Did a short, easy 3 mile treadmill run tonight and thought I would share my numbers for you fellow data geeks.
I'm a 39 yr old female, 5'4", 160ish and 31% body fat.
I ran 3 miles with a pace of 12:37 on my treadmill with an average HR of 151.
My Nordictrack said I burned 398 calories
MFP said I burned 365 calories
Runkeeper said I burned 342 calories
The old rule of thumb for 100 calories per mile would estimate 300 calories
My Polar FT60(set for my max HR and estimated VO2 max) said I burned 281 calories
And finally, I recorded and ate back 253 calories - I subtract 10% from my HRM readings

Interesting! I usually just go with the average 100 calories/1 mile rule. My Fitbit works it out to be about the same give or take a few calories.0
