I braise a large pork butt, shred it, then bag & freeze it in single portions. I can just pull it out and heat it up whenever I want -- throw it over greens w/black beans or brown rice & mushrooms... endless possibilities. Also keep a bag of frozen tilapia filets in the freezer -- easy defrost & quick cooking. Turkey…

"Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence." -- Helen Keller A lot of us used yesterday's U.S. elections as a reason to eat extra big. What are you doing today to recover?

Dark chocolate and red wine aren't cheats in my book! I have chardonnay almost every day and a few dark chocolate almonds several times a week. I actually don't do cheat days. I did a junk food splurge (fast food hamburger) yesterday for the first time, and might do that every now and then when I feel like it. But mostly…

I've been cycling for awhile within a 500 calorie window. Then yesterday, just for grins, I decided to eat the junk food item (hamburger) I've been fantasizing about (670 calories) -- which I haven't done in a year, then ate to 200 calories OVER maintenance for the rest of the day (on purpose). The idea was to shock my…

"Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible." -- Dalai Lama That includes being kind to yourself. Don't judge yourself too harshly. We are all doing the best we can, one day at a time. Have a beautiful Sunday. Peace, Alice

That's what I thought. ;c) So that means that having people looking at our diaries causes some of us to cheat ourselves due to peer pressure? Not only that, peer pressure of people we don't know, who don't know our names, and who are unlikely to ever set eyes on us?

Yes, the tofu shirataki are the kind I get, too! You can order them from miraclenoodles.com, too.

I'm crying!!!! This is the best thing all week! !!!!!!

I eat mostly clean, organic, high protein, whole foods with special attention to sodium (under 1500mg/day). That balances out to moderately low carb (@100g net), but I usually have 2-3 portions of whole grains and fruit each day.

"The key is to keep company only with people who uplift you, whose presence calls forth your best." -- Epictetus Did I mention I was a philosophy major? ;c) What's going to make today especially SUPER???

@amflautist -- I appreciate passion, but I hope you're not as angry as you sound. Did I miss something? Was BMR mentioned at all in that post? We've had conversations here before (in the week we've been up) about general guidelines for setting goals for calories and macros. Short of people running spreadsheets -- which I…

She's right. MFP is notoriously low for most everybody. Go for .8-1.2g per pound of LBM (lean body mass) depending on how much strength training you do -- which is around 90-120g for most of us.

"A calorie is a calorie." If losing weight is your only goal, then this is true. You can eat 1500 calories worth of McDonald's or 1500 calories of fish or 1500 calories of chips & salsa or 1500 calories of broccoli, and you will lose weight. But if overall health and long life is your goal, you must eat the right calories.

YES!!! I have a friend complaining that her doctor put her on meds to control her blood sugar... she sticks to her calorie count and is losing weight, but her meals are mostly fast food! Yikes!

You're beautiful! Own it! ;c)

Yes, lots of variables. What are you thinking?

Fixed the link.

I understand about the LIKE button. But sometimes there's just nothing more to say, but you want to let them know you're there. Know what I mean?

Tonight I'm having my favorite "home alone" meal: tilapia pan-fried with a pat of brown butter, black pepper & parsley, over shirataki fettuccine tossed in the pan juices, sesame oil, and ponzu, with a huge portion of baby arugula wilted in. Sometimes I'll top it with a fried egg to break into it -- like hollandaise -- but…

I use an app add-on that calculates net carbs and charts my percentages. It flags those entries that put net carbs upside down. Helpful. http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/124645

Thanks (for the link AND the inspiration for this post ;c) !

Panko is a Japanese bread crumb that is very crunchy (and delicious). But, yes, it adds carbs and white flour. I think your problem is that you're using frozen vegetables. Most of them have too much water, which is why you're getting a soggy result. My recommendation is to do what you've been doing (I use a 400 degree oven…
