  • I agree, you should be fine. My first half only had 10 miles as my longest run and I did great. In fact, the race was easier than training runs (yay for adrenaline!)
  • Basically, FitBit is adjusting your daily calories, including your run, and the Garmin is calculating just run calories. So, your FitBit is likely subtracting calories because it thinks you weren't active enough the rest of the day (basically using some of your run calories to make up for less active times of the day). I…
  • My TomTom Runner had issues syncing to the app as well. Now I know you just have to hit the button to the left (on the Runner, it brings up the summary screen with the battery charge, storage capacity, etc.) and that starts the sync. Probably an undocumented "feature" LOL. I purchased the Garmin 235 at the beginning of the…
  • That's good to know. Knock offs always make me hesitant.
  • When I log something like that, it depends on effort. If it was a light effort, I use calisthenics - light effort. If it was a tough effort, I use circuit training. Neither are terribly accurate, and especially on the circuit training I reduce the MFP calorie burn.
  • I agree that you need to try again. When I started running I was a G cup and did just fine. I'm an E now and run around 15 miles a week and have no issues.
  • It also sounds like you need to improve your form. You're likely getting all your power from your calves and not using your glutes enough. I too am a calf runner and have to think hard about firing my glutes instead of relying on my calves.
  • I think we have the Revolution model too.
  • BOB. I had two of the lower priced ones (InStep I think?) and both were defective. The first the company replaced and the second, they said too bad (it wouldn't track straight so without a swivel wheel it was useless) so my credit card refunded me. The BOB, other than a flat tire when I got it (that they quickly replaced)…
  • Look for a watch with triathalon support. Garmin has some that can be used for swimming and as an activity tracker.
  • I've used the Polar H7 which is a chest strap HRM with bluetooth that will connect to your phone. It worked very well.
  • TomTom Spark Cardio stores up to 500 songs and has an optical HR monitor and GPS. I've never used it, but I used the TomTom Runner which was just the GPS watch. I really liked it. Their software is bare bones, but mostly worked (unlike the Garmin Connect I'm currently using - more features, but many are annoyingly…
  • Glad you found something you like. I'm very surprised about your comment though that the plantronics were stiff. Did you have the Fit model? Mine aren't stiff at all. They're basically like a rubber shoe lace.
  • Ditto....if you're "maintaining" that's a good sign. I gained 2 lbs. Overnight. Blah....it's gone now.
  • When I started, my resting HR was 84. After losing weight and taking up running, it's now in the mid to high 50's. I still have quite a bit of weight to lose, but have pretty low blood pressure. Around 100/60-70. I work out a lot, but am sedentary the rest of the time (desk job). I work out typically 5-6 days a week. 2…
  • While slowing down is probably fine, your actual max HR is probably quite a bit higher than the estimate. Mine certainly is. My max should be around 179, but my actual max is around 200. It's actually gone higher than that, in a high heat environment, but going over 200 made me feel bad. I frequently get spikes into the…
  • French Macarons aren't horrible. Usually less than 100 calories per cookie and delicious. And yes, cheesecake is one of the worst options (though totally worth it sometimes). Stay away from pound cake too.
  • As long as I have them hooked around my ears they were fine. I did see an online "hack" of sorts that someone fit their Yurbuds covers on them. I do love the Yurbuds covers.
  • Specific to your earbuds. Some have issues like this, especially if there is something physically in between them. My old earbuds (which I loved) had some early models that had issues when the phone was on the back of the body vs. the front of the body (mine didn't but their developers told me it was an issue initially for…
  • I just got the Plantronics Backbeat Fit. I'll use them for the first time tonight but I love the fit of them so far.
  • A lot of people that had issues (significantly more men than women in the threads I've been reading) have had much better luck wearing it on the underside of their wrist rather than the top. The theory is that arm hair is interfering. I haven't really had my watch slide around too much while running (it did while lifting…
  • There is a LOT of discussion on the Garmin forums about the optical HRM not being accurate, especially for intense and short interval work. However, I have one and have been using it for about a week and a half (daily) and have not had any issues with the optical HRM. I've never had unexpected spikes or dips. A lot of the…
  • It is not always true that weight loss helps symptoms. For most people it does, but not all. I am definitely in the camp that weight loss does not alleviate symptoms of PCOS. I have also never had luck with low carb dieting either. The single biggest thing that helped for me was exercise, in conjunction with Metformin.
  • That's a pay service? That's a bummer.
  • I'm connected via Bluetooth and I'm sure it's connected.
  • RunKeeper has years of run history and I'm a premium member so the reports are great. Garmin's app, so far, is fairly awful. I don't want it synced to MFP at all. Can you tell me where on the menu the sync option is? My watch doesn't appear to have it.
  • TRX is great - I use it with my trainer. Get the original though. Not exactly something you want to fail while using it.
  • I use this one. By far the best I've used. It's expensive, but goes a long way (one bottle lasts me nearly two summers - I only use it for running). http://www.sephora.com/wetforce-ultimate-sun-protection-lotion-broad-spectrum-spf-50-for-face-body-P393074?skuId=1684729
  • Try the Zombies, Run! app. It's a story of the zombie apocalypse. It's fun. You may get eaten when the zombie chase you, but the story will continue anyway.
