dkcrooby I usually steam it (just in the microwave) with peas and green beans as a side. I've had it raw in bean salads and such but I enjoy it much more steamed with salt.

Gluten, nitrate and antioxidants are allergies. Salicylate is an intolerance, and I'm lactose sensitive. The gluten was a genetic screening and gastroscopy (ditto for lactose), nitrate was determined after I was given a small dose (after having avoided it for a very long time being a vegetarian for a considerable period of…

food allergies/intolerances are now most often treated with elimination diets and reintroductions to determine exactly what chemical you are allergic to, skin pricks are only useful for anaphylaxis type allergies. I've never even had one because they didn't think it would work on me and I'm 19!

Have you tried plain rice milk? It's fairly unpleasant but I don't think babies would know much different! Milk could be an issue because of lactose or milk protein allergy, soy allergy, gluten allergy (it's in most soy milks!, I never knew why it was making me so sick as I have no soy issue) and things like almond milk…

your nutritional needs are a lot higher during your period given what your body is actually doing! I get absolutely RAVENOUS for every kind of crap in the world, but find info like this really helpful so I know what I actually NEED to eat instead of what my brain is telling me I should eat to get those nutrients:…

The only thing that bothers me is that I have extensive food allergies so I always HAVE to read labels.. but I have a rule (based mostly on time saving and lack of commitment) that if an ingredients list is longer than four lines I'm not bothering with it, it's too likely it'll have an allergen in there somewhere and I"m…

Literally yes, i've heard so many girls shameful stories of actually losing control of their bowels because they don't understand what is actually in this 'tea' their drinking. Not only is it gross, it's overpriced and rather dangerous. Steer clear!

Sufficient fibre is probably a big issue, also your body might need more water than you think it does if you're exerting a lot of energy. I have bad bloating issues, and take psyllium husk, as well as drinking 2.5-3.5 litres (on days where I exercise) a day.. I'm hopeless without it.

This has literally NOTHING to do with recovering from an eating disorder.

You aren't eating enough to fit your macro or micro nutrient quotas, it's also impossible to tell what you're eating from vague descriptions like 'omelette' and 'home made curry'... these could either be very low cal or ladened with fat, depending on how they are made. Also you haven't listed ANY vegetables, with only one…

I was getting really good with it, but then developed a stomach ulcer :( I LOVE BUCKWHEAT! I use it as a porridge substitute, soak the grouts overnight, rinse, and then boil with milk and vanilla essence. You can blend it with cashews for a smoother consistency if you don't like the chewiness of the grain itself. For a…

Basically everything about modern life is making us fat. The 'convenience' revolution has made us lazy, taken us completely out of touch with our more basal needs. Food has not always been a daily indulgence available for a tiny price, it used to be just food that your body needed to run with occasional treats for social…

This is basically how I work, I only count simple things like that if I am eating a LOT of them, they are usually 10 calories or so a serving anyway so it's unlikely to make much of a difference, and they're SO nutritious that cutting back for the sake of 'saving' calories for more of whatever else I'm eating is a really…

Definitely, but it's very difficult to lose as fast as you would if you WERE burning extra calories on top of your BMR, while eating enough to live healthily.

Meal replacement shakes usually have more than enough protein, if you want to feel full for longer I would try adding a tablespoon of Psyllium husk (16 Cal) which is 16% of the RDI for fibre

It sounds a little like you're having an adverse reaction to what you're eating, so your body isn't absorbing it. Diarrhoea is ALWAYS a bad sign and not something to ignore. Go to a doctor and get a blood test to see what your vitamin levels are like. I know it's hard to want to stop something when you're losing weight but…

I'm 164-5 (been measured at both *shrug*) I've been in the 60's, and am now 55.. but I've got a medium sized frame so my weight is a lot higher than what I look like  Basically, I took a hard look at what I was eating. NOTICE what you are putting in your mouth (through logging it) and you come to realise how you've…

If you think you can handle it, try setting a dead line for eating to prevent you from mindlessly snacking. I set 8pm, finding myself for about a month just CONSTANTLY eating all night insatiably. I've always been a night snacker, mostly from boredom. I was very strict with it, which made social eating a little hard but in…

This is a fantastic lunch box option that lasts ages and freezes fine. It's my go-to! http://thebrownpaperbag.com.au/recipe/brown-rice-tofu-balls/

Good shoes are a necessary investment, a heart rate monitor (in my opinion) is a luxury item, people have gotten along just fine without them for a very long time! After all, a heart rate monitor is no good if you can no longer work out due to a sprained ankle, shin splints, tired knees or a dodgy back which are all likely…

136 @ 5'4 Doesn't seem much compared to most but I can assure you it looked a lot more on my frame!

Barre3 looks great, I've only had a look at their trial clips (about 3 minutes long) but they really utilise ballet principles, whilst others seem to be very loosely based on dancing, if at all. Simply standing next to, or touching, a barre does not make it ballet! Best of luck.
