  • Well, another day in the challenge. I hope the above "like" wasn't for the comment that I would stop the daily update soon! Day 4 No late night eating yesterday! Yeah! No change on the scale either but .... Golf day today. Empty blue skies and just in a long sleeve golf shirt for some of the day on course. Beautiful. We…
  • hi @gaylebodine I hope you find a new place soon and your son gets through his rough patch. Believe me, I know what you mean about the election and I cannot vote in your election. But I wish it would be over soon. It has been a very difficult one to watch from over the border here. I don't want to get into politics here…
  • I am going to try that! ACV was the only vinegar in our house growing up and we had it on spinach and in a cabbage, apple salad that we had at least 3 times a week. I do like it in water but I don't have it every day.

  • Only Body Paint??? Oh my. And how to draw the line that a girl/woman should be able to wear or not wear anything, and be unmolested and not harassed when out in public. But that they really should be appropriately covered and behaved out in public. I do not envy parents trending the lines between those two statements. Both…
  • Day 2 Golfing today so exercise got done in a big way. Breakfast was lunch really and I had some back bacon and yogurt with fruit so I was good to go all day. Logged what I ate but ..... we got into snacks when we came home from golf and decided that we would "graze" for dinner. Trouble is I really only had one real meal…
  • Day 1 of the New Challenge done. Neither good nor bad. Every item on my food diary in the red except protein and that may have been the problem. Did fine all day. Dinner was late (like 9pm) because the roast beef was frozen. I was OK because of cheese and crackers that Peter served me with apologizes. But somehow the…
  • @KnitOrMiss . I knew about strokes in the wee small hours. I did not know it was linked to dehydration. Thanks for this. I don't drink much after tea time. So ..... changing habits, thank you. I cannot add anything to the sleep discussion. I was a good sleeper until menopause. And now, it is more about my restless, snoring…

  • Thanks! This is such a great explanation!
  • beautiful pumpkins and good information for all on our sticky.
  • Welcome @sgrubby. You can change your Settings in your diary to show Carbs and Fiber. Under the Food Diary tab, "settings".
  • Go for it, @Kitnthecat ! The cookies are beautiful. The dark chocolate cannot be that carb laden. She was obviously thinking of you with those ingredients. Enjoy with her. I love kids but I live on a drive to island at the end of a private non lit deadend road so there are never any visitors at all. All the houses but one…

  • Hi @gmabethof3, Good work on the moving the scales. I know it is just a little bit but it is the right direction and you are holding around there so your body is getting used to the new 'set point' or that is how I see it. I know my body is happy with my new 'set point'. Three weeks without scales and eating on and off…
  • I guess, no matter what pattern, the tastebuds and other drives, know sugar and fat and seek it out, once a taste is established.

  • It is only one day and if your body is still functioning, it will balance out. ;) Really. If you are hungry, eat. If not, don't.
  • I have read the Obesity Code recently. He is quite clear that if you are on diabetic medication, you should be under a doctor's supervision if doing long fasts. Other medications as well, I think, because dosage may be dependent on body weight. That being said, I know people on mfp do fasts for 48 hours regularly,…
  • Interesting. My mom did not allow sweets much or any Carbage at all, really. All 4 of us cannot NOT eat all of a treat. They were rare and we would not get more than one chance at it because there was never much and there were many of us. I often wondered if in household were more treats were allowed, the scarcity…
  • I love my veggies and when I went very low carb, I really had trouble. The opposite of others here. But greens, even when you eat alot of them, don't add up to much in the way of carbs. So I find, I have veggies with every meal and still stay in the 20-30 g carbs range without too much difficulty.
  • bump for those who are looking for ideas or are bored with their choices, Thanks to all for sharing.
  • We also find the dietdoctor site had a free week's plan which got us started. It was alot of cooking though it did work. We are now free wheeling it.
  • Welcome, @lamiller82 . Sorry to hear of your health trouble. And it is difficult to get excited about meals for one but on the other hand, it is easier to stick to a diet when there is just you and you don't have to cook more than one meal. There are a number of recipe sites that we use. ruled.me skinnytaste dietdoctor…

  • Yes for me too. I am not at maintenance yet but while on a long trip outside the country last year, my goal was to maintain during the 4 months. I was hungry if I ate more carbs. Less so on other things. My mother was tiny and maintained her appropriate 120 lbs all her life by allowing a 3 lb window. If she increased 3 lbs…
