  • I have a "lead by example" approach...my boyfriend weighs more than I do, and because of that sometimes I got the vibe that he likes me "big" so that he won't break his "delicate little flower". Well, his preferences aside, there are simply too many health risks in my family for me to keep being actively unhealthy. And…
  • I wish I had a pony! I've walked the whole way so far, mostly because I have no idea where to bike around here. (I just moved outside the city limits and there are no sidewalks or even shoulders on the roads for a newbie like me.) I took the right fork away from Stock and am on a path winding through ancient oaks. There's…
  • I used to use my hands and put them together in the shape of NY and then use my thumb for NYC; Rochester was about where my index and middle finger met; maybe saying that would have been easier!
  • Let's hear it for the "other" New York--the upstate. No joke; all through college when I said I was from NY, it was "oh it must be so awesome to live in a city like that!" ....No, I'm from upstate New York. I'd never been to the city until after college. I was born and raised in Rochester, which is a pretty sizeable city…
  • Personally, I'm a fan of ThinkGeek's Annoy-a-tron and Evil-tron. I had a blast with the boss at my old job because I could pretend not to hear it...but after half an hour I was finding it hard to keep a straight face every time she flipped out. I've had the Post-it thing done to me--I kept the notes for use later. :)…
  • Hi there! We're all doing this at our own pace, so feel free to visit the Eowyn Challenge site and start the journey for yourself! We post back here every so often to tell where we are and what company we're keeping. LOL As for me: Road zig-zigs to top of a steep bank and goes down for the last time. Can see across Woody…
  • Half-gallon ice cream...at least, any kind where the base is vanilla. For some reason, that kind of ice cream just tastes gritty and over-processessed...give me a 40-calorie fudge pop any day!
  • Awesome! I just saw you go by; I am 22.2 miles down the road which is rolling up and down. :)
  • Hi! This is an open group; we use tickers to track our individual progress. Using the mileage found in the Eowyn Challenge (http://home.insightbb.com/~eowynchallenge/), we've chosen the paths we're going to take and post here to tell where we are. From what I've seen, most of us start from Bag End and start by going to…
  • I hear you with the slow going; the only time I clock my "mileage" is when I walk at work--I wear a pedometer and divide my steps by 3000. I average about 3 miles per day. I really would like to bike for miles (at least the hobbits had ponies for the first hundred plus miles!) but I don't dare go without someone who knows…
  • Say 'hi' to Aragorn for me; it'll be awhile before I see him. Almost to Stock Road; will get there on my lunchtime walk. ^_^
  • Once upon a time, I had a friend in college who was from Cali...and yes, she was rude. Not in a purposeful way, I suppose, but she was just plain bossy. However, I attributed that to being raised as the only daughter in a rich family, NOT to where she was from. I mean, I'm originally from New York, and I know I come off as…
  • If you haven't seen this link yet, go here: http://home.insightbb.com/~eowynchallenge/ Some of us less hardy folk have chosen to do the journey in smaller segments; look through the different paths and pick what you want to do! Although I've chosen to go to Rivendell, some other (smarter) people decided that the Prancing…
  • For me, it's not so much what I won't EAT any more, but what I won't BUY anymore so I can't eat/drink it... - Juice - Milk (I developed semi-lactose intolerance recently from food poisoning and haven't had the guts to try almond or soy) - Cereal (see above--soooo sad!) - Pop (unless someone brings it into the house...but…
  • My official title is "Accounts Payable Specialist" which really means I'm a data entry clerk who can do nifty tricks with Microsoft Office applications. I also moonlight as a jewelry artist on Etsy sometimes. ;-) When I'm not wrangling bunnies or trying to keep my house together.
  • The sheer geekiness overwhelms. I am going to try at least from The Shire to Rivendell on the Eowyn Challenge posted on the first page of this thread. ;-) I might make it all the way to Mordor!
  • I was playing a dance game on the Wii and I had to keep a grip on my jeans with both hands to keep them from falling off! (I was in mixed company.) Before I started MFP, I couldn't wear those jeans. ;)
  • Have to confess, I don't watch my sodium...but when I was in college, right there with ya on the Ramen thing. I quickly learned that I like "sticky" Ramen...kind of like sticky rice. So I would cook the noodles, drain off most if not all the water, and lightly sprinkle 1/4-1/2 of the seasoning packet on and throw the rest…
  • 1. To get off some of the medication I'm taking now. 2. To show my doctor that I don't NEED her $550 12-week weight loss plan. 3. To show my mother that I am disciplined in and of myself; I don't need to borrow motivation. 4. To inspire my boyfriend to lose weight and be healthy. I'm not losing for looks (although it will…
  • We're attempting some form of antipasta...something. Grilled chicken, tomatoes and mozzarella cheese seasoned with basil, and I'm lobbying for lightly sauteed 'shrooms. I think we're planning to serve it on ciabatta rolls. Add to that some form of side vegetable and that makes the meal.
  • We make this recipe at home--it's fabulous! We omit the onions and chili powder, though, and use monterey jack cheese instead. Add to it a couple of slices of french bread to dip in it = YUMM.
  • I love labs; if I ever decide to go big and get a dog, I want a lab mix. ;)
  • The name "Key" is my Fanfiction.net author name...until they made all usernames unique...now it's o0_Key_0o.... I've kept that part, but nowadays most websites require usernames that are 6 characters long or more. Velvet was one of my favorite characters from David Eddings' Malloreon five-book series...so put it together…
  • Yes, I had a week or two go by where the two smallest toes on my left foot were constantly numb. I called my doctor's office, as well as did a little research online, and the conclusion I came to was a knot/pinched something in my foot. It really scared me for a few days, because I would wake up and couldn't feel them. The…
  • 10/12; currently a getting-too-loose 18.
  • I work for the school district and I walk with a group of 3-5 other ladies in my department (Food and Nutrition, ironically enough!) twice a day. We use our government "smoke" break to walk 15 or so minutes in the morning, and then our lunch breaks to walk 30 minutes in the afternoon. Since we're in an old refurbished high…
  • Agree on the dance games--I am actually using Mario Mix (meant for GameCube but Wii compatible) and I am forced to log it as jazzercise because I don't think the calorie counter on the game is accurate. Also, since I subscribe to Redbox, I was notified that some Redboxes now rent a Zumba game for the Wii, so I might go try…
  • Reading my current Honor Harrington novel, preferably while lying in the shade somewhere and watching my rabbits frolic. Possibly followed by some light packing for my move and an episode or two of Leverage. But, I do love where I work and I have an awesome group of ladies I walk with twice a day to get my exercise in. So…
  • Bump for later. Briefly: I was diagnosed with PCOS two days ago, also. I have picked up my Metaformin prescription but have yet to take it because I'm not sure I agree with the diagnosis. (I was tested once before when I was starting college and the results were inconclusive.) My mother says that you don't have to display…
  • I don't know about filling up, but I prefer to buy Lean Michelina's meals. I usually eat them with a small bag of carrot sticks and a piece of fruit. At the Wal-Mart near me, they are always $1.00. I have them for lunch every day, and usually the highlight nutrition facts are on the lid so you don't have to stand there and…
