That's a really tough spot to be in. BUT, she's your fiancee, not just a girlfriend, so it's even more essential that you be honest with her. Tell her that you like what you're doing, and you are afraid that the Thrive might mess with it. I've read up on it, because my in-laws were stupid enough to buy the stuff, then gave…

I think it's a YMMV thing. For an obese person starting out, it may not be necessary. But for someone who's down to losing 10-20 pounds, it may make a significant difference. The tendency to underestimate calories is very human, because most everyone likes food and wants to eat as much of it as we can, lol. My husband was…

There is nothing good about working out in the morning. Well, for me, anyway. I want to sleep until the last possible minute. Working out in the afternoon is always good, though. For me. You do what makes you happy. If you can get up in the morning and do it, great. If you find that you can't, don't beat yourself up about…

What she said. My appetite was WAY out of control when I first started, and it still gets me sometimes, but it really does help to see what you're putting into your body. And, honestly, I wouldn't work out at all if it weren't for the fact that, some nights (like tonight), I work out just so I can have some chocolate chip…

If you're planning to breastfeed, that will help you in two ways. You'll burn more calories just producing milk and (though I sometimes failed at this part) you'll want to eat healthier, because your baby will be eating what you eat. You *can* diet while breastfeeding, but be careful not to cut calories too much, because…

Don't freak out. You know what to do, and you can figure out the details of how to best do it. Just eat less junk and exercise more. Do you currently work out or is that something you have to figure out? If you don't even know where to begin with that, just start walking/jogging, if that's something you can do. It's free…

THIS is exactly my problem with peanut butter. I cannot show enough restraint to not just eat spoonfuls of it. And there is just absolutely no time to weigh the stuff between bites! Honestly, though, if you can eat it without bingeing and fit it into your calories, go for it.

This told me all I ever needed to know about Thrive: http://www.lazymanandmoney.com/le-vel-thrive-scam/.

I bought one, but (for me), it was kind of a rip-off. I didn't enjoy the exercises, so I never used it. I prefer my treadmill for cardio and callanetics for resistance. I bought it, though, because I know many people who loved it and found it to be effective for them. So, I'd say it depends on the user.

MFP give you that "not eating enough" message anytime you don't consume at least 1000 calories. Don't worry about it if it's a once in awhile thing. It's not going to kill you to eat 998 calories once in awhile, as long as it's not an every day kind of thing. Trust me, your body will tell you when it needs more fuel. As…

I didn't trust my FitBit, either. It was wildly inaccurate as far as measuring calories I burned, always way too low for the activity I'd performed while wearing it. Fortunately for me, mine was a gift, so I didn't lose any money. Ditch the Fitbit, find a fitness calculator that seems reliable, and use an accurate calorie…

Maybe some folks are confusing adrenal insufficiency with adrenal fatigue? Also known as Addison's, adrenal insufficiency is caused by your adrenals not producing enough essential hormones like cortisol or aldosterone. I had incidents of dizziness upon standing, which along with my chronically low blood pressure, led my…

It's not cheating if you can fit the calories for that chocolate into your eating plan without going over your calorie goal.

Something appears wonky with your numbers to me. I converted your numbers to metric (Weight = 60.5 kg, Height = 165 cm, age 21) and used the Mifflin-St. Jeor formula for women (weight in kg x 10 + height in cm x 6.25 - 5 x age - 161) to calculate your BMR (basal metabolic rate). According to my calculations, your BMR is…

We need more info. Height, weight, goal? If you're lifting 4 days a week, you've got to keep in account that muscle is dense. Even though the scale isn't moving, are your clothes fitting differently (looser)?

If I were you, I'd see a doctor. I had a period where I gained no matter what I did or how healthy I ate, followed by a period where I just said, "Screw all this trying for nothing," and I packed on even MORE weight. It turned out to be my thyroid. Once I got that balanced, diet and exercise worked for me again.

I second this suggestion. Do something during the day that will burn a lot of calories, and if you end up going out for something really high calorie, its effect won't be as great.

How much protein are you eating? If you're not getting at least 30% of your nutrients from protein, that might be something to consider. Are you getting sufficient sleep? Are you drinking enough water? Also, and I'm only asking because you lift, do you really need to lose fat? Bodybuilders tend to weigh a lot but have very…

Unless a person is living in Burundi or is anorexic, I don't think starvation mode is going to be an issue.

I have my "breakfast" most days anywhere between noon and 4:00 pm, but I'm constantly drinking coffee. I homeschool my kids, so my mind is always distracted, and the coffee keeps my tummy feeling warm and full. You might want to see if warm coffee or tea would help you in a similar way. Also, what do your macros look like?…

I read and sip decaff coffee at night when I'm feeling munchy. If I was actually hungry, the coffee takes the edge off that, and if I was just bored (and I have a bad habit of eating when I'm bored), it takes care of that problem, too.

I've been known to binge on broccoli.

JMO, but I've seen a LOT of people get sucked in by the MLM scams and basically believe in something so much that they're willing to trash friendships or relationships with family over it. That doesn't make it right, but it does happen. I know that this is different, but I draw parallels between that and my brother's…

You might want to invest in a Soda Stream (around $70 for the starter kit). You can use them to add fizz to any kind of flavored water, and it's a great way to make your lemon water taste like a naughty soda. :) Oh, and unsweetened iced tea!

So, if I drink diet soda, I'll look younger? Awesome! I love Diet Coke!
-
JMO, but if you're not hungry, don't eat. I'm convinced that compulsive eating has become a thing, because people feel like they should eat certain amounts of food at certain times of the day.

I downloaded a calculator from another MFP user a long time ago that has helped me figure out about where I need to be to lose weight. Unfortunately, I can't remember exactly where I got it, so I can't give the person I got it from credit or tell you where to find it. BUT, it says that it's based on the Mifflin-St. Jeor…

It's the brand name of an artificial sweetener. I think it's aspartame.

Just my 2¢. Low carb diets really work, have worked for me in the past. However, at least for me, they're not sustainable. But they're like any other diet that eliminates a food group (low fat, gluten free, etc.). They take a lot of effort to become a WOL. And I'm weak. I like ramen noodles. I like cake. So, they don't…
