  • My trick is a serving of Quick Oats with 2 tbsp SF syrup. Very filling, and only 167 calories. It really helps me to feel full if I need it.
  • Does this link help, maybe? It has instructions for both the app and the PC. https://myfitnesspal.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/80938-how-do-i-add-a-food-to-my-food-diary-
  • Sounds like a programming bug. I'm guessing Fitbit or MFP changed something in how the two programs interface, causing an error. Report it to both, hopefully they'll get it sorted out soon!
  • You are officially my hero. I love Diet Coke. My BF in high school always had plenty of Diet Cokes at her place, and I was always over there, so I just grew to love the taste. The way I look at things is, if you're not drinking water or milk, whatever it is is probably bad for you. There's a certain beauty in your current…
  • JMO, but don't waste your money on the Thrive. Read Lazy Man and Money's take on it. He was sued by the manufacturers of Thrive and won. A multivitamin and a decent diet will do you as much good as Thrive, for much less money. https://www.lazymanandmoney.com/le-vel-thrive-scam/
  • It used to be of extreme importance to me, but other considerations have crowded it out. I've got a couple of health conditions (hypothyroid and possible gout) that I'm focused on dealing with ATM. I'm more concerned about my exercise and these other things. I still keep track of my eating and make sure I'm not eating too…
  • What are you doing to lose? Are you following the MFP recommendations for calories? If so, how are you measuring your intake? Are you using a food scale? Are you exercising? I'm just trying to figure out what your issues are and different things you could try.
  • I think the somatypes thing is kind of like astrological signs. Total hooey. We lose weight, because we use more calories than we consume. It's not rocket science, though some people act like it is.
  • I'm hypothyroid, and with the proper medication, losing weight is no different for me than for a "normal" person. I prefer to take dessicated thyroid. Armor is the name brand sold in the U.S.. but I buy my meds from overseas, long story involving my insurance company why, but it's cheaper that way. This site, Stop the…
  • Yeah, I'm thinking it was more talking about the bad taste a person sometimes get in their mouth while on this fabulous, fun weight loss journey. No fun at all, but I think that's what God made gum for, right?
  • I guess it depends on how you look at it. My husband is 6'3.5" and around 250#. I'm 5'2" and around 146# currently. His TDEE is around 1,900 calories, mine is around 1600. For him to cut 20% for weight loss would be cutting 380 calories, for me, it would be 320 calories, not that significant. If you want to look at it…
  • I'm hypothyroid, and I tried going GF for a time. It didn't really make me feel any better, as all the paleo folks promised, and I really like sandwiches, so when I discovered there was no benefit for me, I had me a ham sammich. YMMV, so give it a try and see if it does you any good. If it does, great. If not, well, you…
  • Go for a walk, the longer the better. If you walk at 7 kph for an hour, that's an extra 350 calories you can eat. (I figured this on my calculator for a treadmill with a level walking surface, so if you've got access to a treadmill, you can set it on an incline and increase your calorie burn even more.) I walk 5 km in 52…
  • Not unless you eat those meals within a certain window of time, usually 5-8 hours. Here's Nerd Fitness's take on it. https://nerdfitness.com/blog/a-beginners-guide-to-intermittent-fasting/
  • Unless you're a lifter, there's really no point in messing with macros. Just be sure to get enough protein and fiber, and you should be okay.
  • Small woman with a low TDEE, here! On the days I work out, I generally have around 2.000 calories to eat. On days when I don't, that number is around 1.300. Kind of depressing, but I can totally see someone who doesn't want to or can't exercise having to eat 1,200 calories or less to lose weight. My low TDEE is one of the…
  • I don't think I would use the features, but I have considered it, because this site is so useful. I just don't currently have the spare cash to do so.
  • FYI, they're 17 carbs each, with 1 gram of fiber and 3 grams of sugar. My daughter's diabetic friend always asks me for that info before she eats here.
  • I'm tracking my fiber, because I've become aware that I wasn't getting enough. What I did was go to my home page > settings > diary settings and selected Fiber under Nutrients Tracked. If you choose both Carbohydrates and Fibers, a little math will help you see how many net carbs. HTH!
  • It would probably be cheaper for you to just buy some whey protein to add to your smoothies. From what I understand about Herbalife, the ingredients they use aren't the highest quality, which, considering the price you pay for it, would be reason enough for me to spend my money elsewhere.
  • ^^ What she said. After being on MFP for awhile, logging becomes easy. I'm a creature of habit. I don't try new recipes more than occasionally, so I don't have to log "new" foods very often.
  • If your body is tired or weak, do not force yourself to work out, whether you go to a gym or not. Let your body use its energy to heal, then you can get back to working out.
  • ^^What KickassAmazon said. People grow up being compared and comparing themselves to others, but we're all better off comparing ourselves to ourselves. A good example of this is what happened with me very recently. I follow Jamie Rahn, of American Ninja fame, on my Facebook feed. Sometimes, he passes along training tips to…
  • For me, that would actually be too little food. My TDEE. with exercise (I walk 5K/5 days a week) is around 1900-2000 calories. (I'm just under 5'2".) Everyone has different needs, and even when you use a TDEE calculator, you have to tweak your recommendation to get it right for you. As for the right weight for you, there…
  • I can't ADF. I just... can't. I want to exercise 5 days a week, and I like food to much. If you keep failing, try just regular IF. It helps me keep my calories down, plus it's easier for me to delay gratification until 3:00 pm or later than ADF.
  • I have what I suspect is gout in my left knee. I can't be sure until my annual physical, when I'm going to bring it up to my doctor. Regardless, I also have orthopedic stuff going on in that leg, due to having to have a rod inserted after a car accident many years ago. I haven't been able to run without pain since. So, I…

  • I'm 5'1.5", and my TDEE at my perfect weight of 125# (not there yet) will be 1632 calories without exercise. If I spend an hour walking on the treadmill (3.7 mph, 5K, 15% incline), I burn an additional 584 calories. If I walk 5 days a week, that's easily 2050 calories a day, 7 days a week. Sure, it takes a chunk of time,…
  • I agree with this advice. It works very well for me, because I'm one of those people who just isn't hungry before 3:00 pm or later. I find, on days I don't eat until dinner, I more than make up for waiting by eating more than I normally would, so it doesn't really cut my calories much. It does, however, help me manage my…
  • Are you a Ninja Warrior? I love watching obstacles. I wish I were coordinated enough to do them, but I'm not coordinated enough to do more than walk. :p

  • No tips about making the switch from me, because I've always been too much of a cheapskate to join WW, lol. But, I applaud you for saving the money. One of the best parts of MFP is, if you choose it, there's kind of the same accountability that I imagine comes from attending WW meetings, if you open yourself to it. (My mom…
