For me, personally, I think MFP is easier. I just don't get the rules about what you keeping track of points. To me, it's just easier that I get a set amount of calories at the beginning of the day, and if I want more calories, I have to work out, lol.

I am absolutely NOT a morning person. If I exercise in any way before noon, I'm running, because someone is chasing me with a knife. I generally work out after 8:00 pm. My husband makes dinner at 6:00 (because he knows that, if it were left up to me, we'd end up eating around 9:00), so I give it about an hour and a half…

Just eat healthy foods, in healthy amounts. I already weighed 20 lbs. more than I should when I began both pregnancies, but I was determined to eat healthy foods for my babies. I ditched the junk food (for the most part; I had a few candy bars with my second daughter), and didn't stuff my face. I just made sure I was…

I've been trying to cut back my sugar recently, thinking it might help with a couple of health problems I'm dealing with. I do track it, and I've found that it's actually not as hard as you think. However, I'm not a big fan of fruit, so... If you have a sweet tooth (like me), sugar substitutes help. But xylitol is really…

I totally get you... At least, I think I can relate. I injured my knee in a car accident around 15 years ago, got fat as a result of not being able to walk for about 6 months, and exercise has been a bit of a roller coaster since. I'd go through periods where I could exercise all the time, I was eating right, and life was…

I don't generally care for aspertame, but I developed a taste for Diet Coke as a teenager. (It was the only soda my best friend's mom ever bought, and since I was at their house most afternoons after school, I drank a lot of it.) Xylitol and Maltitol give me horrible gas. I'm experimenting with stevia right now, to see if…

Absolutely not, unless I'm worried about his health. I'm worried about his health right now, and I've told him, but I will not bug him about it more than that. He says he's trying to lose, as am I, but neither of us is pushing the other, because we know that will just come off as nagging. My husband is the most gorgeous…

Hey! That's me! My kids are 13 and 11, and I homeschool them. Adding you.

I'm 46 years old, and, while I find it's much easier for me to gain weight than when I was in my 20s, probably because I'm not as active, it's actually easier for me to lose. After years of trendy diets that worked while I was able to stick with them and my subsequent return to old eating habits because none of them were…

Could you borrow the scale of a friend or relative?

I was concerned about throwing my schedule out of whack and was looking for advice from people who may have the same kind of eating schedule. But thanks.

I second this suggestion. When I started walking (knee injury, still can't jog or run), it was after six months of being in a hospital bed. I seriously got worn out just walking half a mile up the street to the drug store. But that was 15 years ago, and I'm now walking between 3 and 4 mph on a 15% incline for an hour at a…

I'm only down 11 lbs., but I have hypothyroid and low blood pressure, so I've pretty much been cold all my life, lol. I'm an at-home, homeschooling mom, so I sit here in my fuzzy pjs and warm socks with a heater going most of the day and a kitteh on my lap. I really thought that moving south would mean winters would be…

I like to munch on raw veggies at night. That way, even if I am only eating for the sake of eating, the calories are negligible.

It could be. I do a yoga-like exercise along with plain, old walking to keep myself fit. Yoga will tone your muscles, but I think that you might also want to add a bit of cardio to the plan. Since you can't afford a gym, is there a local park where you can walk or jog?

If this 'life coach' really cared about you, she'd be encouraging you to eat balanced, nutritious meals at a small calorie deficit (500-700 calories a day) and to take the weight off slowly. She would not be railing on you about your body fat percentage. Your body fat percentage actually is on the high end of the…

I agree with this advice. Try eating at maintenance for a week, then get back to your low calories. Honestly, you're so very close to your goal weight, things are probably going very slowly. I'm 5'1", and 127# would actually be my goal weight. Do you work out? If you don't, try some light cardio, lifting weights. Your…

Some really good ideas, here. Honestly, it doesn't matter when you eat, just how many calories you eat. If you find you're "snacky" (as hubs and I put it) at night, just plan for it. This is what I do, but what works for you will probably be quite different: I use Intermittent Fasting (eating only during a certain time…

This is what I wonder about, too. A friend and his wife are currently singing the praises of Keto. They have tried every trendy diet in the world to lose weight, and they always work for a few months, but none of these diets focus on teaching the dieter to eat in the real world. So, they always fall off the wagon in the…

Personally, I would only eat back half of what you burned, since there's no 100% accurate way to tell your exact calorie burn. For example, I burned an estimated 700 calories in my exercise yesterday, so I could have eaten back 350 calories of it if I'd gotten hungry. I didn't feel hungry, so I didn't eat any of that…

Same here, and I hate both, lol!

It's my second time around, too! I don't even have an excuse for gaining back every pound I lost, except that I sprained my knee and felt sorry for myself. I compensated for not being able to work out by eating junk food. Brilliant of me, huh? :D I know from much experience how hard it is to get into the dieting groove,…

I use the excuse that diabetes runs in my family, so I have to watch my sugar intake. I have no idea if that's true or not (it probably isn't), but neither do most people. They tend to leave me alone about eating donuts after that, though.
-
I use intermittent fasting to control my eating, because I honestly find it easier to control my calories that way. It's just easier for me to keep my intake down if I wait until 4:00 pm to start eating. Because I just can't stop myself from munching on things once I start. It takes a great deal of discipline at first.…

Yeah, get thee to a thrift shop. Another thing I've done is I have a sewing machine, so I just alter my clothes down or alter down clothes I find in the thrift shop. I saved a ton of money on jeans doing this.

I, too, am fond of hiking and not keeping track of where I'm going. I installed the Endomondo app to track my trail. It records my route, so when I look up and realize I don't know where I am, which happens a lot, I look at the map of my route and head back toward my starting point (my car). It's free to install and use,…

I used IF nearly every day when I first started to get my weight under control, and, honestly, having an eating schedule really worked for me. I tried to eat like a "normal" person (three meals a day) after I lost my weight the first time. I ended up grazing continuously through the day and gaining the weight back. So,…

It didn't measure accurately for me. It was underestimating my calorie usage by a huge amount (like saying I used less than 1,000 calories a day, even with working out, which I would guess is probably untrue for anyone), I think because I have problems with low blood pressure. But, I got it free from my MIL who loved hers…
