  • I put a little bit of water or broth in the bottom; no foil. You can sprinkle the chicken with lemon pepper or seasoned salt. Add a few veggies if you like: onion, carrots, celery will make the broth more flavorful. But it works fine without as well. Chicken doesn't get brown because you're cooking with moist heat. I…
  • I WISH I could lose in my boobs. My chest strap size went down to 36 but cup size is still DD. I'm 5'8" and sometimes I feel like an amazon. I've lost 20 lbs since January and people are finally starting to notice out loud. It's. great motivator to keep going. I'd like to lose 20 or so more with a goal of 150.
  • I cook a whole chicken once a week or so, bone it and use for enchiladas, chicken and dumplings, soup, salad, etc. straine and freeze the broth, too. Tomorrow I'm cooking a pork butt (also called shoulder). Part of it will be pulled pork for BBQ, part frozen and later used as green chile pork burritos. I also like to put…
  • I can't answer your question but wanted to say " good for you" for taking life by the horns. Best of luck to you.
  • That's awesome! I was a tight 14, then a loose 14 and today I wore a pair of 12 pants from the back of my closet. They fit perfectly! It was so fun and I got lots of compliments on my "new" clothes.
  • Good for you for owning your behavior. I've binged befor and had the same self loathing you describe. Not sure I have any magic cures but I empathize. I have flu d that logging in MFP no matter what helps me stave off a binge. If I have to explain it to my feed friends, I'm less likely to go crazy. Accountability works in…
  • One thing that always kicks me off a plateau is eliminating sugar and processed foods. It's hard, you'll probably have a headache the first several days, but try going off for a month and I bet you'll see results.
  • While I don't normally like fast food, I did build a great, low cal bowl at Chipotle recently. I love that they have a flyer with all the nutritional info available. CPK is another that publishes all their cou to, making it easier to plan ahead.
  • Welcome, Jill and Val. Thanks for joining us. I'm Debra. I live in NE Phoenix. My kids are a bit older-- 17 and 20. I work out regularly at the Y, with spin and muscle conditioning classes. I've been on many diets and have gone up and down in weight my entire adult life. What I've changed this time is eating normal food in…
  • I found an awesome recipe for Caesar swordfish but you could use this technique on any fish. Salt and pepper the filet. Smear a dollop of Caesar salad stressing g on it and broil until it flakes in the middle. Serve with veggies, rice pilaf or whatever you like. I also like to make a sauce of hot pepper jelly and mustard.…
  • I use the elliptical occasionally at the gym but I hate that my feet fal asleep on it. Can usually do 30 min then have to switch to another machine to wake up my feet.
  • At 50 yrs old, I want to preserve my health, protect my bad knees and look good in my clothes. I'm 5'8" HW. 198 a few years ago. I lost, then gained and started over 1/1/13 SW. 188 CW. 174.5 GW. 150-155
  • Kaseybill, I agree. You'd think Pita Jungle would be healthy but when I checked their site, everything's really high for my plan. I had a business mtg the other day and had to select something. Went with the grilled chicken salad, which is around 350 for HALF the salad and you don't even get a pita!
  • Funny you'd mention RR. My teens wanted to go there last weekend and I was afraid there wouldn't be anything I could eat. But I had French onion soup and a side salad. Perfect lunch and i was so proud of myself for staying with my plan!
  • Great to meet you and thanks for responding. I think a lot of people want to hike, based on previous comments/threads. I have a bad knee and have to do low impact. I take a spin class at the YMCA 3 days a week and a weightlifting class 2 days a week. Both are at 5:30 am weekdays. I like getting it out of the way early!…
  • What a fascinating collection of people! I guess something interesting about me is that I worked for an NBA team for 14 years doing their public relations and community outreach.
  • The basic reason is I like to eat. So now I'm learning to make better choices, plan ahead and place a higher value on health than taste.
  • Sometimes the scale isn't the best measure. I take my measurements on the first of every month and without fail, I've lat inches every month, even when the scale was up and down. Good luck!
  • Thank you! I shared it with my boys, one of whom has been bullied.
  • Siena, you might try your local YMCA for fitness classes and their gym. I've been going for 8 years and there are all kinds of people there -- all ages, fitness levels. It's a very welcoming place. If you try a class, go a few minutes early and tell the instructor you're new and need any advice on getting started or proper…
  • It's about 2am in AZ and I have insomnia. Worrying about work stuff and trying to get tired by reading random posts :)
  • Hi. Also looking for support from those on a similar journey. I just turned 50, have a very hard time losing fat despite being active. Best of luck to all of us!
  • I'm no expert but if you're logging your exercise and taking that as permission to eat more, just don't log your exercise in MFP for a week or two and hold yourself to your calorie limit. I also find that planning my meals around my schedule helps. Also, I come home from work so hungry and can eat a mini binge before I…
  • If you figure it out, let me know. I just ate 20 vanilla wafers and used my period as the excuse.
  • I have worked out at the YMCA for 8 years now. I find it's full of regular people like me. They provide solid fitness advice, most of it at no extra charge. And they don't try to sell me anything extra. I go to spin class 3 days a week and a muscle class 2 days a week. It's not too crowded (most of the time) and I've made…
  • Hi, I'm Debra. I turned 50 last week. Losing fat is so much harder as I've aged but I'm focusing more on eating healthy and moving more. I thought I had really fallen off the wagon today but logged every bite I put in my mouth and found I'm only 275 calories over my goal. That's far better than my cheat days used to be. My…
  • For sandwiches, I like Orowheat Thins, 100 calories. I love a sandwich with Boars Head buffalo chicken. My favorite breakfast is a honey wheat Western Bagel with almond butter and honey.
  • I eat 1400 calories a day and exercise regularly. My diet is normal...just trying to eat more veggies and make the healthiest choices I can. I'm 5'8" . Started at 188 on Jan. 1 and now weigh 176 today. It's coming off slowly but I hear that's the safest way.
  • This is smart...a variety of healthy foods plus exercise will do it.
