  • It depends what you set your lifestyle as. If you set it as sedentary, then log every time you move. If you set it as lightly active, then it takes into account that you move more than someone who has a desk job (like me.)
  • I'm Kristina, just turned 36, Mom of 4: 8, 6 (times 2) and 14 months. Married almost 10 years. I have struggled with my weight and body image for as long as I can remember. Highest weight (not pregnant) was 195, before getting pregnant with #4 and shortly after she was born. Finally decided to do something about it and…
  • It depends what your daily calorie allowance is. I try (but am not always successful) to divide my calories evenly over breakfast, lunch and supper, trying to keep around 200 for snacks. If I ate that breakfast, I'd have to starve the rest of the day. lol. But if it fits into your calories, it sounds awesome!
  • Recent reviews of data have shown that weight loss is something like 80% what you eat and 20% exercise. I have lost 41 lbs with only counting my calories. I have finally plateaued and am starting to incorporate exercise into my day. I have started C25k this week, got EA Active 2 for Wii for Christmas (though the leg sensor…
  • Simplest answer: your body doesn't know if the sugar came from an apple or a donut. It's sugar and it will be processed as such. However, the fruit has more going for it nutritionally than the donut.
  • OMG, is that the Krebs cycle?? :noway:
  • I definitely ate too many large calories...that's why I had to sign up on MFP.
  • ^^^ Bahahahahahaha!
  • Actually, they are the same. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calorie
  • So many to choose from!! I don't think the man has a bad song. If I have to pick, I guess it would have to be Piano Man. My mom and I saw him (and Elton what's his name) in Ottawa on the Face 2 Face tour. Best day of my life!! Well, other than my wedding day...the births of my children...yeah, right after those,…
  • Not very imaginative: I'm Mama to Catherine, Alexander, Emma and Isabelle.
  • OMG!!! Amazing transformation. Congrats to you on all your hard work and dedication. You look fit and healthy!!
  • Count me in!! I hit my original goal back in October (only by changing my eating habits, no exercise) then decided to go for another 10 lbs, but I've been stuck at 5. So I have started exercising and very much need to tone up too! After 4 kids (including twins!) I've got a little extra baggage to get rid of.
  • I had found one that adds back extra fat, protein and carbs too, and I was still losing about 1 to 2 lbs a week (when she was still exclusively breastfed) It's hard work making milk!!! Now that she's 14 months old, I'm probably burning more calories trying to hold her in place! She's really into the gym-nurs-tics!!…
  • Actually what you eat *can* contribute. Candida albicans thrives on sugar. (That's why diabetics are more prone to thrush/yeast infections.) The changes in hormones caused by pregnancy can also make you more suceptible to them.
  • I beg to differ. I had those feelings when I met someone nearly 11 years ago. It didn't take us long to say "I love you" to each other and within 3 months of meeting, we were planning our wedding. (And no, I wasn't pregnant.) This May, we will celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary, we have 4 beautiful children, and he…
  • And I'm in rural ON. :) I live in town, so I could run on the sidewalks, but they aren't always cleared... Anyway, I went to my mom's last night and used her treadmill. (I had totally forgotten she has one...that's how often it's used! lol)
  • I've only tried the Oats and Chocolate and LOVE them!!!
  • No personal experience, but I know 3 people who have had it done: two friends and a co-worker. My co-worker has had some complications. She had the surgery 2 years ago and still has difficulty eating. She was told it would go away after a few weeks, but 2 years later, every time she eats, she doesn't know if her meal will…
  • I will be late joining you...a co-worker was supposed to burn a copy for me, but I forgot to bring her a blank DVD. Then Christmas break hit, and she went to Florida. She's back in the office tomorrow, so I will def. be bringing her my blank DVD!!!!
  • Small-town extreme Eastern Ontario...like right at the Quebec border. :) (An hour east of Ottawa, an hour west of Montreal.) My husband is from Nova Scotia...met him when I was in grad school at Acadia.
  • A Coach purse. :) I've been giving myself small rewards every 10 lbs, and I've had buy new clothes just because the old ones don't fit anymore, so that's more practical than rewarding. lol.
  • ^ This. Eat celery. You burn up the calories chewing it!
  • Plus Xylitol is good for your teeth!!
  • I always measure my flavoured creamer. But when I use it, I find it sweetens the coffee enough, so I don't use Splenda. If I don't have a flavoured creamer, I have my coffee with Splenda and 2% evaporated milk. It's creamier than regular milk, but lower in fat and calories than cream (and flavoured creamers). There is also…
  • OMG, I know how you feel! For a while, I weighed anywhere from 5 to 10 lbs more than him and it was so embarassing! I don't think it bothered him, but boy, did I hate it! Now that we've both lost weight (he's lost around 30 lbs), I weigh 20 lbs less than he does and it makes me feel much more feminine just knowing that!
  • I just bought a cheap little kitchen scale at Walmart. It works for me. I have also learned how to eyeball a portion size over my months of weighing and measuring. Because hand sizes do vary so much, I like more "standard" measurements, like a deck of cards is a portion of meat, a tennis ball is a portion of pasta, etc.
  • When I can, I go with weight. I think it's more accurate, especially depending on the kind of food, i.e. pasta or cereal. Liquids and such, I'd go with volume.
  • ^This, exactly. At my heaviest, I wasn't seeing myself as I really was. I was totally in denial. It was having to shop for larger clothing back in the spring that made me realize what I had allowed to happen. (It wasn't just "baby weight" anymore!!) After I'd lost about 25 lbs, the image in the mirror matched the one in my…
  • Mine are on my home computer (I'm at work right now). I'll try to remember to put some up tonight.
