Great determination and self-will. This is one of those things that people will say all kinds of things but the proof is in the results which came with you really wanting this and following through, and I am sure through lots of pressure from all sides and also the force of past habits etc... Congratulations!

Manhattan here! Good luck and feel free to add me...

Fellow Dad here(boy and a girl 19 months) - feel free to add me. Welcome, welcome!

Good for you - I gained a lot of weight for my wedding.. but not on purpose :) Got back to fitness but def took some concerted effort. Sent you an add request -- good luck.

When you eat, are you focusing on the eating, and eating slowly? This is something I rarely do myself, but it can make a difference... Also this may sound dumb, but what if your calories over were because you ate all healthy food? Can you start by making the calories you eat healthy? One morning I had 2 mini cucumbers…

Pumpkin Mousse and pizza - I felt like I had about 5 servings of the mousse (we were entertaining on Halloween)

I certainly came close - I was at 194/6 got down to 165-167 range a couple years back and this summer I rejoined at 184 (something like that). If you can keep logging it's probably a good idea. Sounds like you need a maintenance plan or to set some new goals to keep you inspired (race you will run in spring, commitment to…

This has to be the longest post in history :)

Yeah, you just do it and don't think too much - get some music to fill your ears and dress warm - I have a 24 hour gym and it's been great. I actually find it tougher for me to go later in the day - the more time that passes, generally the harder for me it gets. If you can do the after work thing more power to you - I…

As someone who has struggled with staying out of the diabetic range as well as acid reflux issues, I can say a nutritionist has been and is currently a huge help to me - I can't make time to get to the nutritionist so we do skype sessions after my kids (yep I have kids too) have gone to bed - nutritionists can really help…

I highly recommend a book called "What to say when you talk to yourself" - Basically you can keep repeating self-affirmations and after a while something inside starts to listen. - Example, "I feel great, I look great and the future is wide open. I take care of my mind my body and my health" = it is not a cure all but I…

Pretty awesome you have fitness at the forefront of your life and have incorporated it in your family!

Kids have a way of cutting right through everything... Just your posting here is a good sign I think. You can do this! Feel free to add me - I am a dad too, albeit of toddlers. - Good luck!

I have 3 days a week where I work 6am-3pm and sometimes yes I go to the gym at 4/4:30 - but I have found it hard to sustain at that time. As long as you can get rest (go to bed early, etc) I think it's fine. Otherwise I like to work out early much more than later because come the evening I am usually pretty pooped...…

Sounds like you are doing a lot of good stuff - these things don't happen overnight though - just keep at it and it will happen. Def I think the hardest part is the healthy eating part of things. For me that part is toughest when I am on little sleep - adequate rest/sleep is one of those things people often don't mention…

Would like more friends - particularly any 40+ new dads like me phasing in fitness where I can...

Welcome! Just jump in... we all have fears and obstacles, schedules etc... it sounds like you came to MFP and you posted your comment because something in you is more afraid not to start. I have caused some damage through some of my habits in the past and have issues such as acid reflux which seems to make me extremely…

Good for you! I also have been getting back to health and back on mfp - right in time for the holidays - logging may help damage control things - just know it's a process, one day at a time right? Good luck! Feel free to add me.

Thanks Good tips..."reps of kit kats"... I love it. So true though, it's going to be a long holiday season. Working closely with a guy today who's been having the kit kats since 10am this morning. Yesterday I turned down a cookie - I explained that after that cookie I would be thinking about having 5 pints of ice cream. I…

Just a general thought: Is it possible to actually not weigh every single thing like condiments and just focus on getting exercise and moderate diet? I don't mean you should not log, but perhaps you can do estimates for a while? Also is there a way to go out with your co-workers and just have a moderate amount of the…

Welcome here! One day at a time we're all trying to get there. Feel free to add me. I am trying to fend off acid reflux and diabetes, we all have our challenges. Happy to support however you need it, and I don't kick anyone else in the pants.

Both are valuable depending on your needs. If you have to choose what is your more serious prority? I tell you I did both at one point and it was pretty amazing - but I had very specific needs on both sides: 1) Nutritionist - I was a pre-diabetic, sugar junkie and suffer from bad acid reflux - they really helped me and did…

Welcome! I am also back again - prob 3rd or 4th time as well - I was really successful several years back but more extreme, and I let it all go. Now with two kids in the picture I am trying to work towards something more sustainable. Feel free to add me - "irejuvenateme"

Binge eating processed sugar treats (cookies, ice cream etc). Using caffeine and sugar together when working late hours. These are ongoing challenges even though I am getting in front of it the last month or so.
-
You've been through a lot and welcome here! I have two kids so I couldn't imagine three! I am curious what are the calories you are eating - in other words - if they are healthy foods, plenty of fruits and vegetables, or a lot of processed foods? Working out 4 days a week is great and sounds like you are headed in the…

Hi Kelly - I hear you on the sugar addiction this has been a chronic issue for me for years. I find fruit can be great for the sweet tooth, and protein and fiber are a great combination. Things like plain greek yogurt with fruit and nuts, don't let yourself starve (at least for me when I am starving I feel like I'll eat…

Hi there - a lot of people jumped on the band wagon here. I would just say this: Focus on health and sustainability. What happens when you lose the weight? What then? You can eat plenty of healthy, good food in my opinion, fruits, vegetables and get your protein, and mix it with exercise and you will get to a good place.…

I hear ya... I just rejoined too, last time I had good results but things got hectic, had kids and have been getting back to exercise, but it's a lot of ups and downs. I have some health considerations to give me extra motivation (reflux, staying out of the diabetes zone) I'll send you an add - let's do this!

Thanks 8Nuya8! Good luck to you as well!
