Diet is equally if not more important than the workouts. I lost 34 pounds after 2 rounds of P90X and am currently on day 5 of Round 5. the only advice I'd like to give on nutrition is the programis not designed as a weight loss one. So the guide's calorie recommendations are for someone close to their ideal weight. My goal…

Currently at 50 Protein, 30 carb 20 fat. I do that for the first month of P90X then go to 40/40/20. I find that 50% protein is hard for me to do for much longer than a month. IF I I'm lacking in energy then I bump the carbs a bit one day. Works good for me as I do mostly weight training with 2 days of cardio, if I were on…

Too may factors involved to rely on someone elses numbers. I primarily do P90X but through in an Insanity workout to mix up the cardio. the last time I did Plyo Cardio Circuit, which isn't even the biggest calorie burner, I hit 575 calories with a max HR of 168. Routines like Prue cardio I can easily hit over 800 calories.…

Alcohol really is counter productive in trying to lose weight. It is essentially a poison that your body needs to break down first. Much of the other other calories you consume get stroed as fat while your body works on the alcohol. There truly is a reason they call it a beer belly. It really isn't the calories that are an…

Polar FT4. $90. Love it. Simple and does what i need. Gives me calories burned, total workout time, Max and Average HR for workout. Researched it's caloric burn calculation. The studies that were done show that the algorithm Polar uses yields comparable results to the gold standard ,VO2 Max testing. Tim

My legs were sore for a week after that first Plyo x session. It was brutal. the key was to do it again next week. I started my 5th round Monday so I did Plyo X last night and I use a 10 pound medicine ball with 60% of the moves and I'm nowhere near as sore the next day. I know I worked out but It doesn't hurt to sit down…

I took a look at your diary. On what appears to be your completely filled out days I'd say you're drastically under eating. I know that is an overused term here but it is quite sound for a number of reasons. 1) As you starve yourself, and 800-1000 calories is starving, your metabolism will slow down making your body more…

It takes a while to get into the groove of both the workouts and the nutrition. Another poster hit the nail on the head about it not being a weight loss program. IsI followed the nutrition guide when I first started I would have had to eat 3,000 claories. I ended up eating around 2,200 and had great succes on my first two…

Started Round 5 yesterday. Chest and Back was as brutal as ever. Plyo tonight is a blast.

I mistakenly bought no sodium added cottage cheese once, and to me it was unedible. Had to add some fruit like you said.

Unsweetened Vanilla Almond milk.

The thing is, after an intense workout your body needs to repair the "damage" you just did to your muscles. Protein works but takes long to digest. The current science suggest a high glycemic carb that is quickly absorbed by your muscles in a ratio of 4 grams of carbs to 1 gram of protein. Chocolate milk has that ratio. In…

Yes. Regardless of the source, a gram of fat is 9 calories so count them.

The Polar FT4 is $90 from ****'s Sporting Goods or even Sears. The chest strap provides constant monitoring of your Heart Rate. NOt sure about all wrist only monitors, some require you to hold a button while it checks your HR. With the chest strap your heart rate is monitored the whole time so at the end of your workout…

Lots of different views on this. Read some interesting bit on this topic lately. If your doing moderatel level cardio you should eat some protein before your workout as you'll burn fat for energy but not begin to metabolize your muscle as you've ingested some protein. For HIIT stuff you'll need Carbs to fuel those higher…

I have the same model and I've only entered my age, weight, and sex. In fact, the manual says you should not change your max HR setting unless you actually had it lab tested. User Information Select Settings > User Information and press OK. Weight: Enter your weight. Height: Enter your height. Date of birth: Enter your…

When you register at teambeachbody.com you get assigned a random coach unless you know of one that you specifically want to request. When I first signed up my coach was not very helpful. Others I've met on the messages boards have had mixed reviews about their coaches. I found a great coach through the boards and changed.…

Sub out plyo x and Kenpo cardio for running. Trying to do P90X to the letter and trying to run 3 days a week is recipie for injury on my opinion. Tim P90x Day 76 Round 4

Totally agree that real food is the best way to go. I'm trying to hit around 260g of protein a day and a two scoop shake with 40+ grams of protein with few carbs and fat just makes hitting that goal so much easier. I can only eat so much Tuna, eggs, chicken and fish in a day.

Most people don't even make it 30 days so great work. As for the LEAN program, it was added as an after thought. The program was really designed as the Classic version. Tim P90X - Day 74 Round 4

Agree that it is odd that they had different caloric intakes, but not sure what to do about them being two different groups of people. Someone can only be on one plan at a time. Just found it interesting that the weight loss was so dramtically different, 8 pounds compared to 40. However, like you said they had different…

Heres' what i had for Lunch today. One can of Chicken of the Sea Albacore tuna, and Chobani Greek Yogurt, 67 grams of protein

Honestly, the base package is all you need. You need a pullup bar and theirs is nice but more cost effective versions exists. the pullup bar I use is homemade, a length of gas pipe bought from Home Depot with two flanges, screwed into ceiling joists in my garage. $10. The bands work and are great for travel but I prefer…

They are an awesome way to measure your performance improvement as your Max and Ave. HR should decline over time.

The HR monitors are really only good for cardio. They aren't really designed for resistance work since Heart Rate really isn't a foctor there. Traditional resistance work that is not circuit training which is more cardio anyway. The calories burned vary on so many factors. I just did Plyo X last night holding a 10 pound…

Greek yogurt rules. Personally I prefer Chobani, $12 for case of 12 at Costco

In a pinch it is ok. It has the right mix of carbs and protein. After a tough workout you need carbs for replace the glycogen your muscles just burned so this will do that for you. I'd go look for soem true recovery drinks, like Accelerade or the P90X REsults and REcovery Formula. Comsume this right after your workout,…

Sounds pretty good, but doesn't look like there's much protein in there though.

The P90X nutrition guide has extrememly high protein requirements for the 1st phase. 50% of your calories are to come from Protein. It is difficult to get that from lean meats and things so protein shakes are a good supplemental source. Try to get as much protein from real food as possible then have a shake if you need to…

As other have said, you need a Heart Rate Monitor and then they are really only good for cardio workouts. The algorithm most use is not very accurate for resistence training. I don't even wear mine doing the P90X resistance workouts, only for cardio. When I do Plyometrics, I burn 740 calories on average with a max HR of…
