A tasteful artsy one.

This it's great advice. I think an older rigid mountain bike is easier than touring bike to find in your price range. I would add that it's worth it to spend some of what you save on the places where your body touches the bike (seat, grips, and to a lesser extent pedals). Comfort there will make a big difference in how…

It really is an issue I've got to deal with. I'd love people's ideas for that as well. In the past my fitness regime was just spending lots of time hiking, biking, playing soccer, etc. Unfortunately, that doesn't work for my life right now. All of you are so inspiring! My wife and I just started MFP together last week. We had our first child just over 2 months ago and we want to make sure we are healthy for him and for ourselves. I'll have to convince her that we should put up a before and after pic when he time comes.

It's ok. Nobody's perfect ;) You two look great and your progress is inspiring, so at least you have that going for you.

Well done! You might try a rail trail for your first century. If you can do 50 up and down hills, you can do a mostly flat century!

Hi All, I'm just starting on MFP. 3 miles this morning. Looking forward to cooler weather!

Congratulations on quitting smoking! It's an accomplishment you should be really proud of. I'm just getting started on MFP as well, but feel free to add me.
