I threw my FitBit in the trash. I found it horribly inaccurate in measuring my activity. I blamed it on my hypotension, didn't think much of it, until a friend sent me this article, detailing how horribly inaccurate FitBit and other fitness trackers are in estimating calorie burn. So, maybe it wasn't just me.…

Oh, do I feel your pain! I'm hypothyroid with hypotension. If I sit typing at a desk too long, my hands become ice blocks, despite my always wearing a sweater. I actually bought a pair of fingerless gloves to use when I worked in an office. Can you get a small heater to put under your desk?

I really like the idea of bringing some fruit and playing the celiac card. One of my daughter's friends is a 9 yo celiac with Type 1 diabetes. She has to bring her own food almost everywhere, except at my house, since I'm always sure to plan for her. Very few of her friends' moms are as brave as I am, lol. Just be sure to…

Yeah. As someone who has tried every diet under the sun, let me tell you. What every, single one of them boils down to is manipulating your diet to cause a calorie deficit. The Keto diet? Doesn't work if there's no calorie deficit. Whole 30? Doesn't work if there's no calorie deficit. Paleo diet? Doesn't work if there's no…

My gym/sewing room is my dining room. Treadmill in one corner, exercise mat in one corner, sewing table in the third corner, and the ironing board in the fourth. (We use the breakfast nook for meals and clear out the DR only when we're having a large gathering.) I do body weight exercises on the mat. Going to a separate…

I have no experience with Keto, but I did Paleo for awhile. It's a bit different, but I think my experience as a carb lover who tried to eliminate carbs might qualify me to advise you on the subject. Giving up most of the carbs I loved was hard but do-able for awhile (around 6 months), but I couldn't do it as a lifestyle.…

Are you sure that you actually need to lose? I'm middle aged now, but I weighed 118# my senior year of high school at your height. I was very active back then (track, dance team), so I was pretty muscular, but 112# seems a pretty normal weight. Do you need to lose weight or do you need to work on your body composition,…

Have you looked at her avatar? She's not exactly elderly. JS.

Yeah, see a doctor. I was having similar episodes a few years ago, turned out to be a Vitamin C deficiency. Other vitamin deficiencies can cause those episodes, too. Or it could be allergies or a middle ear infection. Or hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).

I've had something similar the past few days, woke up this morning feeling great. I was all ready to get back into working out a little after dinner, like I usually do, but instead got overwhelmed with exhaustion and napped all afternoon. (Fortunately, I'm an at-home, homeschooling mom, and I'd already worked with my kids…

Bless your heart! Now I'm going to advise you to take it easy at first.

I say add a treat, if you've got the calories. Just watch yourself and make sure you truly have all the calories you think you have. I overestimated my maintenance calories and ended up putting on a little weight. Nothing too hard to lose, but you don't want to accidentally work against your goals. Maybe start with eating…

Are you going to be exercising, too? I've found that a little walking every day makes room for a few more calories, too. I'm short and not trying to lose, but my maintenance calories are pretty low (1440 calories a day). And that sucks, because I love to eat! I exercise, a little bit because I know it's healthy for me to…

That depends. If you're 1200 over your weekly calories for maintaining, that's about 1/3 of a pound. If you're 1200 over your recommended eating allowance, you probably just won't lose anything this week or you'll lose less than you'd hoped, depending on your calorie allowance and goals. Don't panic, just dust yourself off…

^ What jdwils14 said. I can walk for a half-hour on my treadmill at 4 mph/15% incline and burn about 400 calories, which is a slice of strawberry cheesecake. Trust me. I know these things. ;)

YOU'RE THE GUY! I downloaded this spreadsheet ages ago, and it has helped me so much! I have always wanted to thank you, but I couldn't remember your name. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS. You rock!

Let me tell you a story about two women I know. Jenn probably weighs close to 300#, but she's the most beautiful woman I know. She loves everyone she meets, volunteers at her church's food pantry on weekends and week nights, and she's funny as h***. She's one of my best friends. I went to high school with Robin. She was…

I think that you can lose weight and see how that affects you, but I don't think that will reduce you as much as you want. I do want to make you aware, though, that if you ever have the chance to get a reduction, it may affect your ability to breastfeed (if you're interested in doing that later on). One of my co-workers…

I was given a free one from my MIL when she upgraded hers. I tried to use it, but it wasn't very accurate for me. But I'm special, lol. I have very low blood pressure, related to my thyroid trouble. Those things aren't cheap, so maybe buy a used one on eBay (I just found a listing for 5 Fitbit Charges for $19, plus $2…

I don't worry about macros. It's good information to have if you're a bodybuilder or if you have a medical condition, but for most of us, just eat healthy meals, and you'll be okay. I've started tracking my sugars, because of a health condition, but that's all I care about and the only set of macros I'm keeping track of on…

I'm really happy for you that your neurosurgeon found what needs to be fixed! That is just awesome for you! For all y'all that don't know how to add friends, just click on the jacie1205 link just underneath her picture. That will take you to a page that displays just her user information, titled Message Boards. Click her…

Diet snake oil at its finest, sold in a classic pyramid scheme. Only buy this stuff if you're interested in having more expensive urine. Your body is very good at making ketones for fuel. Unless you are a keto-adapted athlete, you don't need exogenous ketones.

That's one way to do it, or you can just include having a beer or a glass of wine (or two) in your eating plan for the day. A single glass of chardonnay (5 ounces) is about 125 calories, so it's not a huge deal to fit in a glass or two. Another thing you might not be enthused about doing is walking off the damage, either…

I met my husband online, through a Christian dating site called Christian Cafe. It worked really well for us. He was the only guy I chose to meet the site (I can tell a few stories about guys I chose *not* to meet, but that's not important now), and we were both very up-front about who we were in our profiles. Just state…

I'm an at-home, homeschooling mom. I just get busy with stuff and I forget to eat constantly. Sounds great, but when I finally get hungry, it's not normal, have-a-turkey-sandwich-and-you're-okay hungry. Nooo, I get voracious. I can out-eat my 6'3", 225 lb. husband when I get that hungry. So, being able to go without food…

I feel ya! I've been back to trying to lose for about a month now, but the scale isn't cooperating, for some strange reason. But that's okay, I'll just keep going. At least I'm not getting heavier, right?

What she said.

I have a high school friend, and, over the years, I have watched him and his wife skip from a vegetarian to a keto diet to Whole 30, etc., etc. and listened to him brag about losing weight for a time, followed by a period of silence, followed by the joyful announcement of how great his new diet is working for him and his…

Indulge a little, but don't go over your maintenance calories. That way, you're not going backward, even if you're not going forward. It's only for a few days.

I've never taken it, but my sister did. She would brag to me about how great it was, etc., and told me when I was pregnant the first time that when I was ready to lose the baby weight, she'd hook me up with her doctor. I told her I didn't think I was interested, because I was planning to breastfeed, etc., but my sister did…
