Anyone have a method for downloading raw MFP data?
There used to a be an Excel macro someone built to do this. I have that, and tried running it but it no longer pulled any data. The name of it is mfp2v6.xlsm Is there a newer version of this that works out there? Or does someone have another method to do this? I have about 6 years worth of MFP data, so doing by hand does…

Garmin 235 and Garmin Connect Issues
I haven't gotten any help on the Garmin forums so thought I'd try here: My RunKeeper says it's connected with Garmin, as does my Garmin Connect. But, it doesn't upload my runs to RunKeeper. Well, it did one, but it took 24 hours for it to work and it hasn't done the other run from this morning. I'm also having trouble…

Anyone have the TomTom Spark Cardio?
Anyone have the TomTom Spark Cardio? I got the Garmin 235 right after Christmas after using the TomTom Runner for a long time. I loved the Runner, but the current pace was absolutely horrible. I though the Garmin would be better and had a gift card so got the 235. It was OK - didn't love it, didn't hate it. But, it was a…

I thought women were supposed to have strong legs?
LOL...while on vacation with my family, we were at a science museum. They had a leg press machine. I like to think I'm in pretty good shape. I run and do strength training with a trainer. My knee was a bit wonky that day so I could only manage 170 on the leg press (kind of surprised me actually that it wasn't more).…

Do all runners lose toenails?
Just curious on this. I've never lost a toenail - not even close. I've been running for over 3 years, though the most mileage I get to is 20 to 25 miles at the peak of training for a half. Typically, it's more like 15 - 18 miles a week. I just read all the time about how bad runner's feet are supposed to look and mine are…

Anyone having issues with RunKeeper and Facebook?
Anyone using RunKeeper having trouble posting your runs to Facebook? Mine says it's connected but then says it can't post due to a communication issue. Annoying...I really did get my 8 mile run in today!

Anyone use a TomTom Runner?
I tried mine out today and it was fantastic! Except for one thing - the calorie burn. I don't have an HRM that links with it so it was just doing an estimate based on pace and maybe elevation? My height, weight, and age are all in it too. For my 5 mile run today on a mostly flat elevation at a pace of 11:40ish...it gave me…

Do you run with your dog?
I'm a runner. Currently training for a half, but normally, I run 3 to 5 miles at a time. We are getting a new puppy. The kids voted for a small dog so we're getting a mini schnauzer (we've had them before - love them!). Depending on the dog, he might be able to run with me (big might here, given the size). Does anyone run…

Anyone find the GPS on mapmyrun inaccurate?
It said I walked a mile during my 5 minute warm up. Anyone know of a more accurate running gps app? The odd thing is, I mapped it out via google maps on my ifit live account and it came up with the same total distance. I think the distance is off by as much as a mile! Has anyone else had that experience with Map My Run? I…

Running Shoe Issues
I've been searching for new running shoes lately and been having a heck of a time. I was fitted at one store in a neutral shoe, kept them for a short time and returned them because they didn't work well - had some foot pain. I then went to a local physical therapist for a running eval (I have some form issues including a…

What about 200 calories looks like
Took a photo of my dinner the other night and then realized the two plates contained nearly identical calories. The salad on the left (once I added low fat raspberry vinagrette) contained: 204 calories 15 g carbs 9 g fat 15 g protein 12 g sugar The parmesan orzo on the right contains: 202 calories 32 g carbs 4 g fat 10 g…

Running NSV
I have been on MFP for nearly 3 years now. The last year has been rough. I've mostly maintained (maybe gained a couple of pounds) while trying to lose the last 20ish pounds. But, I have lost inches over the last year and greatly improved my running! I completed my second half marathon this past Sunday. While I'm certainly…

If you keep your phone in your bra while working out
OK, certainly not definitive (and you could even argue complete hearsay based on sample size alone) but why risk it?? Makes me wonder if an arm band is any better... http://www.hindawi.com/crim/medicine/2013/354682/

Fun with numbers - calorie burn for running
Did a short, easy 3 mile treadmill run tonight and thought I would share my numbers for you fellow data geeks. I'm a 39 yr old female, 5'4", 160ish and 31% body fat. I ran 3 miles with a pace of 12:37 on my treadmill with an average HR of 151. My Nordictrack said I burned 398 calories MFP said I burned 365 calories…

Lower calorie Olive Garden meal
I went to Olive Garden with my daughter on Saturday and ordered their new garlic rosemary chicken. It comes with mashed potatoes and spinach and has 560 calories...it was DELICIOUS. Yum. Just thought I'd share!

What do you burn during the 30 Day Shred?
Just thought it might be fun to compare. I did Level 1 tonight (haven't done it in a LONG time because I lost my DVD) because I forgot my clothes for class. For my 27 minutes (including the cool down), my HRM said I burned 204 calories. I record only 90% of my calories to account for my BMR so I ate back about 184 calories…

NSVs and metabolic testing results
Two NSVs this week. The first is that I am the client of the month at my trainer's studio! They put a write up in their newsletter and on their blog: http://wildly-fit.com/fitness-success-meet-holly/ The second is my best 5K time to date. I was hoping to get under 30 minutes but it was wet and muddy so I didn't make it.…

For those asking how to run faster: just put in more miles!
I did my first 10K race almost a year ago. Since then, I have increased my mileage, completed a half marathon, reduced my mileage (due to work hours) and am just upping the mileage again. Today, I completed another 10K race. I improved my time by 8 minutes over the last year! I am very happy with that. Completed my 10K in…

Year over Year photos
I've only lost between 17 and 20 lbs. between these two photos. In the last year, I've completed a half marathon and taken up strength training. I am not sure of the exact BF% I've lost but plan to be tested again next month. I suspect the difference is a lot more than a mere 17 lbs loss would indicate.

Anyone have wireless earbuds for running they like?
Hubby wants some for Christmas. The Yurbuds version, on top of being REALLY expensive, get bad reviews. The pair he found was cheaper but also got bad reviews. Are there any blue tooth earbuds that work well and would work for running? These are the two we've looked at:…

Slow runners
LOL...every time I see a picture of me running, I look like I'm walking. Even when I had actually upped my speed running for the finish line. Pitiful really LOL. Just me? Or others laugh about this too?

Question for gastric sleeve patients
My father was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. They will be removing part of his esophagus and bringing his stomach up into his chest to connect everything. The results will be similar to a gastric sleeve. Just curious what your time frames from surgery to solid food looked like.

Motivation Monday...NSVs this weekend!
Motivation Monday...feel free to post yours as well! While cleaning out my closet today I found a pair of pants I kept as my before pants. These were from my highest weight which was about 100 lbs ago. Then I found the shirt I wore meeting my youngest son for the first time in Korea. I've kept it for sentimental…

NSV: Sleeveless in public
OK, I realize for most people, this wouldn't be a big deal. But, I've never worn anything sleeveless in public (and almost never at home either) except for when I had to be in something like a swimsuit. I, unfortunately, have a large amount of stretchmarks on my arms that make me uncomfortable. Now that I've lost a lot of…

Running Girls on the Run 5K with my daughter
The first 5K I ever did (and I ran most, but not all of it) was for Girls on the Run. My daughter wasn't participating at that point (too young) but after that race, I decided I would sign her up the next year. And I did. She's done two seasons of GOTR now and really likes it. Just thought I'd share a photo from that day…

2 Years on MFP, 81 lbs. Gone *Pictures*
Just a quick post on my 2 year MFP anniversary. I have followed the MFP guidelines for the last 2 years. I eat back ALL my exercise calories. I lost my first 30 lbs. just eating at a deficit. Then I started walking. In March of 2012, I started C25K. I have completed multiple 5Ks, a 10K, and a half marathon. I know work out…

NSV: My first half marathon! Pics Included
Yesterday I ran my first half marathon! I had a long post all written and when I went to post it, I lost my wifi connection so POOF it was gone. So I'm going to be lazy and give you the short version. I've been on MFP nearly 2 years. I started running 1 year ago with C25K. I am slow, but I was able to fairly easily finish…

3500 calories might only be a pound for women...
Just found this interesting in an article I was reading. Not saying it's fact or anything, just an interesting concept. "But, speaking in terms of evolution, Nature seems protective of women's role as child bearer, and wants women to maintain adequate body fat for nourishing healthy babies. Hence, women are more energy…

Inground pool opinions?
Two options: 18X36 Vinyl Lined pool WITH auto cover vs. 14X33 Fiberglass free form pool (WITHOUT auto cover). Cost is about $5K more for the fiberglass pool (and remember it doesn't include the auto cover - but we have concerns about the maintenance and repair cost of the covers). Thoughts? Everything else between the two…

Upping protein - sodium issues and no weight loss?
I'm trying to up my protein. I generally eat low protein which I know I need to improve. My trainer gave me a target to start with (which is still below where I should ultimately be) and I've been doing OK the last 2 weeks hitting that target. But, my sodium is over every day - usually by 200 to 500 grams. I've also seen…
