  • When I started on my journey I just wanted to maintain, I was very happy at 140lbs, but with exercise and eating sensibly my shape has changed dramitically (yes i have lost a few more lbs) but at the end of the day it is just a number. Your ULTIMATE goal should be to be happy as you and feel comfortable in you own skin. We…
  • Sarah, you don't say if you are doing any exercise, as I know adtional exercise works for me. If you are exercising, try something new as sometimes your body needs a kick start and by doing something different to your normal routine can work. Good luck with your journey it will happen, because you want it to
  • I fluctuate also, so I try to stick with getting weighed around the same time on the same day each week/two weeks. Don't get disheartened it's like everyone else is saying a NSV especially where clothes are concerned are big victories and well worth celebrating. Keep up the good work, your doing great
  • Hi, I have knee and ankle issues, old injuries from dancing and skiing as a teenager and into my early 20's and therefore struggle with anything that is hard impact, such as running and steppers. So I tried spinning and found it a great cardio class (good for shifting the fat) and great for getting the heart pumping but…
  • Hi, I use Graze also, here's the link to their site where you can sign up and get your first box half price. http://www.graze.com/ Hope you enjoy them :)
  • Try a different cardio work out, I found that doing different cardio work outs helps to speed things up, but as everyone else says, you can't spot work on one area for getting rid of the fat, it will go in its own time. My belly was the last area to show signs of toning and reducing fat. BTW I do Spinning classes, Zumba,…
  • I find going to classes beneficial as there are others there to encourage you, I go to spinning classes for cardio, Zumba tone, pole fitness and TRX for resistance training and have just started Rebound and Bokwa which are like combination of cardio and resistance. These are on alternate days so my routine is varied. Hope…

  • Ladies I know just how you feel, 2 years ago I decided enough is enough and decided the only way the weight is going to come off is to cut down on the portion size but most importantly to get active. I made time for me and ensured I spent a least 1 hour per day being physically active where at least 30 minutes of this time…
  • I would definitely go see a physio, one that treats sports injuries, I went to my GP about my knee, he said it was doing this, that and the other, recommended Ibuprofen gel and tablets, that was it (didn't work). So I took my self to the physio who sorted it in 4 sessions and gave me rehabilitation exercises to keep it on…
  • Hi, I count all my liquid intake as water count, fruit juice (yes I add to my calorie count, but also as water as all fruit and veg do carry a certain amount of water) and I have read somewhere (quite a while ago) that this does count as your water intake (even if its just half the amount of a glass of water overall), plus…
  • Hi try the following: Bingo wings - try doing tricep dips using either the bottom step of your stairs or a sturdy dining chair. Stomach - sit ups are good but only focus one area of the stomach, try V sits, cycling (lay flat with hands under lower back for support and then cycle your legs but long and low) this really aims…
  • Well done you on giving up smoking the long term health benefits far out weigh the short term weight gain; those 6lbs will soon melt away, as you will feel more active and healthier with no long smoking :) Keep up the good work.
  • I use my husbands android phone whilst out and about, and I use my Ipod whilst around the house for keeping MFP upto date. Both work equally as well as the other in terms of being able to record what exercise you have done and food you have eaten. It all depends on what you want to do and how much you want to pay.
  • Try adding some tricep dips in and shoulder presses so that you work the whole of your arm and shoulder area for a balanced work out on your arms. You need to aim for a complete work out of around min of 45 mins to get the full benefit, this time can include your warm up and cool down and at least 5 times a week.
  • Hi, try changing your routine, do something new, like try a new exercise class, this will probably give your body the kick start it needs to get back on track. I found that when I do the same things all the time I come to a grinding holt with my weight loss, so every now and again I'll do an extra class at the gym or…
  • Hi I joined about 30 days ago, and since joining I have lost 6lbs, and well on my way to reaching my ideal weight. Thanks to this site and the mobile app, I am able to keep a close eye on what I am eating, what exercise I am doing and making sure I get enough to eat to ensure I loose the weight. Thank you MFP for getting…
  • I know exactly how you feel, I'm always at my worst 3 days before and during for the first 3 days. For me exercise works, if I'm at work I'll take a walk away from my desk, get a glass of water, but I know I will give in so I have mini jaffa cakes to hand, they are relatively low in calories, low in fat and the chocolate…
