I use either low-sodium soy sauce or fish sauce in place of straight salt, and I try to marinade my meats in some kind of hot sauce like sambal olek or use some seasoned rice wine vinegar.

It won't look wierd. You're bringing the party. Maybe grab a flavored vodka like the Stoli brand has? Just bring some limes and soda water or tonic. Hell, if you're that uncomfortable with people eyeballing your drinking, you can just drink the tonic water and lie and have a blast while everyone else gets tossed.
