My results for march following the "lower calorie, higher exercise" plan? I GAINED 1 pound, and lost 1 inch, overall. I lost 2 from my waist, and somehow gained one in my hips. I am attributing that to TOM showing up next week and a little bloating. Probably accounts for the pound gained too. So, in a nut shell, march was…

thank you all for your responses. :) today my husband and i celebrated the fact that i am now 'allowed' to eat whole eggs with omelets (with cheese, onion slivers, green peppers, garlic, and a little bit of maple sausage) and peanut butter toast for brunch after church. i was excited at the store. some things that ended up…

I have seen the "more than 1800 calories thread. I have read through it (I think I posted in it, because I thought I was doing good eating 1800 calories...) and wistfully dreamed of the day when I could eat 2000+ calories again... I'm going to try this "crazy" eat more, weigh less idea... add if it doesn't work, I will…

I am just having a really hard time wrapping my brain around the idea of eating more. I have gotten so used to going to bed with my stomach rumbling and not being satisfied with the tiny, bland breakfast waiting for me. I love egg whites. In salads. But I've been getting sick of 2 egg whites or plain oatmeal waiting for me…

Thank you for your response Kiki. I have a follow up question. If I use the moderate number of 2657 (I've currently got it set to 2356), that kind of makes my eyes bulge. After a year of mostly aiming for a goal of 1800 or less that just makes my conditioning scream YOU CAN'T EAT THAT, THAT'S WHY YOU'RE FAT! I am willing…

Hi everyone! My name is Mandy, and I've been a member of the "Eat less!" mindset for a very long time. I posted a thread here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/546871-dropping-the-eat-less-mentality explaining my current situation - it's kind of long, and nobody wanted to answer, but I wanted to provide as much info…

unsalted nuts are healthy fats and proteins. you can mix them into lots of things or eat them plain. shell fish too.

LOVE this. :)

pretty sure unless you are some kind of chemist or physicist and can change the properties of water you can't ruin the benefits of water with a packet of crystal light. i love crystal light (store brand cause i'm poor)... i have found that the 10 calorie bottle of water is a great way to help me when i'm having a sweet…

i have pictures of my face... but my cat needs to lose weight too, and i love the picture. so she gets to represent me in the internet for now. (p.s. she is currently sitting next to me letting me know it's time for food)

you have to look really hard for them. but they do exist. i swear.

i think you could post this on ANY THREAD ON THIS FORUM... try all of the "should i eat my exercise calories" threads.

for clarification, yes base 10. so everyone is not wrong. yay for being right!

i only lie on my log if i'm at a pot luck... and don't know exactly what to log. 3 diff types of brownies, had a small one of each... find random "brownie" add 1.5 servings.

my husband just looked at this and said "who jogs for 12.5 hours?" ... in my house, math happens.
-
no, not generally, though i might... were i not in such a giving mood right now. providing basic math tutoring to the masses for free.
-
the only thing times 0 in that expression is 5. the 9 - 5 has to be done later because of the order of operations.
-
i don't know if it's a consolation or if it's just more depressing... but there were more correct answers here than when i saw it posted on facebook. so either this bunch is smarter than the general public, or the youngins that seem to dominate facebook can't remember math they have probably done in school recently.
-
though i could be the cynic and say 'not necessarily honest, just confident based on erroneous explanations'
-
i even posted the answer and the explanation of the wrong answers on the first page. i guess i suck at explanations.
-
sigh. it doesn't become 9-8... you don't add 5+3 you have to add -5 + 3...
-
posted some explanations on the original post. thank you to everyone who answered 7, or at least didn't defend an incorrect answer with incorrect processes. :)
-
clearly not the order of operations...
-
3 would be fine, if the problem read (9-5+5) x 0 + 3 but order of operations means you have to do the problem 9 - 5 + (5 x 0) + 3
-
when you do the addition first at the 9-5+3 stage you have to remember that the (minus) goes with the 5... therefore 9 + (-5) + 3 (-5) + 3 = (-2) 9 + (-2) = 7
-
close, subtracting a negative is the same as adding a positive 1 - (-1) = 1 + 1
