PEMDAS is the order of operations. parentheses, exponents, multiplication, division, addition and subtraction. so, you do the multiplication first 5x0=0 that makes the problem 9-5+3. when you get to addition and subtraction you work the problem left to right, 9-5 = 4. then 4+3 = 7. IF you chose to do addition first, you…

donuts and pizza are the answer to many things, but not this ;)
-
i want to hug everyone answering 7...
-
if you are doing addition before subtraction at the 9-5+3 stage, you need to take into consideration that subtracting is just adding a negative. meaning the problem becomes 9 + (-5) + 3
-
the answers i've seen for this problem are: 0, 1, 3, 7, 9 and 12. i cringe.

do i count? i've already registered for the MMO firefly game being released in december. also, i married a man with an engineering degree and the majority of our "arguments" regularly contain the word "technically..." with an explanation.

i edited this a bit and made it today with a can of lemon pie filling (the regular stuff)... divided it into 2 pans so they were thin and baked it for 25 minutes let it cool and sprinkled each pan with 1/2 tbsp powdered sugar and cut each pan into 18 pieces (making 36 servings).. they taste a lot like lemon bars without…

i only have one at the moment... a wolf howling at the moon on my left calf. planning a dream catcher for my right calf (outside) with a bead band around my leg to feathers down the inside, and i want to get one that is a set of libra scales with the gemini twins sitting on it. i'm constantly looking at native american…

i'm awake and trying to figure out wtf this thing is my friend drew on drawsomething so we don't mess up our streak.

this. i have one and found the calories to be fairly close to various online calculators.
-
thanks lou ann! i have used that site before :) trin - i log everything, or estimate to the best of my ability. we go to a lot of potlucks around here. i mostly eat what i know is good, and limit the rest to a bite or two. church people get offended if you don't try their food! another reason why i use the range, those…
-
The range comes from what I think of as a "max" the 2000, to lose 1 pound per week, and the "minimum" of 1500 if I set it to lose 2 pounds per week. In order to keep myself sane and not stress over an exact number, I use the range, and leave it set to "1 pound per week" or 2000 calories.

are you complaining that we're complaining? would that put you in the complaining too much category?
-
making out burns more calories than sex? dancing burns more than both? that seems backwards.
-
yep. i agree. (not that it's TMI)

i will drag my husband to bed (or other flat surface) repeatedly until we conceive our first child.
-
i don't really stress about eating out. if i know we're going out i look up the restaurant's menu online like many have suggested and take my pick (not always the low calorie options either)... if it puts me over budget, i just add a little to my workout and go for it. i, personally, cannot say "THIS IS FORBIDDEN" or it's…

i will generally exercise if i can breathe without a problem. i've had a hard time this month due to all the pollen making my allergies act up. i don't like going to a public facility to work out if i'm coughing or sneezing. it just doesn't seem fair to the people that are there with me. wiping down a machine doesn't kill…

this is what i did, and it shipped free!

sounds good! thanks for posting!

i have no issues with women looking nice at the gym, i just know that will never be me. i sweat too much to wear anything but black teeshirts and shorts. definitely can't wear make up. and my hair frizzes up too much to wear it any other way than in a bun. but if you can look sexy and not sweat your makeup off or stain…

i get migraines quite frequently - thank you mom. i would get them 3x-4x per week, maybe once or twice a week the whole shebang with the nausea, vomiting, light sensitivity, sound sensitivity, shooting stars, feeling like my left eye was going to pop out, bad enough to make me stay in bed with a cold rag over my eyes until…

i tried this with kale and it felt like i was eating dried leaves off the ground and told my husband "i could have raked the back yard and got the same thing". does the spinach have a little more substance?
-
i still do this! light cream cheese and sugar free strawberry spread. usually on toast though. helps with a cheesecake craving!
-
i would put chips on my peanut butter and jelly sandwiches... and jelly on my scrambled eggs.

I would like to comment that I am saddened by all of the "religious people are stupid and intolerant" type comments. Isn't that a bit of pot calling the kettle black? That seems a bit stupid and intolerant to me. My husband, in training to be a Pastor, getting his Master's degree in divinity... has his bachelor's degree in…
-
I am in almost the exact opposite situation. My husband is religious to the point he's currently earning his master's degree to become an ordained minister (he is Lutheran). I grew up going to church, maybe once a year, if that... only if we were at my grandparents' house on a Christian holiday and we were forced to go. I…
