  • Thank you! Today has been much better in terms of cravings. I'm actually using a great app for quitting smoking called quitsmokingapp :-) ...I highly recommend it
  • Good afternoon or whatever the timezone appropriate greeting would be for you right now, My day is unfolding well so far. I'm making the most of not having started my new job yet and just went for a midday run. My second out doors since I've been here and I absolutely loved it! I've been quite off target with my calorie…
  • Thanks Robbie_1982! I am enjoying hearing from everyone, also congrats on the 7lbs, that's fab! Good luck on your deadline ryanp_942! I submitted my thesis at the end of last year so the memories are still fresh enough to feel your pain. I've had a great day today (well technically yesterday now). I got a new job and I…
  • I'm a little too chocolate focussed for my liking today so far. Ahhhh! Wow, interesting. Water aerobics, roller derby, what other activities do we have represented here?
  • I listen to music, play around with intervals - change speed and incline and also something I don't think anyone has mentioned yet; listen to podcasts! I got through 75 minutes yesterday like that
  • Yes, I'm currently training for my 3rd half marathon. Happy training to you!
  • My running goals for this year are to run two half marathons, one in May and the other towards the end of the year. Sometime during the year I'd like to run a 10k. I'd be very happy if I could beat my PB of 2'20" for the half but I'm not so focussed on speed. Looking towards next year I may take on a marathon, but first…
  • Today: 6.2mi of running
  • My next half is on May 24th and I started training for that about a month ago. I may do a 10k next month also, we'll see.
  • I've just joined, here's what I have for the month so far... 1st: 6.21mi (ran) 3rd: 3.2 (walked) and 3.5 (ran) 4th: 1.35 (arc trainer), 3.2 (walked) 5th: 3.4 (ran), 1.3 (w) 6th: 2.2 (arc trainer), 3.2 (walk) Total: 27.56mi
  • I'm in for 110km this month, have done 21km so far
  • Hello and welcome

  • Welcome! 39 is a great streak, I'm not sure my record it was pretty high at one stage but I'm just getting back into it at the moment so I'm on 6. Feel free to add me if you like
  • Hmm, I'd like to join but my exercise goals don't really fit with your system. I'm planning just to run that distance or there abouts over the course of the month. Could do with the group motivation though so if that's allowed I'll just track my kms. So far I've just been for one run - 5.8km
  • I was in Melbourne recently, it rocked! Auckland here, so also neighbours but a little further afield
  • I'm slow so this is not an objective brag but just in terms of my personal improvement: I smashed my expectation and my PB by more than 12 minutes for a HM by running 2:23:19 on Sunday. I also took a couple of minutes off my PB 10K which is now 1:04:37, Yay!!
  • I'm not there yet, but I will be moving to Canada in a few months. East, but not quite that far east, still friend request me if you like :-) I'm well entrenched in my 30s, I will be 35 next month and have been out for coming on 12 years now. (Wow! I didn't realise it had been that long, life flies by when you're happy and…
  • Hmm, good question. You know, I'm not really sure what I will do ...keep living? :-) I do like the idea of have something to celebrate but I'm not sure what it will be. I have tended to have various different 'Y's along the way for smaller milestones. Mostly it was buying things, I bought a heart-rate monitor when I lost…
  • I run on the foot path and roads around the city where I live, I usually run early in the morning so there's not much traffic. On the occasion when I get out a bit later I run along the harbour and waterfront where there are pedestrian paths and no intersections. Its very beautiful! (especially at sunrise). One of my…
  • I did a run-walk hybrid lots of people have talked about at 235lbs. I also looked into running technique - I recommend Pose Running, there are lots of videos on youtube. This is really important because poor technique puts huge amounts of stress on your joints and when heavier this is particularly damaging. It took me…
  • Oh and in terms of tracking I use a Nike+ watch and at times the Nike app, or MapMyRun app. There are many websites where you can map a run to get an idea of how far you are running - if you're not too concerned about the data or you don't have a smart phone or want to buy a sports watch etc you can do this before (or…
  • My two biggest pieces of advice would be... a) Don't try to go fast, work on building up endurance and run at a pace you can talk at without being out of breath (speed will just come the more you run) b) Increase your distance each week by no more than 10% i.e.. if you run 8km one week, then the following week should…
  • Yes! It's great, I started a thread on it back a few years ago, I think you could still find that one using the search field. I run and swim for all my cardio these days but would recommend the app for that kinda thing
  • I don't feel this way anymore but when I was first starting to get back into running and felt self conscious, I got up early and went when it was still dark. I don't know if this is an option for you but I found there were still a few people around - I run on mostly main roads, and would see the same people opening cafe's…
  • Hi everyone, I seem to have become something of a solo poster on this thread. It would be great to hear back from others about how they got on in August. I had mixed results... My goals were 18km swim - I managed 14.5km 130km run - I managed 154km, this was my big success of the month, I have never had such high mileage!…
  • When racing (and training) I run continuously but I see many people doing run-walk ratios during races. I think it comes down to what each individual prefers and what works for you.
  • You can do the same on NIke+
  • I have exceeded my goal and still have a medium-long run on the weekend to do, feeling pleased! Wednesday: 5.3km Today: 6.2km
