Well, in order to eat the right number of calories, you need to know an approximate burn. So, let's say you burned 400-500 calories in your hour of circuit training - you will need to add those calories onto your 'allowance' for the day. Some people only eat half of the exercise calories back, but it's up to you.…

She clearly said "tight laced corsets will NOT make you lose or gain weight". Her post did not sound like an endorsement to me...
-
Sorry, I should have said " Lots of people advocate only eating back half your exercise calories" - i.e. those you have 'earned' on top of your normal calorie allowance! Best of luck! And keep asking questions, it's how we all learn from each other :)

Don't worry, the app is notorious for overestimating calorie burns! But the important thing is to bear it in mind, and maybe assume that myfitnesspal is being over generous. Lots of people advocate only eating back half your calories. Others advocate the use of heart rate monitors to get a more accurate log. Personally, I…

HOWEVER - I should also say, I just had a peek at your exercise diary - those sound like insanely overinflated calorie burns for the amount of time you exercise... please be cautious!

Her diary is saying 1402 for me. I agree, one day is fine if you're not hungry, but don't make a habit of it! You might find yourself hungrier tomorrow from post-exercise recovery, so if you go over your calories tomorrow or later in the week it's not a big deal. Though personally, I'd take it as a great excuse to reward…

What is your current weight, and what is your goal weight?

A salmon and cheese sandwich doesn't sound like 'junk' food to me! You're getting lots of protein plus beneficial Omega 3 from the salmon, protein and calcium from the cheese. It should be easy enough to fit this into your daily allotted calories, especially if you increase them up to 1440 (I think this figure was…

I set my calorie goal by saying I was sedentary. I then log my exercise each day, and eat my additional exercise calories. It gives me the motivation to actually go do something, if it means I can fit a slice of cake into my day! :)

No, the two are not comparable. Period blood is not a 'waste' like faeces is. It builds up in the uterus wall as protective lining, in case you happen to conceive. And if you get pregnant, it stays there. It serves a function. The whole idea behind the pill is that it provides 'pregnancy' hormones, so you hold onto your…

Glutamates :-/ Well, free glutamates I suspect. I would say it's a sensitivity rather than a 'true' allergy - the symptoms are uncomfortable and unsightly, but not life threatening. I can tolerate small amounts (the reaction is probably so small I don't notice it), but it's difficult to know the concentrations in most…

Yep, it's those pesky egg yolks... they're my big weakness... And butter. And cheese. And... :p
-
I am ALWAYS over on fat... I mean, two eggs and an avocado is already >30g :s To be honest, the only macro I really watch is protein, because I found I was rarely hitting my target. Fat on the other hand? Not a problem :p

One day isn't going to do any harm, just don't make a habit of it. Try and get some more calorie dense foods into your diet if you can only stomach small amounts (e.g. avocado, cheese, nuts). Keep an eye on your weekly calorie tally - if you are consistently eating fewer calories than you should, then you'll need to…

You could always keep the skin in a zip-loc bag, take it home and weigh the skin on it's own. Then just subtract that from 130g, and it will leave you with your banana weight.

Have the whole egg with breakfast, not just the white. Loads of lovely nutrients in the yolk!

Omelette?

@ElliInJapan ahhhh that's awesome! I just had a nosy at your profile, I'm also here as a scientist (hence the 'bio' part of my name!) I keep thinking I should take proper Japanese lessons, but I just can't find the time :\ Are you in Japan on a permanent basis? Sadly I'm here on a temporary contract, though I'd…

*コンビニ - still getting used to this keyboard...

Your Japanese is awesome, way better than mine - Kanji kills me every time. But I do know that ホットケーキ are basically like American breakfast pancakes (I buy them from the コンピニ more often than I should :o ) and yep, 溶かし (tokashi) バター is melted butter :) This thread has inspired me to go bento box shopping though... I've…

Would you be able to *drink* breakfast? Like some sort of shake/smoothie? You can get loads of delicious calories into those....
-
I actually have cabbage for my lunch today - I lightly boiled it, then mixed in some spinach, cream cheese and dijon mustard. I'm having it with buckwheat noodles (I imagine it would taste nicer with potatoes, but I didn't have time to make those before work!)

Bottle of wine. It'll top up your calories, AND numb the pain. :drinker: Just kidding. But, no, really...

You *need* fat in your diet - your body cannot function correctly without it.

Excellent, I found it much easier to keep on track when I could weigh things! So long as the packaging says it's that amount of calories then go with the packet  It just sounded a bit low to me, as the coconut milk I use is 120 calories for 1/3 of a cup! Which is why I was wondering if you were using coconut water…
-
Do you have a scale? Weighing the pineapple will give you a much more accurate estimate of calories. Also, unless you are using the tiniest splash of coconut milk, I would expect it to be higher in calories - unless you are using coconut water?
-
I have been ignoring the scale for 10 weeks, but I have been feeling slimmer so thought it was about time to see if the scale agreed with me. Well, it turns out that I finally hit my goal weight  Same weight I was 5 years ago. So happy! I should say, I have lost way more than 12lbs... I reset my ticker…

I feel sad that so many people don't get the thread :frown: I'm not shy of sharing my dairy - unless it's some sort of delicious cheese, like Gorgonzola, Roquefort, St Marcellin, Mont D'Or, Stilton, grilled Halloumi, Chaource, Double Barrel Lincolnshire Poacher, Epoisses.... Yeh, OK, I see where I was picking up those…

People are bombarded with advertising for supplements that will allow you to "lose 10lb in a week!" and so-and-so celebrity diet that "melts fat in less than a month" and other such insane claims. It is so prevalent, I am really not surprised people seriously believe them.

I'm not an expert by any means - but those weights you've quoted (i.e. leg press 55lb), how did you decide those weights? Can you perform the sets fully without failure? Perhaps see what is the heaviest weight you can deal with, one where you can just about complete your sets. Then that gives you a starting point for…
