not ready. I may try using the dumbells to, to try and shift how the weight is distributed. Great question!
  • We used to buy Minute Maid Light ... it didn't have any artificial sweeteners in it, I'm pretty sure it was just watered down. Now we can't find it anymore. Like the other poster said, we buy Simply Orange, pour it in a pitcher and add some water (about 25%). Tastes pretty close to the MM Light. You can log it under…
  • Try to be especially aware of the PPD ... it can come and go and linger for much longer than 2 months. You're in a good place now, but if you find yourself slipping again, recognize it as PPD (if it is), and FORGIVE yourself (muy importanto!). If you have a 'down' day, or week, use that time to maintain. Make your goals…
  • Ha! I've never heard this before. I don't have any advice for you, but I find myself doing this, too, and often quite unconsciously. Just the other day I caught myself putting a small corner of pb & honey sandwich in my mouth and ran to the sink and spit it out. That one little bit could have easily been 40-50 calories…
  • Positive reward - whenever she makes a more healthful choice - reward her! But not with 'honey, I'm so proud of you' - too condescending. More like - when she cooks a healthy meal, well, maybe that's about the best meal you've ever eaten. What a great wife she is. Or if you go on a walk together - tell her how much you…
  • hmmmm ... that TOTALLY depends on the color of the flip flops. without that crucial piece of info though, I'm leaning toward awesome.
  • Amen. Oh lawdy, for all the times I let stupid, insensitive comments bring me to tears - shame on ME. NO ONE knows how hard it is to be a SAHM until they do it. It is friggin HARD. And there is plenty of time to work out. My girls are 5 and 7 and I feel like I can really just now start to focus on me. And you know what?…
  • When I put it into MFP, it came up at 271 calories for me. I also had a HRM monitor that was kind of crappy that gave all different readouts. I just got a Polar F7 (*love*) and it says 266. But I have to say - I give it my ALL. When I am doing cardio, my heart rate is at 90% or more. And when I'm doing the weights, my the…
  • Keep at it!!! Don't give up. I started out on Day 1 only able to do about 8 pushups - no joke. Day 14 for me, and I can now do all of the first 30 seconds, and about the first 10 seconds of the second. 14 days in ... and the only thing I can't do (yet) are the pushups!!!! You should have seen me th first day - imagine a…
  • My girls are 5 and 6, and I have been doing this with them for years: 30 minutes of dancing. The first 15 minutes is just warm up, light sweat dancing, the next 15 minutes I alternate 1 minute of all out high intensity hip hop with one minute of lighter intensity. Although a 3 year old is likely to lose interest halfway…
  • I don't have any pictures yet, but I have been doing it for 2 weeks, with one rest day each week. I have only lost 2 lbs, but I can REALLY see that I have lost weight - in my arms, in my tummy, in my face. I have already gone down a jean size. I can't wait to measure myself when I finish! Good luck!
  • I would generally agree with you .... except that some jobs fluctuate vastly in activity. My husband is the General Manager of a Movie Theatre, and he is at his desk Monday through Thursday. But in the summer and during the holidays, he could easily walk 10 miles on a Saturday afternoon/evening shift. So, for some people,…
  • I do some property photography, so I hear ya on this one. Sometimes I am trekking all over a 5 acre property to get the right shots. I haven't logged any of those, but I should. Also - the other day I spent 3 hours stripping wallpaper off my girls' bedroom walls. I logged it in as 1 hour of 'cleaning - light effort' -…
  • This has got to be a typo, right? 40% fat makes me want to run for the ice cream. I think you must mean 40% carbs, 30% protein, 30% fat?

  • I have the same issue, and I have been wondering the same thing. I go waaaaay over on sugar, but if I just stop and just subtract out the sugar from fruit, I am way under. o_O
  • I just went through this last week. I thought for sure I was getting sick. Then I upped my calories by 300 a day, esp on the days I do circuit training, and I feel so much better. Oh, and I'm still losing weight - about 1.5 lbs/week - even at 300 more calories a day.
  • I don't know if you are depressed or not - it wouldn't hurt to see a doctor about the entire issue - but until you can get the appointment I have a little bit of advice. First of all, I've been where you are. When you don't even know how to make one small change, and you can't experience the feeling that comes with making…

  • The (extremely unscientific) results are in: I did it. I ate one of my daughter's extraordinarily decadent birthday cupcakes tonight. I estimate that lovely little cheat at approximately 300 calories. I was going to beat myself up about it a little .... or do 2 rounds of 30DS as pennance tomorrow .... but now I'm actually…
  • ooooooo, good analogy.
  • Also - for anyone who is worried they can't do something like the 30DS. Here's a quick outline of my first 9 days: Day 1 - OMFG. *Maybe* did 50% of each thing, felt like a loser and a joke. Felt great about 30 min afterward. Determined to continue. Day 2 - a little sore, not crazy sore. Was it just sweat or actual tears…
  • Hmmm ... starting fitness level .... somewhere between 3 Toed Sloth and Manatee, haha. I do use a HRM, but it's a pile of dookie. I'm getting a Polar F Something tomorrow. Maybe nckrystalblue is on to something. I would LOVE to eat more calories!
  • That's a really good plan. I'm not a big fan of salad dressing anyhow, so if I skip the bread, eat a salad and half of the lasagna, I think I will be ok. Thanks so much everyone for the help/tips.
  • Good grief. Time for a new plan.
  • Both good questions - the food did NOT have an asterisk next to it, so I thought that meant it was NOT user submitted. Am I wrong about this? And no - Carrabba's does not provide nutritional info.
  • I have been using the 30 day shred for 1 week now. It is super hard, esp for me because I am totally out of shape. AND I hate to exercise. But I really like this dvd. I could see it getting boring after a while, so I plan to get more dvds as I go along. So far though, this one is a thumbs up. I feel GREAT after I've done…
  • Ha! Thanks for all the suggestions - yeah, I guess next time I will try a) another brand and b) a flavored option. For me, I will file Plain Chobani under "No. Never. Not Ever Again."
  • Hi Lisa, First off, congratulations! After I had my second daughter, I lost 35 lbs with weight watchers. It was crazy how my body just CRAVED carbs and fats. The best advice I could give you is to know your hunger signals. What does it feel like to be hungry vs bored, what foods make you feel satisfied, what foods are…
  • Thanks for all of the support you guys! I kind of felt like a loser when I couldn't do all of the cardio - I mean, cmon, 2 minutes? But I am looking forward to the day when I can do it all. Will post an update here when I do.
