I have one and I use it every time I work out. I just put on the HRM band then use the little button on the vivofit to move the HRM screen. When I'm finished doing my workout I press and hold until it says HEART OFF then I sync when I am ready. I find it works well although for some reason it didn't give me last nights…

Can't agree more. I have an undiagnosed injury in both my knees just now the doctor believes it is a tendon or muscle injury which is aggravating or is aggravated by the osteoarthritis which has developed in them. I am waiting on a physio appointment for a proper diagnoses and treatment. It has really hampered my training,…

Thanks both I may just get all righteous and write to them telling them their nutritional information is incorrect because it means that every time I have the cous cous I'm getting about 200 calories more then I think which does explain some of the achingly slow weight loss. In future I will ignore the packet and use some…

I know that. Its why I said I like to use it if I underestimate the amount of vegetables I have. I travel a lot and so keep frozen vegetables as the fresh ones go off before I can use them. Its easy to underestimate the actual portion size you are left with when all the ice melts and so on the occasions I have done this…

No it says you can add them but the calories are for water added only. This is also why I am confused but these are the values straight of the packet. I realise its only 50 calories and so its not a big deal but there are 100g dry cous cous in the packet which it says makes 2 portions so if I was to eat both of those…

I'm 5'62 and around 85kg which I think is some where around the 190lbs mark I'm looking to get down to in the region of 65kg but to be honest what I really want is to be able to jump up and down and for all of me to stop moving at the same time. I've just taken up weights in the last few months and having noticed already a…

Looks like a new series has just started here in the UK I watched it last night. 2 girls 18st (252lbs) and 16 st (224lbs) ..... one had put on 8 st (112lbs) in 3 years which I think is a rather impressive achievement in itself. They swore blind they ate 2000 cals and 1400 cals a day. All of it healthy, baked potatoes,…

Thanks I am pleased on the inch loss and I know that's what is really important.... I just don't understand the gain in weight. I like to understand these things it helps me not focus so much on the silly number on the scales

My PT is great. I work out with him 4-6 times a week depending on my work schedule. I have hypermobile ligaments so he has helped me find a way I can exercise and get fit and strong. My osteopath says my back is like a different back so to me he is worth every penny I pay him. £150 for 10 session which I think is about…

I just posted something very similar to this so interested in what advice you get

Sorry should be open now

I can't really help with this but I'm in the UK as well and noticed that when I have cabbage they are appearing in my breakdown. I'm equally mystified. Granted its frozen cabbage, I travel a lot so I tend to use frozen veg as it stays fresher but still I didn't expect trans fats. So any feedback on this as well as your…

I'm the same hormones and weight gain do not mix well. This month I did my maths all wrong with my TOM timing so when I got on the scales yesterday and had put on about a kg despite eating at an deficit and exercising well I was so fed up. Felt bloated, horrible and completely pathetic. Today the weight has dropped a…

I just found this out today and I have to say I think its a rotten biological trick from nature. I want my body to burn the fat way before it even considers burning my little muscles that I have worked so hard to build up. Ok this is a bit tongue in cheek, I'm no where near the scenario where this is likely to happen.....…

Hi Rachel I'm about your height and weight 5'6" and 86.8kg ( yes that 0.2kg matter :) ) I also struggle to stop eating the carbs although I am getting better at it. My mouth is literally watering now at the thought of pasta and cheese and garlic bread as I right this but thankfully my kitchen and therefore food is 3 floors…

I was getting down about this hitting new lows then the weight going back up and coming slowly back down. My weight chart looks like a particularly scary mountain range. Took my measurements today... then got my trainer to check them as I was convinced I'd done them wrong. I have lost: 4.4" from my chest 3.4" from my…

Yes so this. It's so frustrating I hit a new low get all enthused that all the hard work is paying off and then I'm up a kg or so for ages. Getting so fed up when everyone else is losing slowly and steadily where as it would be exaggerating the speed to say my weight loss is crawling down

Hi I did Scottish Slimmers a few years ago and my weigh in was about 5pm. I would normally stop drinking water at about 3pm-ish and always went for a pee just before the weigh in. In general I saw pretty consistent losses most weeks. As everyone says consistency is the key so I would pick a routine and stick to it, that…

I'm not sure that BMI should be taken as an good indicator of health. I have a friend who is tall and very fit. He cycles regularly ( minimum 22 miles a day), swims, runs, lifts weights and is strong and muscly. He eats healthily and in appropriate amounts. I'm just jealous I can't eat that much then again I don't get off…

Why? I know its restrictive in the form its in but it was designed that way as I needed a shock to my metabolic system to get things going and I retain water like nobodies business, but it seems healthy enough to me. All major food groups are covered and an abundance of healthy vegetables are incorporated. I'm not being…

Hi This is the plan my personal trainer gave me. He has a major thing against carbs so its fairly low, I know the calories are a bit on the low side at about 1000 calories a day depending on the meat but I guess you can up the protein as required. I found I lost quite well on it for the week I did it for although I'm sure…

I've found that since I started exercising properly over the last year or so I sweat much more and much easily. Although I find the sensation of it dripping off me rather horrible before I started sweating so much I just found I got hotter and hotter and hotter until I felt ill and couldn't really continue with the…

I feel your pain I'm the same and was getting really discouraged at the lack of actual weight loss then my PT gave me a fitness log. We record every session I do, what reps, what weight, what incline and speed on the treadmill. You name it if we do it in a session we record it. Also we do a circuit which is the same…

Great ideas thank you. I needed something to allow me to eat tuna without the dreaded mayonaisse

I personally love the fact I am putting on muscle. I've been working with a trainer for a year now but over the last few months we have been getting serious. Or I should say I have been getting serious, he's been there all along. I work out hard for 3-5 hours a week depending on my work timetable. My overall bodyfat…
